Ron Paul: My Letter To Friends & Family
After quite a bit of research, I was a strong supporter of Mitt Romney and voted for him. But there was one thing that I did not do, and that is seriously consider and take a look at Ron Paul, or even what he had to say - I saw him as a clown with no chance, exactly like the mainstream media and other politicians prefer the American people to believe.
No, he is not the most charismatic candidate, nor the greatest speaker, nor the wealthiest, nor the most popular, nor even a candidate with much of a chance of winning yet, but what makes him more special and important than all the others is that he does stand up for and consistently defend the right values for America, the values the country was founded upon, The Constitution of the United States, and individual liberties. And, he does not do this merely for political reasons or power, he is genuinely sincere in supporting the Constitution and he has one of the most exemplary political records to prove it. In a day and age when most politicians vote mainly with their self-interests in mind or for political reasons, Ron Paul is one of the very few congressmen, if not the only one, that repeatedly votes based upon what is right for America with respect to the Constitution, first and foremost.
And now, after giving Ron Paul the educated consideration that he deserves for President, a consideration that he deserves more than any other candidate, I am going to support Ron Paul and I am going to vote for him; even if I have to write him in. I encourage you to, at a minimum, at least watch some of his videos and speeches and consider him as well as you have any other candidate. If you do, I am sure you will surprise yourself with the realization that Ron Paul is the only choice for President. He is the only choice at a time when the government is so overwhelmingly powerful, bloated, and full of bureaucracy, that we are beginning to lose sight of the purposes the American government was originally founded for.
He is right about war too. I would normally be one of the last people to want to withdraw from a battle, but the point is, America should not be fighting other country's battles to begin with. America should only go to war if Congress declares war, with the intent to win. All the foreign battles America has fought since World War II have not been declared wars, that we would try to or need to win at all costs, and as a result we have lost or withdrawn from them all at extreme costs.
A vote for Ron Paul is not wasted, because every vote he earns, is a vote for America and the Constitution rather than a politician and larger government. If all those voting for another candidate, merely because there seems to be no better option, actually voted for Ron Paul, then he would win.

Spoken like a true Patriot. I saw one video of a speech and knew instantly that this man would get my vote. There wasn't even a glimmer of a doubt. I would fight at the drop of a hate for this man. I revere him as much as my constitution because if he was setting at the table with my forefathers he would have signed the document and fought and given his life to uphold every word. Great letter! Many have stated that Ron Paul
doesn't dress well or speak well. I beg to differ. I think he is both well dressed and eloquent. His speeches, moreover, are filled with actual MEANING, not just catchphrases and slogans.
As for charisma and wealth, how are these relevant to the office? Intelligence and honor offer more promise in a leader. A wealthy man, as far as I can see, has no empathy or understanding of the plight of the rest of us. Dr. Paul is probably the least wealthy of all the candidates, and people should see that as a sign of his integrity, although it does put him at a strategic disadvantage.
I'm glad you decided to support Dr. Paul, but I felt the need to stand up against these same criticisms which I've seen repeated so many times. To me, they have always been unfair. Except for Mitt Romney, none of the other candidates looks like a model, either. And none of them holds a candle to Ron Paul in speaking common sense.

I did not mean to imply that Ron Paul does not dress well or speak well. But, you have to understand where I'm coming from, and where the rest of the Republicans are coming from.
What I meant is that upon first impressions, such as the Republican debates, Ron Paul does not come across as the most charismatic candidate, nor the greatest speaker, nor the wealthiest, nor the most popular, nor even a candidate with much of a chance of winning.
That's why it's important that Republicans, at the very least, watch a few of his videos and speeches, and learn what Ron Paul is truly about, before instinctively writing him off and ignoring him.
If anyone understands this, it would be me, because less than a month ago, I was going to vote for McCain, to try to win the game, rather than voting for what I wanted. Less than a month ago, I thought Ron Paul was a joke and didn't give him the attention he deserves.
There are many more out there like me.

Thanks gives new breath of life to my highly involved efforts for our state convention. I have been asking myself these last few days with all the stress of trying to organize tasks (or should I say cats) and reading the GOP dirty tricks at other state conventions, while still going full steam ahead I have felt very discouraged inside. Your post helps give me the clarity of realizing that even if they barr us from going to Nationals they will not win over all of their party. If we recruit new people to the r3volution well then we really have won haven't we?

Anyway, you did a great job. Your friends and family are very lucky to have such an open minded person who is willing to go the extra distance to get things right.
I'd like to hear from more converts since this election began. People, like you, who voted for the wrong person and now realize Dr. Paul is the real deal. It baffles me a bit because I never ever would look at him as clownish, lacking in charisma, being a poor speaker. Those adjectives do not apply to this man, for me, at all. I think he was very good looking as a younger man and fine looking now, speaks from the heart, has great "bedside" manner, is full of charisma because he is so honest and sincere, very humble and pleasant. A finer human being I cannot imagine. He is 20 times better looking than Guiliani, or Fred, or McCain for Pete sake. McCain has not weathered nearly as gracefully. Their lack of sincerity really turns me off. Their bullying mannerisms are horrible. People say McCain has charisma. Give me a break. And how McCain and Guiliani get beautiful rich women, I will never understand. Women are desperate for power, I guess. Power and money are things that do not impress me.

Thank you. Thanks to dailypaul, and the disturbing news of the FLDS raid that brought me here, I am now supporting our Constitution rather than another politician like John McCain.
I finished writing this letter today and sending it off, but it's something I have been realizing over the past few weeks.
For anyone else that has friends or family that will likely vote for McCain or another bureaucrat, please feel free to use my letter, that's why I shared it here.

I remember your FLDS question posed here not long ago, and your telling us that you were just starting to check out Ron Paul.
I am grateful that you have had the courage to look beyond the mainstream veil and think for yourself; further that you recognize a true patriot when you see one; further still that you are willing to lay it on the line and let your friends and family know about your change of heart, and the reasons behind it.
And I most certainly, definitely hope that I'veSeenTheConstitution reads your comments, and sees that someone came to the revolution thanks to the FLDS threads.
There are many paths to welcome people into the fold of freedom. It matters little to me how people come to have their eyes opened, as long as they do get opened!
