I bump this thread,
to remind members of the DailyPaul that we must keep our respect for fellow members in the highest regard. I see a lot of comments below that are beneath the dignity of this site.
I too have failed to achieve the DailyPaul guidelines at times when I felt the poster of the thread did not have the best interests of the message of Dr. Paul at heart.
I can assure you that Jzneff is not a troll, but only a man who believes in liberty, as do we all.
Do not criticize, but rather, listen to his viewpoint. Nobody, ever learned anything by talking, you have to listen.
If you disagree, do so respectfully.

As a reader of economic theory but total
novice in finance, I enjoy and try to learn from the wide range of views among financial commentators on the DP.
So yeah, I'm happy to digg jzneff's site, happy he posts his views here. I'm also happy to read the financial ideas of those who project different market
trends. Relevant debate is valuable.
I only wish we who appreciate an exchange of ideas didn't have to wade through irrelevant personal sniping. It's a waste of everyone's time and lowers the quality of the DP threads.

Yes, I debate aggressively. I've always tried to keep things civil, but often it doesnt' work that way.
There are about 1/2 dozen people who write here who seem threatened by what I have to say, so much that it eventually caused me to spend most time here arguing with them, so I stopped coming back.
I am especially offended that after being right about almost everything I've told these people, they still rarely even read what I'm saying before responding with a antagonizing comment.
I'll do my best to ignore them.

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Sheila Bair believes up to 500 more banks could fail, a U.S. senator said Bair told him in a recent meeting.
“She told us that unless something dramatic happens, we could lose up to 500 more banks,” Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., said Thursday at a hearing of the Senate Banking Committee on the foreclosure crisis.
Bunning said Bair made the remarks in a recent meeting.
“That means that people who make mortgages in local places …. people that could really help in a foreclosure will not be there,” Bunning said.

Yup...there are probably at least 500 small banks that are overextended in local commercial real estate, and are at risk of getting taken over in the next few years. That's not good, but why's this potentially destructive?
Do you know how many banks fell as a result of the 1980' S&L nonsense? From 1988-1990, there were almost 1400 failed banks. In 3 years, 1400.
Don't waste your breath about the FDIC fund either...it doesn't really exist. The FDIC has the licencse to print money...and you'll see if it really does spend it's allotment.
A bank failure is dollars that only exist on paper getting taken from a bank and sold to other banks so they can write those numbers on paper. At worst, your ATM card might not work until Monday morning, and your mortgage payment will go to another bank next month. So long as you don't exceed the 250k insured by the FDIC (don't ever exceed this) you're unaffected.
Things aren't going back to 1994...but don't tell me that 500 bank failures will usher in the great depression. I've had enough lunacy from you, thanks.
