Is water becoming ‘the new oil’?

Public fountains are dry in Barcelona, Spain, a city so parched there’s a €9,000 ($13,000) fine if you’re caught watering your flowers. A tanker ship docked there this month carrying 5 million gallons of precious fresh water – and officials are scrambling to line up more such shipments to slake public thirst.

Barcelona is not alone. Cyprus will ferry water from Greece this summer. Australian cities are buying water from that nation’s farmers and building desalination plants. Thirsty China plans to divert Himalayan water. And 18 million southern Californians are bracing for their first water-rationing in years.

Water, Dow Chemical Chairman Andrew Liveris told the World Economic Forum in February, “is the oil of this century.” Developed nations have taken cheap, abundant fresh water largely for granted. Now global population growth, pollution, and climate change are shaping a new view of water as “blue gold.”

Water’s hot-commodity status has snared the attention of big equipment suppliers like General Electric as well as big private water companies that buy or manage municipal supplies – notably France-based Suez and Aqua America, the largest US-based private water company.

For all of you who have wells........

..........get ready to either:

a) be imprisoned for "hoarding"

b) have your land/water confiscated by the U.N. because they will categorize your land as a "Biosphere".

or

c) both

bought land with either the first or second largest water resource in the world. I think he bought it in Paraguay.

Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?

Did anyone listen to the above audio interview?

You will hear Mrs. Phelan describe how many major cities are installing dual water systems so they can actually target a particular home with whatever substance they want.

Why is truth scarier/stranger than fiction?

Most cities are near bankrupcy.

How are they going to afford dual water systems? Billions would be needed.

Very true, I don't like the idea of it at all. I wonder if the old Darwin thoery has anything to do with this, Basicly they believe over time their would be to classes of humans from select breeding. With all the young people having various hormone and fertility problems. It has me thinking maybe they want to give small fresh water and the rest a super drugged form.

Here`s an interesting fact------------

HYDROMANSan Antonio , Texas sets on an aquifer that contains more water than all the surface water in the state of Texas. About 15 years ago a fact finding commission paid for by we the people of Texas and produced by Texas A&M Univ and U.T. gave the results that if San Antonio keep using water at the current rate the aquifer would supply (at the minimum) 150 years of water IF IT DID NOT RAIN AGAIN FOR THAT 150 years. However a Federal judge in Midland decided that a blind salamander living in the Comal Spring ( formed with dynamite in 1953) has more rights to the water than We the People of Texas. There is no shortage of water, there is an excess of enviormental socialistsand they probably cover 2/3 of the Earth`s surface with their Bullshit.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people that pay no price for being wrong.

Of course. The media has

Of course.

The media has been trying to float the "water crisis" boat since before 9-11. It's aimed at the gullible.

The world is no more likely to run out of water than it is to run out of wind or sunshine. But gullible eco-dupes on the Left, who are Legion, can be convinced otherwise.
