Boortz just talked about Ron Paul with a caller

0 votes

and said that he likes a lot of what Ron says, but thinks he's soft on terror. Boortz thinks the radical Islams are determined to destroy our way of life as we know it. Also he slammed the RP supporters that act like moonbats- he said it is the biggest problem RP has.
I wrote him a letter asking him to reconsider his position on the 'war on terror'. I really think he does believe we are in danger from terrorists. He said it is his opinion.
I really wish we could break through on a few of these guys and get them to see that RP isn't saying ignore the terrorists- just that it is individuals we have to go after- not entire countries.
Boortz agrees with RP on 90% of stuff- what can we do to get the hawks to reconsider their positions? We need to stop meddling with other countries!
Arrgghhhh!

Boortz

I've listened to Boortz and read his daily blog for years.

He gave Harry Browne about a half million person boost in 2000 (in Georgia) by supporting him.

9/11 changed him, he has a huge hatred for "islamofacists" as he likes to call them. He says that waterboarding isn't torture. He's stuck in favor of the war.

The sad thing is, he worries about how the "islamofacists" will hurt our way of life while not caring that Hillary or Rudy in office will destroy our freedoms much more than any terrorist could hope to.

just the facts for boortz

paul proposed a marque and reprisal for osama bin laden

he even suggested that if we are to war with iraq, then declare it

has the highest support of the military than any other candidate

is the champion of the constitution

takes care of our veterans

that should be hard to argue with....

Address Financial Costs

With people who are basically with us on domestic policy, but differ on the war, should be shown the financial costs.

When you show these people that we simply cannot afford to have these adventures without creating massive debt which will have to be paid for by TAXES you link the war with the most hated phrase in most GOP circles, "Tax Increase".

If you can effectively communicate that support for the war in Iraq is tantamount to support of heavy tax increases which will have to pay for it, you show that being a small government hawk is in realistic terms a contradiction.

Defense is a legitimate state function, but going to war because the administration feels it's a good idea is not. I was behind Afghanistan myself, feeling that there was a legitimate connection between Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. That being said, permanently occupying Afghanistan is not a solution. We need to widthdraw.

I think Ron Paul introduced a bill that would grant letters of mark and reprisal against terrorists. For those who don't know this is mentioned in the constitution and was a tool for targeting non-state enemies like pirates or terrorists in todays world. It's good to note that he was not against pursuing Al-Qaeda as some people would like it to come off.

War on Terror - the central issue

I won't preach to the choir here, but this is the key to the nomination and presidency.

Paul's defense approach would encourage defense technology development (the historically proven defense advantage of all strong nations) via free market and government funding, as well as the US being behind a 'just war' authorized by congress per the constitution in which we ALL fight monolithically, with our guns authorized by the 2nd amendment.....or we act as our constitutional law instructs: peace, trade, talk, and prosperity....being a model of how to be as a nation, and the philosophy of 'we stay on our side of the fence...you stay on yours'. And bring the 9-11 responisble to justice once and for all.

Nation building is key to globalism. "Conservatives" under neoconservative influence need to understand this before primary season. Will this happen? Is there time? Will there be a mass awakening?

In Reality

A stronger national defense would strengthen our nation and non-intervention would take away alot of the fuel for creating terorists in the first place ............. these ignorant talkshow hosts arguments have way to many holes in them ,I mean are we going to invade Ireland and kill thousands of civilians to get to a few terrorists .

The Ostia Attack on Ancient Rome = 911 = Pearl Harbor

With guys like that, just ask what will it all be worth if the soldiers come home to 10 times more social regulation than when they left.

You cannot win with us pro-war Republicans by directly talking about the war.

But you can win with us if you talk about the outrageous things that have been passed in the Congress while the troops were away.

The Roman Republic died this way as well.

In 68BC, terrorists destroyed the fleet at Rome's Ostia harbor.

This caused the people to vote themselves a dictator via a bunch of laws and institutions that everyone thought would make them safe.

Now we have Republican federal judges like Thomas Rose saying things like:

"There is no fundamental liberty interest in an American contacting a foreigner" (said just before Memorial Day in 2006 in the European Connections vs Gonzales Case trying in vain to strike down the IMBRA law).

soft on terror.. hmmm

I would rather have my politicians, my president be softer on terror, vs harder on trampling my rights.

The sad problem with this whole image of Ron Paul being soft on terror, comes from him not supporting US Citizens being spied on, wire tapped, rights squeezed so tightly they barely exist anymore.

Ron Paul would deal with terrorists. Ron Paul would also deal with any threats here at home, but he would do it legally. He would not trample our rights in order to do so.

The constitution was not made to protect us from terrorists. It was made for one reason, and one reason only, to protect us from our government. Why can't people see that? Why are they letting THEIR FREEDOM be viewed as something dangerous that needs to be taken away to keep them safe?

Ron Paul and Self Defense

I have posted on this topic a number of times. Ron Paul would be much STRONGER on self-defense than GWB and neo-cons. First and foremost, he understands it is defense NOT aggression, that in itself leads to stronger defense, because you are not looking for fights. Secondly, if we pull in some of our extremely stretched global military presence, our defense of citizens here at home could be significantly strengthened. Third, you have a philosophy that says, any who aggress against the U.S. will be significantly dealt with, appropriately and in a constitutional and morally sound manner (meaning, defense, not aggression - "just war" so to speak). Fourth, being morally sound means you win. If you give up your principles you AUTOMATICALLY lose, even if you "win" the fight. If we give up liberty we lose.

Exactly.

Imagine a TOTAL change of tactics both done and (perhaps more-important) ALLOWED in a Ron Paul future. Think things like a modern version of the US "Liberator" single shot WW2 pistol getting all over the planet. The dictator-lobby of the UN fears self defense tools of all sorts for good reasons. The concept of self defense isn't confined to those of us lucky enough to be born with a Constitution that ostensibly protects it -- these ideas work worldwide when tried.

BOOrtz...

Boortz has called Dr. Paul a "whacko" and "nutjob" in the past, no reason to believe he feels any differently now. Wouldn't hold your breath waiting for his endorsement...

These people

have been compromised ,its unbelievable to me that they would give up all America's freedom so readily just to fight a few terrorists .

The real question to the

The real question to the people that are all for this war and the one with Iran is how do we win. They feel that we have to fight them because they want to destroy our way of life well them how do we win the war on terror. I am not sure any of the people have an answer to this they only keep saying we have to be there. Keep them stumbling by asking ok how do win--- then step back watch them stumble around (because there is no way to win this war) Just try not to laugh when they are taking too long to answer.

I listen to Boortz quite a bit. Everything he talks about except for 'terrorism' is inline with the Paul message. Too bad he won't talk about Ron Paul on the other issues; he has alot of influence, especially in Atlanta. If he were to endorse Ron Paul and talk about him all the time, Ron would do doubt win the Georgia nomination.

I've never understood this view.

IMO it's likely he'd be the terrorists' worst nightmare, ESPECIALLY if war were actually declared, because he'd fight it to win instead of UN-style expensive (but politically-correct!) losing.

Me Either

Exactly! I've never understood the view either. I wish folks could learn to think more scientifically. By that, I mean there are experiments going on around us all the time. Communism, for example, has been proven a failure by all the countries that have tried it. (Would you rather live in the United States or North Korea? Australia or Cuba? The former in both cases, right?) There is also a constantly running experiment regarding the countries that receive the "attention" of terrorists. In all cases the targeted countries are either Muslim (Muslim on Muslim crime) or they are the countries that meddle in the private affairs of Muslim nations. The United States falls into the latter category. But where are the suicide bombings in Switzerland? Why are not the airlines of the Japanese being hijacked? The answer is because those countries, not to mention many other unmolested ones, mind their own business. Anyone who ever grew up with a sibling can understand this. You might tolerate your sibling finger flicking your ear for a little while, but if it goes on long enough, you're likely to get ticked off and try and punch their lights out.

What would commentators like Neil Boortz and Dennis Miller really have us do? Should we nuke every Muslim nation until it glows for a thousand years? Turn the whole Middle East to glass? Give me a break! We're talking about human beings for Pete's sake! We all really just want the same things -- peace, security, freedom from privation, and to be left alone.

The human race really can have peace on earth -- the Olympics celebration does not have to be a noble joke. But to have it the people need to get their politicians to stop behaving like children who never outgrew playing the wargames of their youth. And those politicians must be made to stop finger flicking the ears of the people of other nations, so to speak. Otherwise we should never be surpirsed if they get ticked off and try, however desperately, to punch our lights out.

What is obvious is that there are a host of immature children running for the U.S. presidency -- and there's one adult -- our good man Ron Paul.

Champions of Mediocrity

Neal Boortz, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Billow Wryly, & Rush (The Oxy-conservative) Limbaugh have no stake in a future of freedom. Their meat and potatoes is railing against their own carefully crafted Trotskyite status quo. President Hillary means vindication for their rants, and stimulated listeners to lap up their venomous screeds, and hysterical sponsors aligning themselves with the atavistic sensibilities of the booboisie.

They talk a good free market and civil society, but the real fruits of freedom will just have to wait for another generation or two. Right now the scary bad mans who want to kill us all because we're good and they hate our freedom is just too profitable -- er, "dangerous" -- to let us forget.

Just because they sound like they would agree with Dr Paul ninety per cent, they agree more with the principle that bad news is good news for the vendors of fear.

War is the Health of the State

That's why the very first thing to get right has to be foreign policy: without peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, the rest of the program isn't going to happen, or at least won't keep happening for very long.
