I don't know if this has been discussed in this forum before, but on today's lewrockwell.com, Dr. Walter Block writes that he fears for Dr. Paul's safety.
It's the unthinkable that I've had in the back of my mind ever since Dr. Paul's momentum started building earlier this year.
After his appearance tomorrow night, Dr. Paul's popularity will really begin to soar, and big-government politicians and bureaucrats will feel increasingly threatened by the possibility of much of their power slipping away. I turned 55 last week, and I've never had the opportunity to vote for a candidate this revolutionary. It may get ugly.
I'm sure the campaign will spend whatever is necessary to protect Dr. Paul, and I believe we should pray for his safety as he continues his courageous work.
If it happens
it will not come from a gunman. A seeming supporter in the crowd will shake his hand and a chemical will be transfered to Dr. Paul that will cause coronary failure. The assassin will be protected by having previously taken an antidote.

I was at a gun show yesterday handing out slimjims for Dr Paul, there were at least 2 people who said very similar comments. So its not just us internet supporters who think it. Kennedy was going to go back to the gold standard and look what happened.

It was being mostly ignored I think but it was Nixon who actually removed it. I heard an audio from a speech Kennedy gave at some college I think where he talked about "covert" organizations who really run this country. I couldn't understand what he was saying at first because with the accent, he used a short vowel sound for the word "covert." In the speech, he said he would be talking more about them to the entire country. He also started printing United States Notes. These are not backed by anything, the same as FRN's but they incur no debt. I think it was for one of these 2 reasons, or both that he was killed. We'll never really know. But when I heard the audio of that speech, I just said "bingo!" I wish I had the link to the speech. If I find it I'll post it in here.

I was reading through these posts and became disgustingly aware that it's not terrorists that we are afraid of at all, it's our own government. How have we let ourselves get to this point? It is absolutely obscene that our country has fallen this far that our own government has actually become the enemy of freedom and the people. What will the history books say 50 years from now? Think about that for a minute.
This realization alone should be enough to start an actual revolution or a complete revolt by the people!

Not to speak ill of Dr Paul, but he's an old guy and might have a little trouble with a kevlar vest as they are very heavey.
If any of you ever watch the show "future weapons", you will see that this stuff is lighter, and more protective than kevlar. Imagine...a grassroots effort to BUY body armor for Dr Paul...that's gotta be a presidential campaign first
Efficacy of Prayer
If I were Dr. Paul I'd want bodyguards and a kevlar vest instead of prayers. The British have been praying, "God Save The King!" (or queen) for hundreds of years. Funny thing....the monarch always eventually "kicks the bucket," as any sane person would expect. Just to cover all bases, while we're praying for Dr. Paul's safety, shouldn't we also rub a rabbit's foot? Maybe pluck an eyelash and make a wish before blowing it away? Surely, yes. We don't want to take any chances, right?

There are no protection for a state official for committing war crimes, once they are out of office. While I abhor the idea that the French are doing what we should be doing, legally speaking, they have every right to try a person for violating their laws, as long as the accused is physically on their own sovereign soil. Just as if a Frenchman were caught murdering someone in NYC, the NYPD has every right arrest and convict him after due process of the law. Now just imagine if the French practiced rendition like we do... Well, okay so actually they do, but it's just not out in the open like ours is now. Though we have been practicing it since the founding of CIA in 1947, we just never borrowed a GulfStreamV privatejet belonging to the owner of Red Sox to do it.

Yes, there have been presidential attacks. But-- congresspersons are supposed to also have access to enhanced security. We are aware of the dangers he faces, and I am sure the campaign is also. I believe the real danger exponentially increases when he begins to hit on the Fed Reserve and the real reason the economy is going down the chute. Very soon now, it will be obvious to all.
In spite of the danger, I do wish he would get ahead of the curve, and start explaining to the layman how exactly ALL (EVERY SINGLE DIME) of the money collected by the IRS goes ONLY to pay interest to the bankers, and that every cent of the money spent by the Gov't for the war, SS, etc is only borrowed, fresh printed funds, for which we will owe more interest to the bankers..

Your right it is awful, but we all know it is every bit possible that it could become reality. Of course, none of us want it, and I'm quite sure all of us loathe the thought, but hiding from what could very well be reality in this day and age isn't going to make it conveniently go away and not happen. Do you think Dr. Paul and his wife have not had this conversation? If it is spoken about and thought about, it is A: a headstart on the next plan of action, should it be unfortunately necessary. B: more difficult for it to be accomplished in any form of secrecy, because the doubt that could expose an evil implemented plan like that, already exists, and we (insiders and supporters of Ron Paul) are everywhere, aware of the potential, and ready and watching for it, with cell phones and video cams in hand and access to total exposure of something that sinister. The point: If you love this man as you do, not only should you support him, but you should maintain surveillance at all times when you are around him, and protect him as well. Keep a camera well focused at any moment you have one aimed on him or his crowds. We aren't just a "goal", we are a "mission on behalf of our country," and it is our responsibility, more so than the secret service's, to see it through. And as far as I am concerned, keep your cameras especially focused on them. They are always the closest to him. Remember, the easiest place to hide is right in front of the public's eyes.

It's important... his safety may be an issue. Asking people to pray for him is a good thing. What this guy is saying angers certain people. His message is on the level of Kennedy and Lincoln for sure.
Ross Perot
Isn't the reason Perot dropped out of the '92 race because someone threatened either him or his family? He only dropped out for a short time, but he reached about 19% in the national poll in that three way race. If I recall correctly it was in August and he was surging when he pulled up stakes. Could be someone will take this same tack with Paul if he looks like he would win, or just win in NH.

It was the last time I voted. He very well may have been a set-up for Clinton to get elected. Why is he not supporting Ron Paul if he wants to help his country? If he was going to drop out due to security, why would he get back in? He may have dropped out because he was getting too popular and didn't really want to be Prez, but to help Clinton at the time.
Just some speculation, but where is he now????? I believe someone told me his name, or son't name, was on the list of Hillary donations, but not sure.

The message
Dr. Paul has said repeatedly that what has excited us all is the message, and there are now thousands of people committed to restoring Constitutional government who communicate with one another. It would be sad if we had so little confidence to think we are entirely dependent on one man for our future, especially when we know that most of the organization and network supporting him developed outside of the campaign staff and with no direction or input from Dr. Paul.
This is a reminder, though, that more of us should develop our own communication skills and consider the benefit of having a large number of libertarians or constitutionalists able to speak articulately. Dr. Paul wrote the Foreword to Harry Browne's LIBERTY A-Z: 872 LIBERTARIAN SOUNDBITES YOU CAN USE RIGHT NOW, and it wouldn't be a bad idea for people supporting the campaign to become better speakers, both to help him win this election and to make sure this is a movement and not a fad.

It wouldn't happen with a crowd of supporters around and a gunshot (god forbid), because the perpetrator would likely be torn apart limb from limb while being alive to experience it. : ) I honestly don't believe he or she would make it away from the scene alive given the devotion of us supporters. I also firmly believe, in that situation, many of us would glady make our attempt to intercept the bullet. For Ron Paul, and what he means to this country, I know I would, and thats one bullet you could say, "you took for your country."

I have often thought about Dr. Paul's safety but couldn't bring myself to put it in writing. It just didn't feel right to even suggest the possibility.
I am concerned also...
It wouldnt be the first time "THEY" took care of a "PROBLEM".
I worry about it but then I think of all of us that support the message and all the people that would afterwards just because of that situation(blowback). It would be a very poor tactical error on their part, and would add truth to all the wild conspiracy theories. "THEY" may be evil, but I dont think "THEY" are stupid. Lets stay positive and but our good Dr. in the White House =)
