More than equal
Ron Paul is absolutely on equal footing if not better with the Founding Fathers. It is always easier to revere historical and religious figures than it is a person who is standing right in front of us in today's world.
We cannot possibly all judge them because they are no longer alive.
Think about what he has done...and inspired..just him.
His integrity of spirit and compassion for our dilemma regarding brain washing, ignorance and war I believe triumphs him over history's icons. Our society and world are more complex now.
After all isn't the name of the city of The Republican National Convention named, St. Paul?

Overall, the Founding Fathers are some of the greatest philosophers ever, the proof is in the nation they designed.
You can't blame the ignorance of people on the Founding Fathers.

A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Thomas Jefferson. A vote for Rand Paul is a vote for James Madison.

Who cares? If any of the founding fathers were running for office today, you'd never hear what they had to say and they would be marginalized into oblivion.

Yeah...
That crazy "kook" Jefferson... he has no chance any way.
Well
I believe that mankind is actually going backwards rather than forwards.
So, if this is the case, its not possible!

I would say it's more,
I would say it's more, intelligence without enough action that got us here.
Many have become complacent.

No insult intended...
No insult intended, but far too many RP supporters think -- just because he seems to lean back toward the founding principles -- that he is the equal of the founders. He and Vieira for instance cite Jefferson to return to the gold standard, when Jefferson himself intended to remind us of its faults -- particularly in coexistence with usury.
If Ron were the caliber of the founders (and a wakeup *could* put him pretty close, at least in terms of understanding, if not in terms of engineering), then he would abandon the faults of the gold standard; and I say he would have embraced mathematically perfected economy.
Why for instance would Jefferson evade answering to MPE? I say on the first whisper he might hear of it, that he instead would demand to bring its arguments out into the open.
In any case, although it's not the intention of the page, this page puts RP and the founders into considerable perspective regarding monetary intellect:

Ron Paul falls short of the
Ron Paul falls short of the founders but he is pretty close, especially for a century where we've all grown up in the government nanny state. Our best hope is this movement, led by Dr. Paul. Our founders were also not perfect. Many had slaves and we have that dubious 3/5ths compromise in one of our hallow documents. We're all human and we all make mistakes.
Honestly?
I think even Ron Paul falls short against a majority of the Founding Fathers.
However, given the environment that we've created for ourselves its a miracle that he is the way he is. Remember the founding fathers where free minds at a young age because the lack of technology of the day... they actually had to read books.
I reserve the right to govern myself.
I think Ron Paul would have been on equal footing
with the Founding Fathers. Like RP, that select group of enlighten men were lifetime students of history, economics and philosophy.
However, other than RP the pickins are slim to none!
Mathematics and Economic Theory
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a founder who held sway with purported economists who rejected outright all application of mathematics to the development of economic theory, analyses, and solution.
Jefferson, Franklin and Lincoln worked hard at mathematic analysis.

Is this a trick question?
Did you forget a link?
Do you really want us to take a "wild" guess?
Not sure
But I have never seen anyone smarter in the government than Ron Paul.. so if there were smarter people back then... then they must of been a fearsome sight to behold.
Well put!
.
Enonesoch
Well, well put...
I third that motion, and the observation which follows as well. Today they would be a fearsome sight. I could just see John and Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry and George Washington paying an unannounced visit to Fox Disinformation.

The entire culture was far
The entire culture was far more intelligent back then.
As technology has advanced forward, the standard for what is deemed "educated" has marched backward. In the Eighteenth Century, educated people spoke not only proper English, but often Latin and French as well. In fact, their wives often did too. (Despite supposedly being 'unliberated' by comparison to modern women.)
As technology advances, the mean IQ and educational level of the average college graduate declines...dumbing down is a very real phenomenon.
Study the "letters to home" from young soldiers in the War Between the States--the average modern American's eyes would glaze over trying to red them...too many big words.
