With the exception of Mary Ruwart and Bob Barr, Libertarian Presidential candidates are a bunch of nut jobs

I watched their candidates debate last night, and some speeches today and honestly I see a bunch of wing nuts, with the exception of Mary Ruwart ( HUGE Ron Paul supporter and inventor of the Ron Paul Revolution Logo) and Bob Barr a close friend to Ron Paul.
The rest are not qualified except Gravel who is too left wing for me.

Ruwart...
didn't she favor decriminalizing child pornography?

The shills are at work here.
Bob Barr 'was' CIA and a Federal Prosecutor in the "war on drugs"
Christine Smith delivered the best speech of the Libertarian Convention.
It is nice to see that we are attracting our fair share of shills here.

Christine Smith
came across as a psycho.
That's because she IS psycho
she got a grand total of 36 tokens to get in the debate, then 6 votes on the first ballot for dead last and was dropped.
I'm going ba-ack to my Ron Paul College now.

Somebody
school me up on Mary Ruwart, please.
I have heard one radio interview with her, and I think it was on Free State Project or Antiwar radio, I don't remember.
Anyway, my impression was that she was as bland as milquetoast, skirted discussions on important issues, and seemed so "politician-like" that she turned me off totally.
Maybe I got the wrong impression.
I need a candidate that can sink their teeth into these red-meat issues with some vitality, not Casper Milquetoast.
Ron Paul has the stomach for it, in my opinion.
Mary Ruwart left me cold. I turned off the radio during her interview. I felt like I was listening to a "Stepford woman".
What am I missing here? She seems to be popular with some people here.
Good friend of Dr.Paul
But she didn't get it. So that takes care of that.
What didn't she get?
Ron Paul endorsed her book, Healing Our World. Its one of the best introductory books to libertarianism ever written. You'll have to look long and hard to find anyone with a more comprehensive awareness of libertarianism.

She didn't get
the nomination. Barr won on the 6th ballot. Ms Ruwart was elected to the Libertarian National Committee the next day, though.

I totally agree. Root
I totally agree. Root scares me.... the others look like jokes (no offense).
I like Ruwart and Barr. I'm hoping for a joined ticket of the two.
I think they all have claims of good resources... Ruwart represents us (Ron Paul people) and libertarians and women. Barr has the conservatives/disgruntled Republicans. Jingozian has the tools as a business man for advertisement. Root has poker players and small businessmen. Gravel has liberals/democrats. Cubby has pro-marijuana people.
They need to go with Ruwart/Barr or something and then pull all their resources together...
and Christine Smith is going on a crazy rant....
so the mud starts flying
hope I don't get any in my eyes. Jeez I feel like I'm getting a case of apathy. so little time and so few choices. I think I'm going to vote for micky mouse.
Bob Barr VOTED for the IRAQ WAR and PATRIOT ACT!
While helping republicans and democrats who are in power by adding our voices to their good points might be a good idea. I don't see how backing or endorsing people who are not total adherents to the idea of liberty, to lead the LIBERTARIAN party would help us.
Mr. Barr voted both for the Iraqi war amd the Patriot Act. The two biggest issues in the last administration. Those two votes are consistently anti-liberty, therefore anti-libertarian.
We MUST resist the desire for quick fixes. We must maintain our INTEGRITY; otherwise we have already failed.
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/50144 This essay in more detail makes a case for not selling out, and the danger of co-opting, dilution of ideas and the dangers ahead for the revolution as already seen in the after result of the Goldwater revolution.

Borisimo are you an idiot
Who cares, Barr has been railing against the Iraq war since 2004 - he is AGAINST the war. Also he has railed against the Patriot act six months after it passed, saying it was a mistake he voted for it, in addition he put a sunset clause in it.
You need to read and learn, and not just spread propoganda. Not everyone is Ron Paul, but you have to see who is going to be closest to Ron Paul - Ron Paul and Barr are close friends and Barr supported nearly all of Ron Paul's proposed legislation.
Thank goodness for the name
Thank goodness for the name calling. That always makes you and your post superior to others. (not)
And no I will not even think of supporting barr.
I might be an IDIOT for answering this... ~BUMP~
But the fact remains...
Will we really vote for people who don't have the foresight to know that the bills they are voting for are anti liberty?
This is why we must maintain our INTEGRITY. It is too easy to vote against liberty and later on say..... Me so solly.... me no mean no harm. Ooopss... one million Iraqis dead, four thousand American soldiers no longer breath.... Every one in America under a state of surveillance.... No Habeas Corpus....
YES, I must be an idiot because I don't see how voting for compromisers help us!
Did you read the article on INTEGRITY? http://www.dailypaul.com/node/49907 Have you learned that the Goldwater Revolution -which was as big as this one- gave us CFR Reagan?

F**k you and your posts.
F**k you and your posts. Quit trying to subvert the Revolution. Barr is a CIA mole who voted for the war, the patriot act, is for a foreign policy of intervention, more drug war, and doesnt give 2 shi*ts about ending the federal reserve. If that doesn't sink into your thick skull nothing will.
Bob Barr voted...
for the Patriot Act! I will not vote for him. I will vote Constitution Party or write in Ron Paul instead..

Maybe, but the Constitition Party is anti-Catholic
Sorry I am a Catholic - they lose my vote
I honestly did not know that--
but I 'd vote for Ruwart...IF she won
Do you have any concrete evidence of the Constitution Party being anti-Catholic?

Well lets see - how about the former VP candidate for the CP who ran on that ticket, left for that exact reason.
OK, but what about Baldwin, personally?

Go Ron Paul!!!
"Christianity in its true sense puts an end to government. So it was understood at its very commencement; it was for that cause that Christ was crucified. So it has always been understood by people who were not under the necessity of justifying a Christian government. Only from the time that the heads of government assumed an external and nominal Christianity, men began to invent all the impossible, cunningly devised theories by means of which Christianity can be reconciled with government. But no honest and serious-minded man of our day can help seeing the incompatibility of true Christianity--the doctrine of meekness, forgiveness of injuries, and love--with government, with its pomp, acts of violence, executions, and wars. The profession of true Christianity not only excludes the possibility of recognizing government, but even destroys its very foundations".
I don't see nut jobs
Without exception, I see people who are for liberty and freedom. I see some people I like to listen to and some I cannot stand to listen to. But I see NO nut jobs. I see differenct personalities, different degrees of professionalism, different abilities to communicate. But no NUT JOBS. Not one.
I see what America won't vote for
I see what America won't vote for, and thats why Ron Paul was so successful. He presented himself as sane and did well even though the mainstream media and the Neocon tried to make him something else - these people would be nailed to the cross.
I like Ruwart. She's much
I like Ruwart. She's much more principled the Barr
Tracy
Ruwart is a good one, but............
Purity in politics is a big NO NO - you will never get a majoirty of the votes, and either you elect someone that can win or it will just get worse.
Ron Paul is a great example, he is running on the Republican ticket, is an elected Republican by has lots and lots of Libertarian issues he supports.
Ron Paul was popular because he bridged the gap, he was well known enough to actually garner support and that helped launch his campaign.
Ruwart is great on the issues, but seriously nobody knows who she is - if you think you had a hard time with the Ron Paul -- Do you remember all the "Google Ron Paul" stuff, your job is a billion times harder with Ruwart.
I think Bob Barr is the best chance out of all the candidates to make noise and catch fire against Obama McCain.
