I entered the million dollar challenge on cnbc.com

After the first week, I am in the top .3%. About 1500th. Looking for some good picks to put me over the top. Any suggestions? The reason why I ask on dailypaul is because the sectors that I choose from comes from my knowledge that I have gained from Ron Paul.

I got a deal for anyone entered. Any stock I pick, I will publish here on the dailypaul for those that are also entered. Just spit the symbol out and I will tell you if and when I choose the stock. I will give you plenty of time to ride my coattails.

I also promise to critique each and every legitimate stock pick that is posted.

I am looking for stocks with less than 1.5 billion market cap. Big stocks, generally are slow movers, which is bad in this game.

Try to only post equities that you know are eligible.

Here are my stocks for Monday:

YGE
GOLD
TLVT
SOLF

Remember, this is more like gambling than investing. I know that SOLF made a big move on Friday, but I am gambling the biggest move is Monday. (Plus I entered my stock picks in the a.m. on friday.) YGE has had unprecidented volume and I think is ready to take off. The dollar, I think, is poised to take a tumble in overnight trading on Sunday, hence the GOLD pick. And TLVT has an earnings report coming up and I like the sectors that they key in on.

6% jump. With the bonus bucks will be more like 7%.

I am going to diversify a little tomorrow and hope I am in the running for the weekly prize. Here are my postions (10% each):

Just got back early this morning.

I have a 25% position in four airlines for Tomorrow.

ARM
CAL
LUV
DAL

The airlines are on the verge of bankruptcy, the market cap has slid as much as 60% in the last two weeks on some airlines, so I figured I would gamble that some idiot politician would publicly state what they are already privately thinking. That they would not let the airline industry collapse and that the gov. would subsidize it before letting it fail. When this happens the stocks will soar for the short term.

Even if this doesn't happen, the volatility of the stocks right now indicate the possibility of a big move in one day. Could be up or down. But I think they are ready for an up day.

We shall see tomorrow.

I had to stay in town today for a last minute scheduled meeting.

I have made a bold move for the weekend.

I couldn't pass up the possibility of benefiting from the stupidy of govern.

I will post my picks on Monday when I get back in town and since the markets are not open on Monday. This could be a game changer.

If it works, the irony will have me laughing all the way to the bank.

If not, my portfolio is shot, but it is just a game.

At the risk of people figuring out what I decided to do, I will risk offering a hint.

I went bottom feeding.

I got completely killed today.

Will not even break even with the bunus bucks.

Another day like that, I think it will be a lost cause.

We'll see. I stayed with my 5 picks below. Maybe they will rebound.

I will be traveling for the rest of the week.

Momentum & Fundamentals Trading

There's certainly plenty of money to be made on momentum trading, and the earlier you anticipate movements of the money the better. You also have to beat it out on the other side. I won't argue with any of your results. Taking a handful a positions betters the chances that positive results will push you near the top. I hope you do well.

That said, I also agree with some of your bearish views on the dollar. My views are longer term, however:

Like I said this is gambling, trying to predict the big move one day in advance. I know the volitility is in the sectors that I have chosen, its just picking the right stocks.

Like I said below. I will post my positions after 4:00. If I am not going to get input, no need to announce it while others can use it to their advantage and no advantage to me. I was hoping to get some keen insight.

As it happens, the one stock I chose from the posts below, cost me quite a bit. No worries, like I said, it is more like gambling than investing.

Surprise!!!

I ended up 1% in the black. There must have been a last minute surge. Not only that, but I jumped up 200 spots. Must have been a bad day for everyone. I think my 100% position in commodities will do well tomorrow. Time will tell. I am now in the top 1000 players. Considering there is over 500,000 entrants, not bad. Up just under 20% in 7 market days.

This week will be the last time I post on this subject since there is little interest. It actually gave me a peek inside the movement that I never was able to see before.

Actually, tomorrow will be my last post since I will be traveling. I will pick some more safe positions tomorrow since it will need to show a return over three days.

5/20 update

The Sandisk earnings warning killed me.

I was up about 7% until about 1:00 then my positions took a nose dive.

Still had a 3% return on the day.

Jumped from 1500 to 1100.
