Don't go to ronpaul2008.com today(yesterday)!!!

With the huge amount of people going to ronpaul2008.com for the Leno surge they need all the bandwidth they can get.

Do not go there. They're already starting to overload with 3/10 people getting through to the site.

Don't test it, don't check it. There are plenty of other sites about Ron Paul to visit today.

I'm sure they have a burstable bandwidth cap since even $10 hosting accounts come with them. It's not like if you use all your bandwidths in the morning that you won't have any left for the night.

As long as they have a good server setup they'll be fine. There's nothing really that intensive on the Ron Paul site that's going to take down the server.

Update: Guess their server setup did suck. It's inexcusable not to be ready for a huge national appearance like this.

It's not causing problems, not that I see at least. The original thread just suggested not going there to lessen bandwidth. I hope that's just overcautiousness and they aren't going to have problems...

Actually, don't take down your widgets since everyone looks at yours so they don't have to go to the site.

That said, I don't /think/ it's from the official campaign... If you do notice things start to suck on the site you could then post a warning. I think the warnings if they are not needed make RP look bad though (e.g. "how can he be president if he can't host a website....")

Hey chowda, on the "Full Quarter Total Projection" chart can the red line be re done to reflect the recent revelation that the plan is 3 million in Oct, 4 million in Nov and 5 million in Dec?

I think it will better reflect the momentum the campaign is trying and will build ;-)

Hmm, I sure hope they've figured out that they need a large enough server to handle their traffic by now...

Their site is hosted at rackspace, which is a huge huge provider. Rackspace themselves can certainly handle the bandwidth. They also have far in excess of the "multiple T1s" (and even multiple T3s) mentioned above. If the server goes down it would be because they aren't renting a large enough server (or enough of them).

i'd be very disappointed if they couldn't handle any traffic driven to their site...

and I imagine RP2008 is on a multi circuit T1 dedicated server ...maybe a T3... you cant really ask for more witout it costing WAY more loot.

we got RPgraphs ...we'll be fine for a few days.

The bandwidth to the

The bandwidth to the datacenter has at minimum multiple OC12s, but it's irrelevant. Rackspace.com has plenty of bandwidth... but the bandwidth to the server may be shaped to a specific rate. Or the server may not have the resources to handle the load.

They can establish multiple servers and do load balancing to alleviate any load based problems. It's a good problem to have, if they indeed are facing it.
