Washington State GOP Convention creates an outrage!!!
The convention is by no means over, but I am outraged at the way I and other alternates were treated!!! As an alternate, I was only allowed to sit in the back with everyone who was not a delegate. This I can understand. However, when we were to break up into our separate caucuses, I and others were refused admittance to even observe the process. I and other alternates staged a protest outside the room where our caucus was to be held and about 30 of us demanded to know why we would not be admitted.
There were 3 McCain people manning the door, and we tried to argue our point. But the ruling state chair denied us access. Reason being??? How were they supposed to ensure alternates and guests would not turn in a ballot!!!!!!
HELLO PEOPLE!!!! We have buttons that specifically state whether we are a delegate, alternate, or guest!!!!
We have just as much right as anyone else to be there. We paid our dues to be there and we should all get our money back because this is a crime!
I have had it!! Beware if you are an alternate, you have no rights unless you are granted delegacy! Even worse, one of the guys at the door was an alternate and he says he's learned to "live with it".
This party does not want change at all. We were also blatantly ignored by the chair and repeatedly told that we were "out of order".
The Republican Party is NOT a party of the open door! I am absolutely infuriated!

rather than a lawsuit, why don't rp supporters write a nice letter to the state republican committee and tell them that they will not get any votes for the republican candidates, other than rp candidates, for the upcoming election. most republican candidates in washington state are no different from the dems and maybe it would make them sit up and take notice that dirty tricks and dishonesty are no longer to be tolerated. each meet up group in each district can get the word out to rp supporters to boycott the election of republican candidates, other than rp people.

I got a better idea
why don't we just keep educating people on how their involvement will save this country from the ground up. PCO's, replace the coruption through peaceful revolution. We will not forget what has happened here.

Washington State GOP Convention creates an outrage!
I'm with you! I don't think the room was totally full in the 5th Congressional District. I believe if all delegates had moved up, they could have left a couple of back rows open for the alternates. It was an outrage that the alternates (who all paid the same federal reserve notes - and some who came longer distances) were not allowed to watch the proceedings at their own caucuses. They should have been there and I don't blame you for being upset. I was there as a delegate and I was upset, too. Just so you know, an attempt was made inside the caucus as well to get you all in. I heard that there was attempt to get a person of authority (let's say, the WA State GOP Chairman) to allow delegates in. His answer was NO. Maybe all of the alternates who feel likewise, should demand their money back! I felt so bad!

Thanks for the effort!
I could not believe my eyes!! Never in my life have I seen anything so ridiculous!

What CD are you in?
I don't know what Congressional District you're in, but in the 5th; which includes Spokane, there wasn't room for both delegates and alternates to sit. So the alternates that were there had to leave (sorry...)
I was a delegate, and the first ballot we got was for the 'McCain approved' delegate(s) for the national convention. There was 1 name on the ballot! We got a ballot with 1 name, and were asked to vote. (Someone remarked that it was a 'soviet style ballot'.) So needless to say, many of us handed it in the same way we got it, without voting.
Then, we did get a ballot to vote for the 'open' delegate seats, and we have 2 RP supporters that were elected, and the same thing happened for the alternates.
But the icing on the cake was was their 'snake in the grass' tactic of walking out at 4pm on Sat. after moving to adjourn early, and losing that motion, so we couldn't get a discussion on the 'no pass' resolutions. (All of the 'pass' resolutions were voted in, which annoyed them too...)
So after they walked out, we put forth a motion to suspend the rules and extend the convention past 5pm until we finished our business. It was then questionable whether we still had a quorum, and it took nearly an hour to get a count and discovered there was still a quorum -- so the McCain people slithered back into the room.
They then called for a 'report' of the quorum tallies, and the Chairman (who was very fair the whole time, and we voiced our appreciation for that...) denied that motion and then they called for some other vote in appeal of his denial. That took a good while too, and his ruling was 'sustained'. Then they appealed the motion to extend time, and that had to pass by a 2/3 majority, and since the snakes were back in their seats it failed, and the convention was adjourned at about 6:30pm.
We did get 1 of the 'no pass' resolutions voted in, and that had to do with only sending troops into battle on Congressional approval (i.e. per the Constitution). It was certainly a learning experience, but many of us are in this for the long-haul -- since Dr. Paul cured our apathy!

I was in the 5th as well...
But they gave the poorest, most lame, excuses I'd ever heard of. Even if we had to stand in the back of the room I would have been happy. Their 'BEST' excuse was that they wouldn't know if someone who was not a delegate was turning in a ballot! So they were apparently blind and illiterate!

I wonder if Trevor's group of lawyers would be interested in pressing a class-action lawsuit against the GOP?

For a time I thought someone might
get arrested with all the security that was there. But according to a local police officer, there had only been two minor incidents and he didn't seem to know why there had to be so much security there either.
But I know if any of us got arrested, our people would post the bail. :-)

I managed to get some video of the shenanigans...
but I haven't been able to view it yet to see what I got. We were obviously outnumbered on everything. I did manage to finally obtain delegacy and have a chance to be heard and we actually managed to get the majority on a few things. Another thing that really bothered me was the fact that there were so many people around watching our every move. I -- and I know there were others -- felt like we were a bunch of criminals. Always having to show id whenever we wanted to enter the convention hall, and passing through a bunch of security as if it were an airport. Delegates were not allowed to go into the alternate/guest seating to find alternates and vice versa. Whatever happened to America???

well for anyone wanting a
well for anyone wanting a quick update here is the tactic employed today.
There was a McCain "liberty slate" we threw them a bone and passed them with revised rules since we didn't have the numbers to change anything.
Here is where it got interesting.
We moved to the platform. Moving section by section. I guess normally you either approve a section or put is aside for later discussion. Supposedly the move to set it aside can be made from many people multiple times.
We were working under revised rules, only one motion to set aside could be made. So I overheard the McCain hat guys behind me cooking up their strategy. They would immediately call to put a section aside, then urge all of their people to vote against it. That ended any other conversation of why to put it aside.
So, here is what the McCain person would say "I move to put this aside to speed up the process."
After two of those I attempted to set the record straight and pointed out that McCain people with radios were frequently up on stage consulting with the seated board. In fact as I said those words I could point to him on stage at that point. Next they would make a motion to set aside "to move along quicker" was their required one sentence statement. then they would hold up their NO signs and all vote no. This would effectively end any future resons to be stated in public about reasons why to put aside. and it would sail through. I pointed out people, I pointed out tactics. I told them it wasn't fair. I think I lost my point a bit when he said which McCain people and I mentioned him, anyhow that didn't go as well as planned, but now everyone knows what is going on.
One of the next motions to set aside was done by a Ron Pauler:
he said "I move to set aside because there is a foul smell in the room and I don't want to just hear "to speed up this process", but I'd like to do it for the real reason and that is to stifle open communication and debate."
Everyone laughed.
Anyhow, there's the latest update. Fact is we're outnumbered, so whatever, but we did call to attention some foul play in a VERY public manner.

Do these continual irregularities add up to a foul ???
Strange huh...every other type of "race" has rules that allow ( or dis-allow ) results to be officialized. Guess this is a "anything goes" type race...ha...ha...ha..

I understand your frustration...
We have a longer road to deal with but these supposed "victories" for McCain only serve to showcase their own weakness.
Like an army that has a poor leader... It may look substantial but it's easily dispursed. What you are doing is planting the seeds that will flourish once McCain shows his true colors. He's nothing more than GW Bush 2.0

A bit of good news
Despite my not being allowed to enter our caucus, we received 2 out of 3 delegates to national, and 2 out of 3 alternates. There were a lot of shenanigans being pulled within, as you can imagine. But I will report more details tomorrow as we are not done yet and I need to be at the ready! I am not going to let you guys down! All of you here are an inspiration and I appreciate your words of encouragement! I can feel you all behind me and will do whatever it takes to get justice served! Freedom fighters UNITE!!!

IT may have to be Anger for the Republicans to Respect Us. ;(
Please forgive me if I offend ANYONE..I mean no harm...but after witnessing all of this and hearing stories...I have come to realize that these people when not educated about true conservatism relate to politicians differently.
There is a book about it I think it is called Moral Politics..it is about how the way we are raised is how we vote for someone we consider electable because of the way the say things or frame them
Anyway, Football, Business, Church, Marraige, and TROOPS..but the troops always equate to them in WAR. If we don't support WAR then we don't support our troops. If we don't support WAR we are unpatriotic. If we don't trust the Patriot Act then we are Not fighting terrorism.
I believe maybe anger and frustration will have to be some of the breaking point, they seem to like feuding and fighting to prove who is right.
I don't know sorry to stereo type but it just seems like they never question authority...like a team sport. Or a military person.
Good grief, folks. Fight
Good grief, folks. Fight dirty! Fight with whatever you can bring to make this right!
If you lose an eye in an unfair fight and live, it's better than going quietly so they can have you killed later.
