Lets see if the Libertarian Party marginalizes themselves on CSPAN at 10:30am cst

The Libertarian Party, former party that Ron Paul campaigned for President is having its nominating process today. Lets see if they marginalize themselves with a noname candidate or actually want to help the country with someone that can win. Purism in politics is death for the American people and will never win, a party the size of a phone booth will be marginalized. They have a chance, this is their year, will the blow it with an unknown and forever show to all potential crossover candidates from other parties that the Libertarian Party does not welcome you.
I hope not, I hope the Libertarian Party acts its age at 36 years old and realizes that purism will never win and they much reach farther than their small base of support.

Who will you vote for
if Ron Paul doesn't get the GOP nomination? Much as I would like to see that happen, it doesn't seem likely. That is why we should pay attention to the third party candidates and, in particular, the Libertarian Party because they have ballot access in more states than any other third party and they may actually be choosing a candidate who has a good shot of continuing to spread the message of freedom into the future. If Ron Paul does not get the GOP nomination, I will vote Libertarian. Bob Barr is not my #1 choice, but he seems to regret his mistakes and wants to work on correcting them. That shows character. Wayne A. Root may be OK - haven't heard him enough. Mary Ruwart has been in the LP a long time, has a book "Healing Our World" which is credited with bringing women and others into the party.

I'm hoping for either Mary
I'm hoping for either Mary Ruwart or Bob Barr... or a combined ticket... I think they all have claims of good connections/resources... but they need a realistic candidate (so many of them look like kooks). They need to pull these resources behind one of the two REAL candidates.
Bob Barr does not=Ron Paul
Ron Paul has serious differences with Bob Barr and most of the other Libertarians running. Most don't come close.
Why now? Why now before the convention do you want to switch when there could be a real upset in St. Paul.
Stop all this nonsense get behind Ron Paul and stop fragmenting his support in every direction.
Hear, Hear eilif!!
Well said. People need to just shaddup about wolves in sheep's clothing infiltrators and support the only true Champion of the Constitution, Dr. Ron Paul.
None of them will register with the voters
Libertarians are third parties. Third parties, unless self-financed by a rich Ross Perot type candidate don't get significant media coverage. The vast majority of voters will never be bothered to really learn about ALL the candidates. They vote based on hearing a few sound bites from the Democrat or Republican candidates. They won't consider anyone else because they KNOW the others don't have a chance. So, for Libertarians, whether its Barr, Ruwart, Kubby or whoever, their total vote percentage won't differ much based upon who their candidate is. Rather, they are not a serious political party in the sense of getting anyone elected, but they are good as educational outreach for those few people who have a real interest in learning about the failure of government solutions to social and economic problems - and hope their ideas eventually catch fire. It looks like the most likely avenue is to take over the demoralized Republican Party with Ron Paul followers. But while the Libertarian Party exists it ought to push candidates who understand and support libertariansim.

Marlow, I agee but that is a long process, we need action now
While I agree with Ron Paul in re-establishing the Republican Party, that is a long process that will take at least 4 years.
We also need to think about now, and what happens if we don't get Ron Paul the nomination in St. Paul. In that case, we need to shadow campaign for another candidate. Bob Barr is already anywhere from 6-8% nationally depending on what poll you look at - thats better than Ross Perot started out with at 5% and Perot didn't hit 7% until early September - Barr is way ahead of him. This year is different, everyone is fed up with the two parties in a more militant way.
If Ron Paul does not have anyway to run, then we need to go with the person that is closest to Ron in almost every way. That would be Bob Barr if they nominate him.
this guy with bob barr
this guy with bob barr AGAIN. Jeez. You just haven't grasped it yet have you. The closest thing to Ron Paul is Chuck Baldwin. He wants us out of NATO, non interventionist foreign policy, END THE FEDERAL RESERVE, end the IRS etc etc. Bob Barr has a small minority of points that he is equivalent to Dr.Paul on. I know your argument....Barr is getting more coverage than Baldwin and t herefore stands a better chance at winning yada yada yada f**king yada. You just DONT get it do you????? Obama......McCain......they are getting more coverage than Barr, Baldwin, Dr.Paul combined.....so does that mean we should vote for them because they stand a better chance at winning? NO!!! It's about principles and sticking to them. Barr doesn't have any as evidenced by his private life and the votes he's cast in the past, not to mention he is still for the drug war, a foreign policy of intervention......which TOTALLY excludes that moron from even being considered, he has no qualms with the Federal Reserve and the list is forever long. Sorry bud, we aren't compromising this time. It doesn't matter if we have to write Ron Paul in with a Sharpie Marker on the Liebold machines monitor.
Hear Hear, NeoConned!
What ever happened to "Won't Get Fooled Again" and sticking to your principles?
I would never ever vote for a candidate that joins an
I would never ever vote for a candidate that joins an Anti-Catholic Party and thats what the Consttution Party is - too bad they have religious qualifications in that party.
Pro-War on Drugs CIA member = GOOD
but anti-Catholic = BAD.
Seems you've conveniently forgotten that Bob Barr proposed that the Pentagon ban the practice of Wicca in the military. Religious intervention okay with you as long as it's Barr?
Yes, I can see why you are a Bob Barr supporter, you do not think logically.
What party is that? The
What party is that? The Libertarian Party is all for 1st amendment and religious freedom. In fact, they're for all of the Bill of Rights! You must be thinking of another party . . .
dagney
The Constitution Party has religious qualifications
The CP is anti-Catholic, and I am Catholic could never join them, they have had huge fights about it and some states have disaffiliated.
If the Libertarians dont vote upon principle I hope
They "dont marginalize themselves" if Rudy Guiliani runs for their nomination and nominate the "Good" mayor

I’ve been following Steve for over ten years now and I can assure you he is a TRUE revolutionary candidate. he has said he will step aside and support ron paul if paul wins the republican Nom. or runs as a third party candidate.
