According to Lew Rockwells' blogger Nick Bradley who was present, the Iowa Rally that was planned by the Ron Paul campaign after he was excluded from a forum put on by the Iowans for Tax Reform and the Iowa Christian Alliance, drew 1,000 people, 400 more than the ITR/ICA rally which had invited all of the other Republican candidates.

That's a heck of a lot of spammers! ;-)

Not only that, the video proves it...

Let's substantiate the 1,000 number

Instead of claim and counterclaim (500, 600, 1000), let's set a good example and do some math.
The RP rally was in Hall C, right? From my seat in CA, I Google it, (Hy-Vee Hall - Meeting Planner Information) and scroll down. Hall C is nearly 50,000 square feet. If you divide by 1,000, you get 50 square feet per person, clearly absurd. So they must have been using only a fraction of the hall for seating. Can anyone CONFIRM how much seating there actually was set up? I mean, not gee-wiz, not "I was there", but "there were definitely X seats, because Y says so". There is bound to be a record of "X", because I'm sure a decision was made as to how much seating to provide. It costs money.
There was standing room only and probably a couple of 100's standing. X+100 should be conservative number. If there were at least 900 seats, you've established a fact and it's no longer claim vs counter-claim, but fact vs lie.
This is not rocket science. Let's settle the matter and move on, please. And next time, let's have a STILL camera take a shot from the stage with a wide-angle lens. Then post a link to it.
While we're at it, it would be nice to work out similar numbers for the ITR/ICA.

Go, RP.

How's this for proof

I was the primary usher, picked out of the north parking lot by Heather (lovely young lady, really). I had the opportunity to invite the walking public to come in and eat as a guest of the Congressman. I was posted at the doors when all the guests arrived, I was responsible for greeting each of them and directing them to the back wall and to the left, for their food ticket. I have my usher badge and Heather's phone number if anyone wants to check.

The fact is, I was told by multiple people in suits that there were 1000 seats. I know we assembled 1000 envelopes with donation forms, a bumper sticker, and a slimjim with an RP/Reagan pic on the back, to put in each chair. The a/v guy had a smoke with me and pointed out that they had upped the equipment order at the last minute, apparently confident the event would fill up. It did. Video is on youtube of the room being filled, and facilities people at Hy Vee can verify that it's 1000 seats RP ordered that are obviously filled in the video and photos.

There were people standing, and there were still a good number of people eating, when Ron Paul took the stage. I was extremely satisfied, and that's after a 12 hour overnight drive. I think everyone who organized, worked for, volunteered, or supported this event did a great job. It was much larger and more elaborate than I expected, to be completely honest. Also, we had 850 meal tickets, and from my contacts, I get that we handed out 800. A lot of people weren't interested in food, I might add - I had a bit of a conundrum when they would refuse the direction toward the dining area and want to go sit up front (the first 3 rows were reserved for family, campaign staff, media, pastor and his guests, local politicians and figures, etc). Also of note, everyone who came to show our flesh and blood support was well behaved and many were very well informed.

militant0 at gmail if anyone wants verification via photo of myself with usher badge and carrying 8'x5' signs and so forth, and Heather to provide verification as well. We have to capitalize on this, prove the numbers and get the respect for our efforts.

Cool

So that leaves the question of where the press reports' 600 number got pulled out of and who did the pulling.

Re: Please Digg it up too

Exactly what we wanted...Thanks!!!

Probably Selfish But....

I'm a Ron Paul junkie living in Sydney, Australia and rushed home from church on Sunday 1st (your saturday 30th) to check the Daily Paul...(my 13 year old son laughed at me but nevertheless sat through the Ron Paul speech with me, ha ha!) Thank you to those of you posting vids asap. I have a request that I'm sure would be echoed by others that are too far (impossible) to physically take part in RP's events. Would love to see vids of audience, crowds outside venue, the meeting of supporters at the park etc. It just allows us to get a feel for the movement from a "grassroots" perspective. Also a great way to motivate others to physically join in the support. Lastly, my husband is an American who has been living and raising a family here in Australia for the last 15 years. For the first time in 15 years he is seriously considering moving all of us (myself and our 4 kids) back to the States if Ron Paul wins. Like it or not, this is an International revolution and the world eagerly anticipates the HOPE that Ron has lovingly brought into this mess we call our world... GO RP 2008!!!!!

One video?

This is great, and I'm glad they got the whole speech, but is there any chance we could get it all in one video, that would be easy to refer friends and family to? I think this video does a great job of laying out his platform, but it's annoying to have to start a new video every three minutes.

I like the small changes

I like the small changes I noticed the delivery of his message. He used the term commodity money instead of the gold standard. It's a lot more accurate. He also alluded to fractional reserve banking practices, but I wish he had actually used the term a few times so that people would get the term stuck in their heads and go look it up. Maybe he doesn't need to in a crowd of his own supporters but in the future, when he's speaking to the uninformed, I wish he would throw the term out there more often. People will wonder "why is this so important?" and maybe look into it a little deeper. Once they realize that it's a big problem, and they realize that Paul is the only one addressing this issue, they will see that he is really the only candidate worthy of the presidency.

Thank you Jane,

for the videos.

Here is another brief blog update from the scene:
http://kennethjr.info/?p=86

A great Rally in Iowa

I just returned from my drive to see Ron Paul. The amount of supporters was definately around 1000. Seating was 99.9% filled except for some seating in the very last couple rows which was blocked by a platform
There were also people standing along the walls.

Paul's support was at least double the amount of people for the ITR/ICA forum/debate.

There were plenty of people documenting the crowd with video, I was so far in the back and it was a fairly large space that I was getting echo feedback from the speaker system, so I am looking forward to watching the rally again to listen to what I might have missed.

All in all it was a great showing - Ron Pauls support at his events keep getting bigger and bigger.

Get video of the crowd, too

A suggestion for videographers of the Ron Paul revolution: Be sure to get video of the crowd at events where Ron Paul appears, not just him speaking, so viewers can see for themselves the true level of support.

New Video

Check out the edit I just made! It's wonderful

MSM version of the event...but video, too!

http://www.iowapolitics.com/index.iml?Article=99314

Iowapolitics.com reports 500 for Dr. Paul instead of 1000, and the Forum as 800 instead of 600, in an apparent attempt to save face for Ed Failor.

The good news is that there's a video of the first 9 minutes of Dr. Paul's speech.

And, for good measure, the guy who misreported the numbers, Chris Dorsey:

Barely mentioned

Another news outlet BARELY mentioned Ron except to say he had his own event next door. NO mention of how many supporters, etc.

I have already warned the AP not to twist this, because there were too many witnesses there.

What does it take for some of these erroneous news reports to be considered libelous? WE must keep after the son of a guns.

Try to respond calmly (I know it's tough) and repeat the indisputable facts about the numbers. You could also ask what good it does them to suppress these things? Don't they believe in truth and fairness in reporting? Ask them if they ever expect to be credible after lying to our faces now that we have videos, YouTube and eye witnesses and instant reporting on the web!

This person will make your blood boil...it would be funny if not for it being so pathetic an attack on Ron. Imagine, he claims in the last sentence that the UN is protected from criticism under the US Constitution!

I think NOT! LOL

Contact the Editor

Mr. Sumcad is obviously a propogandist. He claims objectivity, but anyone with a basic degree of intelligence and rationale can easily recognize his blatant bias and subjectivity. Contacting him is just a waste of time and energy. It's better to contact the editor of the American Chronicle and very calmly register your objections to his articles and ask that they be removed and that he be denied from any further contributions.

editor@amchron.com

Remember, it's an opinion piece, and Mr. Sumcad is entitled to his opinion. But, he needs to find a more civil and respectful way to express himself. As it is, his derogatory comments, such as referring to Ron Paul supporters as "lepers", are filled with contempt and arrogance and are not fit for publication.

American Chronicle hit piece

Here's the email I sent to the "journalist" , and I use the term lightly,
who wrote this hit piece

Edwin A. Sumcad
Author -- has written published, unpublished academic papers; has long years of newspaper experience, writing daily and magazine editorials, essays, feature articles, columns, novelettes, short stories. Academic, other works -- has degrees in literature and jornalism, masters in development economics, and in civil law; journalist, practicing lawyer, Finance Attache, ASEAN specialist, retired diplomat, and former deputy permanent representative to the United Nations.

So,are you also a member of the CFR? It sure sounds like it from reading your rants. You sound just like a globalist in your attacks on Ron Paul. Your spin on what he has to say is typical of the MSM smear tactics I see everywhere I look. He must really have you and your ilk scared, because you won't report what he says honestly and fairly. You keep spinning your spin, we don't need you, we will get his message out without you. America is waking up!
Kenneth R. Kruse
P.S. Is your name pronounced like Some cad? It fits.

Hot Damn!

I can't wait to see the video from this event. I've been waiting for news all day! Thanks!

The AP better not lie now!

Ron = 1,000
"Also Rans" = 600

LOL!!!!!!

Just as I predicted!!! :-)
