What came first Ron Paul or the Revolution

What came first The Revolution Movement or Ron Paul?
I am sure I should know the answer to this question. I know Ron Paul says he didn't start the movement but was it born from his ideals or Libertarian ideals. A discussion on this might be helpful for all new supporters and to progress the movement beyond September. It will be a challenge to keep the momentum. Are we up for it?

I was watching a video
and the man was telling how when geese fly the lead goose gets tired he drops back and lets another goose take the lead. That way the geese can travel much further. If a goose is injured two other geese stay behind until the goose either gets better or dies. The geese then continue on until they catch up to the other geese.
This sounds like what we must do to go as far as we can in our efforts to reclaim our civil liberties. Dr. Paul has given us a compass and a road map. Dr. Paul has been a wonderful role model for us on INTEGRITY, TRUTH and HUMILITY the corner stone of this revolution. We are learning so much about ourselves and what we are capable of and challenges we face. Dr. Paul continues to say let's have fun. Yes, Yes let's have fun. All work and no play make us cranky. It doesn't matter who our fellow patriots vote for or their reasons. Freedom is popular because it treats us as adults. In St. Paul, Dr. Paul will give us direction why are we fighting? Nothing has to change we are still on the same flight path and the head goose is still in front and he doesn't look tired. Hee,hee Peace

I do not believe this movement began with Dr. Paul.
I believe there is a natural human response to 'higher authority", and that is rebellion. I believe that seed is ever present. I believe that there were many, many people in this world who understood the detriment of suppression, political or otherwise, before Ron Paul made his presence known. Dr. Paul has articulated this inherent human trait throughout his many years of logical and intellectual thought and study. I believe Dr. Paul, as many of us, discovered others that too knew of this inherent human trait. He found others that, before him, had throughout many years of logical and intellectual thought and study discovered the nature of the individual...we refer to these people as our 'Founding Fathers'. And so that ever present seed began to develop in Dr. Paul. We now may witness the flowering of that seed, and with it, a form of solidarity. I do not believe this movement began with Dr. Paul, but I do believe he has created brain space, I do believe he has put a skip in disc, and I believe it is this momentary hiccup in the seemingly endless movement of disillusioned thought that has given root to the seed, and has given the light and space it needs to bloom. When Dr. Paul has gone, it is we that will take his place, and there will be no difference between he and us, for we will be the expression of the inherent seed, that which is existing right now in the wealthiest of men and the poorest of children. It is the seed of the individual, it is the seed of life, the seed of liberty...the seed of hapiness. At least that's how I see it.

there are so many pissed off people today, I was hoping to have a discussion about the Revolution and what it means for many of us. I for one dislike what is happening with Barr. I was hoping from some input to try and raise my own level of understanding in this area of the political world. Yeah I am an ex-apathetic newbie......

I do not support Dr. Paul simply because of what he has
said, but because of what he has done. Any skilled speaker can say the things that will please a given audience. It's the voting record that is the standard by which one can match the words of a politician with their actions. That standard should apply to every politician, regardless of party affiliation. The Libertarian Party has done what they've done. The mission of Dr. Paul's supporters is to mount an assault on the neocons who control the GOP.

the movement has probably
the movement has probably always existed to some degree or another... well, what am I saying? Of course it has... this is the same movement from the American Revolution, so it predates Ron Paul. HOWEVER! Ron Paul is the one who brought it to life in these modern times, and he's the one who introduced me to it. Since Ron Paul, the movement has had an explosion of enthusiasm, success, and activism.
This is my 2 cents.
Big L or little l the Libertarians are like any other party, all over the place with their platforms. Dr. Paul is an original, he's not like any of the parties.
After reading Dr. Paul's book it became obvious that he does not come by his platform on a whim. Dr. Paul's interpretation of the Constitution is a thing of beauty. People pound him and try to trip him up but he honestly and calmly explains over and over how he gets his positions. When I first discovered Dr. Paul I didn't agree with everything on his platform but as I listened and thought why he had these positions I have come to embrace them as well.
For me this is more than being with a certain party it is more than Ron Paul himself. It is HIS interpretation of the Constitution, I hope that he starts a foundation that would encourage all the parties to adopt his ideas. My fondest wish would be that others would come forward and embrace and run on his platform and have his consistent loyalty to that most precious document the Constitution. Peace, Prosperity, Freedom

His message has always been the same for 20 years as a Congressman. His voting record backs his message. He knew on Aug. 15, 1971 when Nixon took away what little gold backing there was on our money that in a few years the US empire would be bankrupt. As Bill Buckler says in his latest newsletter, The Privateer, "today most Americans have more personal, household and other liabilities than they have assets. Once this sinks in, the US will be at the trigger-line of a social revolution because the physical assets Americans do have control over will, to most, become a life and death matter. To be stripped of them - as so many Americans are now being stripped of their houses - will mean to be left destitute in the street with nowhere to go. It has happened before. It happened during the 1930's when agents of bankers showed up to sell a farm they had repossessed. On the day of the auction, other farmers walked and rode up. They all had guns in their hands. The auction began and there were no bids. Finally, a younger man stood forward and offered one Dollar for the property. Silence. The agents for the bank tried to leave, only to find that they could not. The other farmers were still there and some raised their guns. Another long silence. Then the top man from the bank accepted the one Dollar bid and that one Dollar was handed over to be followed by a bill of sale. The younger man then handed another Dollar to the first farmer was that the other farmer could pay it back when he was able. The farm changed hands again and, entirely legally, the farm was back in the legal ownership of the original owner with no debts owing. The agents of the bank left in their cars in a cloud of dust. For a long way, they could see men and boys with guns along the roads. At the farm, the other farmers left one by one and went home. There had been no violence, nobody had died. But there would have been dead men if this had not happened and all the men knew it, the farmers as well as the bank's agents. This happened many times in the 1930s but the history of it has died in silence. In future, when the truth dawns on millions of Americans that the Fed. Govt. is BROKE and unable to pay them what it has promised, the stage is set for streets and cities in chaos as Americans rise in rage and in fear." Ron Paul must win!
Paul brought the movement out of its slumber
I've been a libertarian since the 1970s; I walked precincts for Ed Clark (LP prez candidate) in 1980.
Every year, consistently, the libertarian / pro-freedom movement has been so small as to be nearly invisible. LP vote totals were not much more than rounding errors. Before Paul started running for the GOP nomination last year, did you ever hear anyone on television call for ENDING the IRS, ENDING the Federal Reserve, ENDING the American empire and all of those 700 military bases overseas?
Probably not; I never did. Paul made it happen.
Paul's candidacy gave hope to the hidden Remnant and they flocked to his campaign in huge numbers, which in turn began to entice others -- who might have been on the fence or unsure about the importance of liberty; who were basically asleep -- to see that this country didn't have to keep moving ever-deeper into tyranny and economic ruin.
Paul has been the lightning rod for the entire movement. One of our biggest tasks will be to keep the momentum going after this election cycle, and for decades beyond.
Thank you, Dr. Paul, from the bottom of my heart. The freedom movement was in a near-death coma before you had the courage to run for President in this election.

very early on I thought he was a messanger...that he didnt really want to be President, even he didnt have much faith that the message would be well received. I am glad we surprised him and honored his life-long work by responding. I think my favorite comment on the DP concerning Paul was the one that he would be on Rushmore in 5 years. To me he deserves a mountain face of his own. which one would you choose? anyone?

I suppose my family and I have always been 'constitutionalists'..going back to 1620 in this country.
In my adult life I've been quite disappointed in the 'leaders' of our nation and the direction we were headed. Definitely looking for a man of ideas, ideals, and integrity. I found that man in '88 but not many folks paid heed to his message at that time. We're into the 'stuff' really kneedeep now and I'm praying that millions will respond.
Liberty is addictive. The younger ones have not truly had a taste of liberty yet. When they taste it, touch it, feel it...yesssss...we'll have our millions.

My family has raved about the influence of international treaties on our constitutional liberties since I was old enough to have a political thought.
My wife's grandfather had "Out of the UN" and "No To Unconstitutional Agencies" posters in his house, shop and garage since 1950.
I was researching "conspiracies" online on Usenet in the early 1990s.
I was debating the evils of the Fed online over anonymous servers in 1999 and writing to Ivy League professors who had the audacity to be apologists for this system of fraud.
I discovered Ron Paul in July 2007. He's my candidate. The Revolution is my movement. The GOP has always been my family's party -- that's right, MY party. Not George's party, not John's party. My party.

For the people BY the people....has the GOP disappointed you and your family? Its sounds like you have a good grip on party loyalty. My father is Rep my mother is Dem, both to the extremes. I have never taken an interest until Paul and then discovered I was part of something bigger. There should be no shame in choosing the GOP as it originally stood for mostly Libertarian values. Does the party shame your family these days? How has the last 8 yrs changed or influenced your families determination to support and uphold party values? has it been helped or hendered?

The Ron Paul campaign has awakened me to a strategy that I will adhere to.
I was recently in a local function where Republicrats were slapping each other on the back and talking about getting each other re-elected.

lol, I found out about Ron Paul after I came home late one night from the bar and listened to Alex Jones on WinAmp. He said that Ron Paul was the only person in the US Government who consistently obeyed the Constitution. That was back in 2002.
I was like who is this RP guy? I started reading his website and books ever since. I've been a libertarian since 2002 from reading Ayn Rand.
