The outcomes for low risk mothers to have babies at home are comparable to hospitals, only you have way less chance of ending up with a c-section if you start out at home. The decrease in risk of not being exposed to a high intervention environment where some of the care is not in the mother or baby's best interest gets balanced out by those things that would have turned out better if the time to transport wasn't necessary.

The danger comes when governments cave to pressure from the medical industry (yeah, I'm talking to you Ohio) to persecute trained professionals in the out of hospital birth industry, which leaves mothers who do not want to risk the medicalized environment without trained assistance, which leads to more unassisted childbirth, which I'm not saying is high risk in every case, but is more risky than the comparable outcomes discussed earlier.

I have 4 children ranging in age 6-15 years and have never had a problem with either the public school system or finding a suitable pediatrician. None of my children have ever been vaccinated. As far as the school system, we simply claimed religious exemption.

My sister is going with a midwife in Columbus that does either birthing center or home births. She's loosely affiliated with the doctor that is doing all the prenatal exams. Hunt around on the alternative forums, while you may not want to go the home birth route, there ought to be a lot of discussion out there.

As a side note, I did have home births both in Germany and in Pennsylvania and was very happy with both experiences. Insurance even paid for the one in Germany! I also waited and looked at each immunization on a case-by-case basis. At minimum, the baby has your immunities in the very beginning so there is a good case for waiting a month or so and being informed. Don't panic!

vaccine on you right away, even in a birth center. There is no justification for a Heb B vaccine before puberty if the immediate family is not Heb B positive yet they act like it's a race to get the needle in the baby's leg.

You can refuse anything. You can even refuse that silver stuff they put in the eyes, but they might ask you to spray the baby's eyes with colostrum. It might be better to not mention everything you intend to refuse until after the baby's born because a hospital/birth center could say they won't take you, but then it's hard to enforce since you are EXHAUSTED.

I'd say go for a homebirth, but it might be harder to get trained assistance since Ohio came down on Jerren H. like that. Still, if you have a lot of anxieties about exposing your family to a highly medicalized environment, even an unassisted or husband-assisted homebirth might be safer because it would be less stressful.

You could probably do in-home day care with a SAHM. Also, you might run into a daycare that so assumes everyone's vaccinated that they don't ask for proof.

Could also mean population control, and I dont mean saving lives. Thats scarier than anything. The military already knows vaccines do not always work, just ask any gulf war1 vet that went to iraq.
