Enumerated powers act to be brought up in Senate
I just received an email in response to my email to my senator. Here is the body of it:
Thank you for following up with me regarding H.R. 1359, the "Enumerated Powers Act." It is good to hear from you again.
The Senate companion measure to H.R. 1359, the "Enumerated Powers Act" will likely be introduced in the coming week.
Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) has contacted me about this legislation and I am reviewing its implications. I'm particularly interested to know how it would be implemented and whether it would create another level of bureaucracy within the Senate to steer through. I will remember your support for this legislation.
Thanks again for contacting me. I hope to hear from you in the future.
United States Senator John Barrasso, M.D.
I wonder if he really does want to hear from me in the future. He hears from me a lot. I didn't like his response, but my other senator had a better one, as he cosponsored it. Here is a site about it: http://www.pointoflaw.com/politics/
And www.downsizedc.org has a lot on it too.
Please contact your reps and senators about this. If this becomes law, no more of those horrible Acts passing, like Patriot Act.
I know it is silly that we have to have something like this, because all of them do take an oath to uphold the Constitution, but perhaps this will force those who don't take it seriously to follow it anyway.

this sounds fantastic
RP Repub Richard Matthews is for this
FYI, I am promoting this as part of my campaign for congress.
Please read http://www.richardmatthews.org/read/?The-Enumerated-Powers-A...
The Enumerated Powers Act is a simple bill that requires Congress, on every bill, to site the constitutional authority relied upon for the enactment of each portion of the Act in question. This straightforward bill should be supported by every member of congress without hesitation. The very fact that it is not supported by many, including Dutch Ruppersberger, is an acknowledgment of the lack of respect for constitutional lawmaking in our nation’s capital.

The Enumerated Powers Act is
The Enumerated Powers Act is a HUGELY important piece of legislation. In regards to ensuring that our Congress members actually honor their oaths of office and abide by the Constitution, this is probably the MOST SIGNIFICANT piece of legislation in a VERY LONG TIME.
Everyone should spend even just a little time to learn about this Bill, then contact your Senators and Representatives and urge them to support it.

Imagine, once this law is passed we can then work on requiring the Congress to comply with this law retroactively with all previously passed legislation. That would mean any prior laws that they cannot cite authorization for in the Constitution would be invalidated.
This is just the first step in giving our Congress no choice but to obey the Constitution.

What we need first is a "Fourth Amendment Restoration Act" nullifying the Bush spy laws, and a "Federal Clean Elections Act" outlawing computer voting.

Letter I just wrote both my senators...
From your previous voting record it seems not only obvious but a great concern to me that you have not done your duty to uphold the Constitution of the US. I would be surprised if you could even name the first 10 amendments, and this is your job. I also doubt that you could even NAME the over 130 countries that we currently have an unnecessary and costly military presence in. That aside, I would be remiss if I did not fervently enjoin you to support HR 1955, the Enumerated Powers act. It is unfortunate that this bill even had to be devised, but it does. The Constitution is the ONLY thing that differentiates this country from all the rest, and if you do not vote FOR this bill, then you are certainly unfit for office as one of the two senators supporting the people of this state, and the State of our Union.
Thank you for your anticipated attention.
Went to www.senate.gov , put in my state and there their email addresses are.
This is the most important
This is the most important piece of legislation ever, and it IS a shame it has to be even written. Anyone who votes against this bill should be seen as the traitors that they are.

reminds me of the video cameras in my factory. Silly, but necessary
