State of Texas Trying to appeal the appeal already !!!!!
Submitted by doctor011 on Fri, 05/23/2008 - 14:29
Texas - Texas child welfare authorities on Friday appealed a ruling in the polygamist sect case, arguing that the state was right to put more than 440 children in foster care.
The state is also asking the Texas Supreme Court to allow it to keep custody of the children until the appeals are settled.
The filings Friday come one day after the Third Court of Appeals in Austin said the state failed to show the children were in any immediate danger when they were rounded up last month. LOOKING LIKE THEY WANT A WAR!!!!

Are you all bumping this, thinking it's safe now ?
I would lay low with these FLDS threads when all the 'flag first, ask questions later' is going on.
Besides, their about to release the children (or is it Adults? - depends on what time it is, i guess).
Are we to expect up-to-the-minute updates on the FLDS lawsuit against the Texas CPS all the way to the March, State Conventions, National dates and beyond ?
When does this subject "END"? Can we get a time table for the FLDS thread withdrawal from DP ?
Look, I feel for them, I really do. But their winning court battles and have a massive legal team, ok, so it's looking brighter for the families.
I just honestly wonder sometimes how much damage this non-stop posting about this has done to the campaign. Although there is a possibility it may have gained some Romney supporters (i do believe that), the constant BOMBARDMENT here pushes aside actual RP news, politics,McCain, delegates, the march, the wars,,, you know...actual "Presidential" stuff. It's counter-productive. This does not mean that "we" don't care about them. Thats a technicality.
Do this: go to www.dailypaul.com and browse through the MAIN pages to remind yourselves what this site is about. How many are about the FLDS situation ? Exactly.
I'm begging you 7 to take this somewhere else.
btw - yes i did. it's only a matter of time anyway, so you might want to save this.
...And, yes, I have seen The Constitution
At least a few new DPers have come to the Ron Paul campaign
BECAUSE of this issue. But I wouldn't expect you to care.

Nothing more sickening and pathetic than government trying to save face when they are in the wrong.

I have lost 2 friends
I have lost 2 friends because of this tragedy. I have been yelled and cussed at for defending these people and their beliefs. I can't seem to explain I am defending the Constitution and people's rights.
I am not a genius and I too was a sheep until a year ago. Why is it so hard for people to see how wrong this illegal raid, search, seizure and kidnapping is?
sounds like you're just
sounds like you're just making room for some true freinds
to rprevolutionist
Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of the truth. Your former friends sound somewhat narrow minded. I am surprised they did not previously disown you for your support of Ron Paul, given their apparent inability to investigate a matter before making a decision.
RP2012!
look, this is the ABSOLUTE CORE OF THE ISSUE FOR US.....
PEOPLE ARE BRAINWASHED BY THE MEDIA, SENSATIONALISM.......
Please spell out your friends(or ex-friends) logic, as to why these children are in danger, and why you are wrong. We must know how the masses think, before we can successfully de-program them
Because they are raping
Because they are raping little girls, because of the polygamy yadda yadda. All I tell them is I do not know about their religeon. But it is wrong to go on a "tip" and steal over 400 children. If there is real proof of abuse that it should be handled on a 1 family at a time investigation. But you are right, so many are brainwashed and believe that the government has the right to just go in and seize anyone anywhere. The American mentality scares the hell out of me.
There is none so blind as he who will not see.
exactly

"Evidence shouldn't matter when the crime is this heinous!"

Fortune Favors the Bold
SERIOUSLY, I APPRECIATE your posting this question
I don't have all the links about this...but I do know that there is not one rape happening with these girls...now in the history of polygamy...maybe....but then again there is rape every day in all types of religions....(ie catholic, baptist, etc) I think the point is were there any crimes being committed...here?
----point #1 FACT: the caller that called was a prank caller that has been arrested in Colorado.
---point #2 FACT: the "man" who was supposed to have been the child rapist...was not and had not been in Texas for over 15 years, or so...
---point #3 FACT: The person know as Sara (who was the alleged 16 year old that the caller said was her) so far does not even exist......
---point #4 FACT: it is NOT required to have multiple wives in this religion in order to become part of their religion..it is an option, kind of like communion or baptism in other religions...(or confession, etc)
and when or if a person does choose to get married (spiritually, so to speak) they do it of their own free will.
If you want me to post links substantiating this , I will .just let me know.
INTERESTING NOTE BTW---CURRENT MONOGAMOUS MARRIAGES IN THE USA END UP IN DIVORCE (about 40-60%) of the time....while the poly. marriages...very few.
well
Fortune Favors the Bold
to be fair, you can't KNOW there was no rape.
Fortune Favors the Bold
If by rape you mean non-consensual sex
then I think it is fairly safe to say that "rape" in the true meaning of the word is not something that is likely to occur in this culture, though of course anything is possible, as some people from all religions do bad things.
But considering the manner of marriage, where a girl goes to the religious leader, requests a placement marriage, is then given the name of a potential husband, then she approves or says no to the suggested groom, then has one more chance to say "no" at the actual wedding ceremony, it is reasonably certain that no one ends up married who does not want to get married.

TX CPS had no legal grounds
TX CPS had no legal grounds for taking the kids away in the first place and now they want to keep them until after the appeals process? Some nerve they have.
From the article: "The state conceded this week that at least 15 of the 31 mothers they held in foster care as minors were actually adults; one is 27."
I wonder if those adults now have any legal basis to file claims of false imprisonment against CPS...
...
Have needles gone into the innocent children's arms yet?
.
Can anyone confirm one-way-or-another if the toxins-of-the-state have been force-injected into these healthy youth yet?

overused quote, but...
I couldn't help but think of it. :)
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak for me.
Pretty crazy stuff
I find this part to be kind of interesting though.
"I guarantee you that the chickenpox outbreak will be perceived by the group as a sign of wickedness in the outside world," noted Christopher D. Bader, an associate professor of sociology at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, who studies fringe religious groups. "Every event that happens in [extreme religious sect members'] lives is seen in a religious worldview."
funny seeing a most Trinitarians believe in you must have a Christian worldview This is the strong leg that the Christian Coalition stood on. Of course they have droped that title but they all still preach you must have a Christian worldview. Thats why they are so active in the political process now days. Thats why the get into huge court battles. I mean has anyone listen to boch radio. Its worldview this and worldview that. That everything you do in life should be done through your faith. Ok so from now on they are not Christian or saints or congragations they should also be labeled [extreme religious sect members'] so what we have here is one extremist group kidnaping another extremist groups children what next strap bombs onto the kids and let them run itno buildings then ignite it. Then they can have them a big headline of 5 6 year old FLDS kids blow up building oh they would just love that woueldn't they. I'm telling you the light is starting to shine not only in the darkness but on it as well You christians and government works should be careful not to open your eyes the light might blind you or at least reveal your ugly faces horns and tails. I think the kid was taught well mister baptist preacher you are the devil. I also agree with the kid that there is no three headed God also. there is only one person of God Jesus Christ. The Son of Mand (jesus) had the Son of God (Holy Spirit) in him. See mister Baptist Preacher man one Savior not three two distinctions of one man Spirit and flesh. Amazing almost as if man was made in Gods image. And another think the father can have no distinction hes God hes greater than you can comprehind The only thing thing man has seen is the Son of Man. him and his father are one He said unless I go to my Father who is in hevan the comforter will not come. Why did he say that cause he knew if he stayed on earth man would worship his flesh.
Yeah his flesh the Holy spirits flesh. that is why he asended into heven then sent the Holy Spirit back to earth. Because unlike your Spirit God can proceed from himself. Thats called omnipresent. Its kind of like you reach out to grab something with your hand its not all of you but everything you are is in the hand (its 100% you). Yet it proceed forth to do work. You think teaching people about government and Ron Paul is tough guys try teaching people about Jesus. I'm telling you if people don't stop watching that stupid propaganda box and listening to the liars at their schools this country isn't going to have a god to save them from their devil. Thats right I said your name again preacher man.
Has there been
any estimation of what all this is costing the people of Texas? I bet it's millions. I know people who post here don't want even a penny of their taxes to be spent on this but what about everyone else? It boggles my mind how many people think the government does things for free. They'll say the government should do this or that and when you ask them "how much more of your money are you willing to give to the government for that? " they look at you with blank, uncomprehening stares.
The financial repurcussions of this will be felt by every Texan. There's also the strain on resources, like manpower, being diverted from places that need it.
I don't think the average person would be willing to spend all of this money without more substantial proof of abuse.
Yes: over $7 million so far
But don't worry! The legislature is coming up with a plan to make the parents and the church pay for their own kidnapping!

Excerpted from the article:
State may try to seize sect's assets
By JOHN MORITZ
jmoritz@star-telegram.com
AUSTIN — With the price care for the more than 400
children seized last month from the polygamist ranch
in West Texas expected to reach into the tens of
million of dollars, a legislative panel on Tuesday
suggested that the state explore the possibility of
garnishing the religious organization's assets to
recoup the costs.
"That compound didn't grow out of fairy dust," state
Sen. Robert Deuell, R-Greenville, said after a Senate
Finance Committee hearing where he urged state health
officials to determine whether members of the
Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints (FLDS), or even the sect as a whole, be held
responsible for the cost of care. "Why should we be
footing the bill when they've got assets?"
The remarks came after the panel heard testimony that
providing foster care, Medicaid coverage and casework
for the children from the YFZ (Yearning For Zion)
Ranch will likely cost taxpayers more than $1.7
million a month for as long as they are in state
custody. The figure does not include the $5.3 million
for the first six weeks of the operation or the cost
of providing the required legal representation for
each child, which is likely to total at least $2.2
million.
RP2012!
I wonder just how much
they are going to charge for the forced inoculations as well as the indoctrination to corn syrupped based junk food which they are forcing the children to consume? Bottom line folks is that they will not tolerate anyone successfully living out of their system. The pedophile charges area a catch all and trust me, they are looking hard into ways they can place a stigma such as that on gun owners. Make them look like perverts to the masses of Dancing With the Stars or American Idol viewers and its a cake walk after that. Who needs the Constitution when you have mainstream TV?
If not us than who?
i hear that childhood immunizations
cost about $300 total. Just add it to the $27.9 million the state wants for the rest of their expenses.
RP2012!
When Was The Last Time...
anyone heard the government admitting it made a mistake? If they lose the appeal it will be the fault of the "left wing activist court system". Although, I'm pretty sure such a thing does not exist in Texas. The government does not want to be restrained by the Constitution.
it's not going to have much choice
feet held to a fire will soon learn to walk the line we've been asked to walk ourselves.
time to stick a short stick.
sounds like our government needs a hot tea enema.

alaskaron that is
something I never would have seen. That is wild and its straight out of daniel WOW! I will be reading through those scritpure right now. That is unbelievable Thank you for posting that.
Pretty cool, eh? :-)
I want to say it, for I haven't outright said it probably: I admire the FLDS people. Yes, I admire them.
I admire them for:
* their commitment to maintaining in health and purity the temple that is their bodies. Their religious commitment to treating their bodies as sacred, and eating whole, healthy foods, most home made and home grown.
* They avoid as much as possible foreign substances, unneedful medications (vaccinations for one). Any 27 or 29 year old woman who is accused of being 14 or 15 would be flattered under circumstances other than CPS custody issues. Eating healthy and avoid unnecessary chemicals in your body allows one to maintain a great shape, even after multiple births, maintain a youthful appearance, and to maintain strength and vigour.
* their strong devotion to their children and their families. This should go without saying, but they are extremely family oriented. Anyone who looks at the pictures and home movies on www.captivefldschildren.org will readily see this devotion to family.
* their strong devotion and commitment to each other as a faith community. This has been mocked and used as a source of derision, especially in the media. They are called cultish and insular, but this is not true at all. They believe in the scriptures of the new testament, where loving one's neighbor is second only to loving God. They believe in the Book of Mormon which says that when we are serving our fellow men it is as though we are serving God himself. Jesus Christ said a similar thing in the New Testament. Also, they practice the words of Paul in Romans who said the saints are to "prefer one another" over themselves, and also the scriptures which call for the saints to be in one accord. These are things that are easier preached than practiced. But from what I have seen, these folks do a very good job of practicing them.
* the devotion to peace, Unnecessary conflict and strife are avoided in the FLDS culture. An attitude of peace prevails. The golden rule rules.
* there are other things, too, but I will stop for now.
Of course, not every single individual member of that church lives up to the ideal in all things. There are strong members, weak members, doubting members, and all manner of varying degrees of faith and the practice thereof. But the ideal to which the faith strives to attain is one that I admire, and I admire those who strive to perfect themselves, to be perfect even as Christ is, and as he has commanded Christians to be.
I don't mean to get too preachy, but I wish to add my witness to the court of public opinion that this is a peaceful, family-oriented religion; that these people's religion asks them to strive to live Godly lives, peaceful lives, full of love for one another. It breaks my heart to see the slanders repeated day in and day out, as if they were true.
I am equally grateful for the Ron Paul community. In fact, it was on this very site that I first learned about the raid. I had not seen it in the news until I saw a post from "doctor011" (I think that is the screen name, my apologies if I am incorrect) who posted the news to this very site of the raid. From that moment, I knew the Ron Paul community was going to rally to the defense of the Constitutional rights of this persecuted people.
You all deserve a bit pat on the back for your defense of their rights, even though I know their religion turns many of you off. Even though some of you are atheists or agnostics, and have no use for religion personally, you have stood by these people, and written letters, made countless phone calls, and done all you could to help. Even though many of you who are Christians see the Mormon religion and its fundamentalists as a false religion, you have stood up for the rights of others, and for that I thank you, also. I also know of quite a few mainstream LDS members who are also Ron Paul supporters, who have gone against the tide and dared to support your fundamentalist "cousins", even though your (our) own church has a beef with them. Any LDS people who have fought for the rights of the FLDS have made me feel so much more faith in the people of my own church, that there is some hope that they can truly put into action our Eleventh Article of Faith.

So have these kids been vaccinated (violated) yet?
I've read scare-mongering articles how 12 of these kids had chickenpox (oh horror), and they "needed" to be vaccinated.
Have they been vaccinated yet?
I'll probably cry if so.
It's such a HUGE, HUGE violation of their health and religious rights - and just plain HUMAN rights.
