I am ASHAMED of some Ron Paul Supporters PLEASE READ

-1 vote

I have had it.

I cannot stand to read another reporter/blogger complain about how they have received profane/threatening/intimidating responses from Ron Paul supporters. They are right to complain. This behavior is offensive and unacceptable.

If you do not agree with something you read or watch and would like to respond ...fine.

But please, NO:

profanity
name calling
racial slurs
threats
harrassment
personal attacks

This reflects poorly on Ron Paul, this reflects poorly on your fellow supporters and it reflects poorly on the campaign. Sending hostile and abusive emails will not win supporters or encourage bloggers or reporters to write positive articles. When you behave in this manner you become an embarrasment to the campaign. Please stop! IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO LEAVE A RATIONAL AND POLITE REBUTTAL, DO NOT LEAVE ONE AT ALL.

I would also like to encourage other RP supporters, when you come across such comments, to bury or flag them as offensive so that they will be removed.

Also, when you are commenting on this or other RP forums about various correspondents, anchors, reporters, or bloggers please apply the same rules. NO NAME CALLING or PERSONAL ATTACKS!

HESTIA the lady doth protest too much

Hestia was one of the 12 Olympian Greek deities along with Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hermes, Demeter, Aphrodite, Athena, Apollo, Ares, Artemis and Hephaestus.

There were also the primordial deities such as Titans (predecessor ancient dieties overthrown emprisoned and deposed by the Olympian Gods) and aquatic deities and chthonic deities as well as personified concepts like the Muses and the Fates.

In Greek mythology, virginal Hestia (ancient Greek Ἑστία) is the goddess of the hearth, of the right ordering of domesticity and the family, who received the first offering at every sacrifice in the household. In the public domain the hearth of the prytaneum or town hall functioned as her official sanctuary. With the establishment of a new colony, flame from Hestia's public hearth would be carried to the new settlement.

HMMM flame away, torchbearer.

It is always good policy to

It is always good policy to be courteous and avoid the vulgarities you describe in your post. I have read many comments after articles on Ron Paul. I am always impressed by the high level of articulation, enthusiasm, and courtesy I see in these posts. Even on Digg where people can be very rude, those who support Ron Paul are usually more than civil. There may be a few bad apples out there and there is nothing wrong with encouraging everyone to be courteous, but we can't be responsible for everyone's conduct nor should their actions be cherry-picked by journalists and bloggers to describe the whole movement. Such reporting is irresponsible, is not newsworthy, and is severely biased.

As for comments hurting their feelings - it comes with the territory. When writing for the public they should be prepared to get a variety of responses and some might require thick skin. I'm willing to bet however that for every bad apple message they received, they got a barrel full of thoughtful responses but they chose to dwell on the rotten apple in the barrel.

Spammed by Ron Paul Supporters

All my public email accounts were hit with Ron Paul supporter spam. Between the immature, irrational comments and the spam I'm wary of actually attending a meetup group. I'll get over it and go, but the rational voices need to be louder than the childish, abrasive ones and the conspiracy theorists. It's not about the media labeling Ron Paul supporters as wackos. It's about losing reasonable supporters who don't want to be associated with that kind of behavior.

In agreement

I agree entirely.
This is how to kill Ron Paul's campaign and our only hope for liberty in the foreseeable future.
I have read articles in the past few months that predicted just this. That Ron Paul's campaign supporters would self destruct and wipe out Ron Paul's chances at the presidency.
Many Ron Paul supporters have been supporting him for years because of his rational government message. And they have been butting heads with government types for some time. And they are pissed off. And that is understandable.
But now the ball is rolling in the direction they have been trying to push it. So now that a path has been established it is time to return to the cordial and political approach. Civility. Grass roots not gorilla. Yet.
Chill out and be nice to people. I know it is very difficult to be nice to some of them and they don't deserve it sometimes. But it is easier to listen to reason as opposed to rants.
Don't blow your last chance at liberty.

Go Ron Paul!

none are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

You are falling for their game...

Relax. Notice that when some reporter complains that they have received 1000's of emails from Ron Paul supporters they end up posting one "example" of abuse. One out of thousands, there is no verification, or follow up, just the reporters "word" that this is true. Usually when some "reporter" finds themselves on this side of the rEVOLution's ire, it is because they posted some lie or misinformation to begin with.

I have seen many posts lately in which the poster claims that he/she is "thinking?" about changing their support for Dr. Paul because of unsavory supporters or shoddy TV ads. I say good riddance! These type of comments come from either subversives, working to damage Dr. Paul's support, or from wishy washy, flip flopping, fair weather fake supporters, you know the kind that always seem to be a fan of the team that is in the lead. Let them go support Romney, they will fell right at home.

Keep the faith.

Give me liberty....

"Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment." - Ron Paul

Reporter / Blogger

These days, that title is interchangeable. Since following Ron Paul's campaign more closely, the biased media reporting from professional journalists is worse than appalling. There is no fact. We have seen opinions and foretunetelling put in print. "He won't win" and "his ideas are unworkable" and "his campaign is all an internet hoax."

One blogger, Hal Taylor for the National Ledger, complained of Ron Paul fans who damage his chances for winning by attacking journalists - friends of his - in the comment section after an article. Ron Paul gets a spot on Leno, and all this guy can talk about is how awful his supporters are and how they hurt journalists' feelings. Look at how many people are excited about this show and sending Jay flowers in gratitude. Ron Paul has been that marginalised and attacked.

I wrote a comment to the National Ledger article addressed directly to its author and point blank calling his colleagues "sell-outs and hacks." That's all. I feel very strongly about this. It is one thing to ignore Ron Paul because of his low name recognition. The behavior I've seen from the media is in line with junior high taunting. It is undignified and unprofessional, even for bloggers who are paid by way of bar tabs.

This guy had it coming to him. Suck it up, if you're a professional. It is dumb to bite the hand that feeds you, but when they must turn their teeth on a well- meaning underdog, the gloves are off. Besides, whining only sets you up for ridicule. I learned that from Redstate.

change the title of this post!

You can achieve the same objective without disenfranchising the newly interested.

...unless that is your game.

Good post

It's definitely counteractive. However, I do think it is only a very small minority of supporters doing this. When I read comments on blogs about Ron Paul, I usually find them pretty articulate and mature. I haven't seen too many of the immature swearing ones - only times I see that is when a blogger writes an entry about the e-mails he's receiving.

It's hard to prove, that we're talking about RP

supporters.
I bet a house, that other campaign is sending emails in "RP's name" with i.e. racial slur.

Girliani

That sounds like Girliani and Fox startegy to win. Use profane language and accuse us.

Seriously? You Must Be Bored...

You should spend some time worrying about things of real consequence. Life is stressful enough as it is, especially trying to get the word out. People have a 1st Amendment right to say whatever they want, let it be. Profane comments on blogs and vids and elsewhere on the net aren't going to derail anything. There will always be dumb people, and their comments only reflect themselves.

heres my take .. what do you wanna bet?

here's my take .. i have been around here a while... and i haven't heard any and i mean any of the ron paul supporters talk like that at all ... that is probably a fake message .. sent from a group that hates Dr. Ron ... it's pretty blatant ... our supporters are not like that ... it goes on the say we are nazi jew haters .... right ... like that will stick ... for all you know .. they just got sick and tired of the truth and wrote the comments themselves

and just in case.........

Know your enemy people. Of

Know your enemy people. Of course they are going to say this. They may even have people claiming to be RP fans writing this to give them a story. I put nothing past rich people that want their way. It's the same as that story of the neo-nazi guy donating to RP. They are going to try everything they possibly can to attack RP and if that means his supporters (since Dr. Paul has no dirt), then so be it. Just sit back, laugh, and enjoy people. The fact that they are attacking him confirms step 3 of 4 in winning a peaceful revolution. Next up, WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like Rights & Power, Shame is best left to the individual.

Hestia,

Don't be ashamed of what others do! We are a grassroots organization of individuals fighting a Revolution to change the direction of politics and governance in our country. We are not anymore responsible for each others actions than Ron Paul is for what we do. Each of us in their own way is fighting this battle with differing levels of passion and engagement based on our own ideas, creativity, morals, and interests.

While we cannot condone the use of threats and intimidation by some supporters, it is not for us to be ashamed of them either. If you fight for the rights of the individual then you will find that individual people with diverse sometimes repugnant views may be fighting along side you.

We each fight for our own reasons. For me, I want my children to have a chance to grow up in a free constitutional republic with limited interference from government. There is no shame in that.

to be fair

The majority of rude comments from RP supporters I see are responses to similarly rude comments.

I mean, how many times can you take being called a moonbat, insane, ronulan, or paultard or any other name.

The right wing bloggers are mostly immitators of Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and the like, and so I don't feel quite so bad about giving them some of their own medicine.

most discussions go like this.

A: Ron paul wants to cut and run like the other isolationist moonbats

B: RP is not an isolationist, he thinks we will do better through communication with our enemys

A; Oh great, another crazy paultard nutjob

B: Screw you, you facist

A: Why are you being so rude to me ?

Now of course, there is no reason to initiate rudeness.

Your analysis is flawed

How do you even know these were Paul supporters? Don't you get how underhanded the neo-cons are? Do you remember Willie Horton? Do you remember how they maligned McCain in 2000? Do you remember swift boat veterans against Kerry?

Besides, if they are Paul supporters, you should respect their free speech rights. Wackos have a right to their views too. If I have to live in a country where I have to accept guilt by association, I mne as well hang it up right now!

Ron Paul has always said that he will talk about freedom and liberty any where. He will talk to the Alex Jones of the world if they give him a forum. He is a uniter not a divider. The current pubs in office specialize at divide, impune, and destroy.

lol

kerry deserved what he got for being a LIAR.. and I can prove that! that dork, can't hold a candle to Ron Paul!

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

Dont forget the moles....

We have had this problem on the forum as well, and I have to believe that some of these idiots are actually there to show Ron Paul supporters are a bunch of crazy people. Almost makes me want to go to the other candidates and be just as disrespectful as they are to our group.

I personally dont think they are Ron Paul supporters at all but moles from the main stream candidates because they know they cant win legitimately against Ron Paul's message. They havent a chance if they play fair.

Say it with..."flowers!" :-)

I do think that many supporters have been quick to condem the actions of many in the media, which is why I support the current "Flower Shower" for The Tonight Show to "compliment" those at NBC for having Ron on to share his message. I wonder how many have made that $10-$15-$25 purchase of good will to show our "support" vs. "wrath?" So far, according to the flower shop, less than 100 :-(

I agree, some SHOULD be called on the carpet for their lack of journalistic integiry, but are we indeed "encouraging" those who are willing to lend us their ear (i.e. The Tonight Show, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, or soon..The View)?

I think hidden within a "questionable" thread title (yeah, I didn't like that either) is a well-deserved challenge to us all to show our support when warranted as well. Wanna say "thank you" to The Tonight Show? As FTD used to say, "Say it with FLOWERS" :-) This is the last day...

Take note People.

This is NOT how you want to post things in a title emphasizing- ASHAMED!!! It sends the wrong message trying to create disruption, conflict, and disorder. It is also an attempt to weaken morale. If you are ashamed by others that cannot be verified then why are you here? Don't buy into this ashamed business. If you do, it will get to you.

It really does not take much to figure out that yes, there are some extreme people here but they are everywhere. I would think 99.999% of them would curb such behavior if they knew it would hurt the campaign. But more likely, such behavior in my opinion is from others who deliberately want to undermine the campaign.

It is not rocket science. All modern day presidential campaigns have history of doing this.

I don't care what anybody says, I am SOOO proud to be a Ron Paul supporter.

Some may be trolls...

...but I have seen plenty of simple small minded rudeness from Ron Paul supporters to think that trolls aren't the problem. Thank you for posting this message. Unfortunately the people who read and understand it aren't the ones causing the problems.

"You're to stupid to vote for Ron Paul" is not a good campaign slogan.

Ron Paul: He wants to get out of Iraq, pronto!

I agree completely and...

we cannot assume that it's the opposition trying to make us look bad. Ron Paul's message can and does attract hate-filled people that don't control themselves when responding on issues that they are passionate about. I see a lot of it occuring on Youtube.

When the media points out bad behavior by Ron Paul supporters, they do so to discredit Ron Paul, not us. Everything way say and do reflects on RP. I think it's a good idea to remind everybody of our unifying goal - TO GET RON PAUL ELECTED!!! Profane, rude postings do nothing to further that goal and should be denounced (buried/flagged) and shamed.

Troll alert people!!!!

Watch out!

I'm with you...

Ever since Redstate debacle and Faux news....well, these "innocent" questions are posed on this site, but all have the appearance of "discourse", but in fact are leading people to believe what isn't true...that there ARE actual rude Ron Paul supporters.

I just haven't found it.

Go to Youtube and follow the threads. You'll find plenty of rude Ron Paul supporters. I've corrected a few myself.

Title is pathetic

You are ashamed to be a Ron Paul supporter because of what others do? If that's the case, then you are not a Ron Paul supporter at all.....or a foolish one. This title on a Ron Paul site does more harm than any "profane" remark from others. And no, I don't respect those either, but certainly would not be ashamed to be a Ron supporter for what others do. The worst post I have ever seen here in six months.

A reply

Dear Bob W

Thank you for reading my post. After it was pointed out to me that it might be read differently then intended I edited. Obviously you didn't catch that.

I intentionally chose a title to get readers attention. I want every Ron Paul supporter who visits this site to read this because I truly believe that how we represent ourselves is so important.

I do stand by what I said though. I am ashamed to be part of ANY group that bullies and intimidates. I will say that I never said that I am ashamed to support Ron Paul. He doesn't bully or intimidate, he argues sensibly.

The fact that you would question my loyalty to the campaign, and at best you call me "foolish" (could this be a personal attack?), is disturbing.

I speak my mind

I appreciate you changing your title. As for a "personal attack," consider it what you may. Based on your first title, I'm really not concerned as to what you think at this point.
