Gardening post has disappeared. Any other posts gone?
Submitted by martfuncher on Wed, 05/14/2008 - 17:49
My gardening post seems to have disappeared. I wonder if this is because of a "bury brigade" (saw this being discussed by certain people the other day)? Or if maybe manystrom deleted it?
Anyways, the most popular post on Daily Paul seems to be gone now. =|

Martfuncher, welcome
Martfuncher, welcome back!
While you were gone we had a mini-crisis over flag-deletion and amateur censors went on a tear, deleting "off-topic" threads using multiple screenname accounts.
Since then, Manystrom has disabled the flag feature.

I've been searching for the gardening post and just came across this one. My puter crashed and I lost my links from it....specifically the ones for heirloom seeds. Is anyone able to help me out please?

Hey Lisa, how did your salmon dip turn out? I was wondering.
Orgasmic
Thanks for the recipe.
Where have you been?

VERY busy! I really should
VERY busy! I really should not even be on here right now ---- my business is suffering! Plus, to be honest, there were some days when the overall mood here was so hostile, that I just beat a hasty retreat soon after logging on.
Completely understand.
Some days I want to leave and never come back.
But, *sigh*, it's a sickness.

I can still remember the first time I ever ran across a blog, just a few years ago ---- I thought to myself: "what a waste of time!" And now here I sit, in the nude, communicating with people around the planet.

Had a cigarette afterwards.
Yum-o.

I'm glad it worked,
I'm glad it worked, considering that I had to wrack my brain to put the recipe down on paper (well, electrons) ---- I don't usually cook that way. Except for baking, which I have learned the hard way is not a place to just "wing it".
I bet you eat with your fingers too.

Only the normal things, like pudding and creamed corn and pickled herring.
In Australia they eat chicken drumsticks with a knife and fork.
Here I am, the barbarian American, picking that sucker up and chewing it like a Neanderthal princess.
The British have a lot to answer for.

Lisa, you would REALLY like
Lisa, you would REALLY like how they eat chicken in Zambia (and this pertains to WHOLE chickens, and I do mean "Whole"): pick it up, eat the meat, then eat the gristle, comb and feet, and THEN eat the bones! ALL of them! I kid you not, the end of a chicken dinner sounds like a band of starving hyenas at a kill! And yet almost everyone has beautiful, perfect teeth!
I hate it when I get feathers caught between my teeth.

No, they do pluck it first,
No, they do pluck it first, which I think constitutes the complete pre-cooking preparation.
Well, if they pluck it first, I'm in.

LOL! I remember going into
LOL! I remember going into a hamburger joint (Wimpie's, I believe) my one and only time in London, over twenty years ago, ordering a hamburger, taking a small table, and then picking it up and beginning to eat it. EVERYONE stopped and looked at me in horror! You would think I had pulled a live bat out of my pocket and proceeded to dismember it live while eating the pieces! With my toes! Umm, you whacked-out Limeys, it's a fuckin' SANDWICH! It's MADE to be eaten with the hands! But then, what can one expect from people who consider boiled beef and grey, lifeless boiled veggies the height of culinary delight.
The Australians have many of the same culinary habits.
I always like to tell my husband -- you can tell how a person performs "romantically" by watching them eat.
Yes, I've seen the knife and fork hamburger episode here too.
I'm a proud barbarian.

Even there? Had I not been
Even there? Had I not been so outnumbered, I would have laughed in their faces! I'd LOVE to give them some corn on the cob, and let them have at it with their knives and forks!
Although to be honest, I do normally eat pizza with a knife and fork. It's slower to eat that way, and I find I enjoy it more in the end.
BTW, what's with holding the fork upside down while eating? I noticed that every Brit seems to eat that way, in contrast to all logic and obvious utility.
Yes, even here.
I have laughed. Unfortunately, it was at one of my husband's business contacts. He was cutting pancakes with a knife and fork like it was a T-bone. Oh well.
You can pile food on the back of your fork. I don't know. It's what their mummy's teach them.
On the other hand, they laugh at Americans for cutting something with a knife, then put the knife down and switch hands with the fork. And for cutting food with the side of a fork.
Why do we put the knife down and switch hands with the fork? Only Americans do it.

Actually, Lisa, I think that
Actually, Lisa, I think that that "knife switching" routine of Americans is absurd as well. Just keep the damned thing in one hand! That is how I eat, a habit I believe I picked up overseas, although I keep the knife in my left hand and the fork in my right, throughout the meal, as is obviously proper. But I am ambidextrous anyway, so maybe it's easier for me to use both hands.
But cutting PANCAKES? With a knife? Now come on, just use the fork! What about when they eat cake --- do they use a knife on that? Ice Cream?
I don't know
My face is usually in the plate or bowl. I'm beyond etiquette.
Hey, akak, how thin can this thread get? One letter wide?

Well, I've noticed that as you post more and more in a given thread, it "widens" the preceeding posts a bit. But let's see!
Getting narrower.

Suck it in.
Keep going -- we might get to infinity.
