Shake it off...
There has been a lot of discussion lately on trolls, COINTELPRO tactics, etc... lately. I think the voteronpaul website and this poster need to be carefully watched, ala the white-supremacy garbage thrown around neocon circles. But, as Ron tells us: Stay Positive and Have Fun! So, perhaps the recourse is to remain being funny and sarcastic.
Another way to look at it: Is it possible for this Gibson freak to "endorse" anyone? Don't you have to be an office-holder or a recognized organization to endorse something? This guy isn't even famous, aside from his son inheriting his neo-cultish-orthodox-fundamentalist-inquisition based religion (with lots of whipping to help get the point across). So, he can support and vote for anyone he wants. But, to have a press release that he "endorses Ron Paul!!" is utterly rediculous.
"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain
Can we let this one drop now?
Bad publicity = profit
On the donate page of the site above...
If it is run by Ron Paul supporters it's pretty misguided.
Can we let this one drop now?
I agree
Mel Gibsons dad is a known holocaust denier.
We might consider downplaying this kind of endorsement and not, you know, playing it up with a big forum headline or anything.
Just a though. m'kay

Why would you want an
Why would you want an endorsement from Mel or his father? They are both hated by the press, and it could be argued for good reason. Even if you do agree with Mel and his father, and hate the press it doesnt matter.
Look at what Sean Hannity is calling Ron on national television, he is saying he is crazy. Having someone like Mel Gibson's father endorse Ron for President is only making Ron look bad. In case you dont understand politics its all about image, and that is not the kind of person you want to associate with Ron Paul.
"Its time for a new Revolution! Ron Paul 2008"
"You don't gain much by being angry. I see this more as an intellectual, philosophical fight than a political, personality fight." - Ron Paul
Mel
Have you forgotten that the "press" hates Ron too? Ron did not endorse them, the father endorsed Ron.....there is a difference.
And does anyone really care what the hell Hannity or any of those jokers say at this point. If it's not about that, believe me, it will be about something else.
If Mel's father is a jeopardy champion, and apparently is, how is he crazy. I hope I get to be that crazy. He has a right to his opinions like everyone else.
It's is not up to the people to decide who wants to join the Revolution, it's a free market. It is regretful that some want to block others out because of their respective beliefs.....whether considered right or wrong by the majority.

nobody is saying he doesn't have a RIGHT to anything...
... you have a right to wear a swastika on a t-shirt. I'm just saying that if you hope to make friends.. ya might wanna leave that t-shirt at home.
It's not "lying", it's not "infringing on your rights", it's not "kicking you out of anywhere".
It's just about being conscious of how you're perceived. And YES YES YES, you have a RIGHT not to care how you're perceived... but then don't be surprised when the majority of the country exercise their RIGHT not to vote for you.

The right to be wrong...
Ron Paul will be a great President because defending liberty guarantees the right of people freedom of speech....even when that speech is revolting and wrong....
Would actually like Mel Gibson
Would be great if Mel Gibson would support him, Mel is a constitutionalist
One day maybe Mel will run regardless of his DWI, Bush had one and so did Clinton.
melvin may not be a very great endorser tho..
since his DWI was caught on tape, and during it he said (from what i've heard and seen in bleeping censored fashion) some pretty horrible things towards Jews...
dunno what has happened since, but it wasn't looking to good for mel
LMAO
hah that comment cracked me up.... ya DWI or not he will do it
oh great....
First he guy from stormfront, now hutton gibson...
Has anyone reached out to Charlie Manson to see who he supports? What about the "preppy killer"? OJ Simpson?
Naw, OJ is for Hillary
A saw an interview.
HAHAHA!
HAHAHA!
Not an endorsement Paul needs.
yeaah but this guy is infamous for being an anti-semite.
everyone who comes to this
everyone who comes to this campaign is not going to be perfect.. I don't care who they are.. a vote is a vote.. maybe we can get Mel to give Ron Paul an endorsement! that wouldn't bother me at all!

Ron says that freedom is a uniter. We need all the support we can get. Yes, Manson or Simpson hope to avoid. Of course, they want freedom that they don't deserve.
Bob W., Naples, FL
huh?
Simpson is innocent according to the law of the land.
Manson *should* be innocent... under an ideal libertarian system would people be held responsible for "brainwashing" other full grown adults and be held responsible for their actions!?!?!?!? I thought we're each responsible for our own actions.
Regardless... there's a point where some publicity becomes bad - I don't care what the cute little saying is. And having a known holocaust denier support your candidate is past that point.
Evan42
Yes, and we all know that the "law of the land" is always correct. Every law is just perfect. I know the Patriot act has no flaws at all.
Maybe we should just let Manson out of jail and buy him a neighboring house to yours.
And maybe we shouldn't let Muslims, people that curse, people that have a different viewpoint, than let's say yours, vote or promote Ron either. Let's just kick everyone out that doesn't agree with you.
Let's be as closed minded as possible.....but we'll be right!
Bob W., Naples, FL
"Kick someone out"?
kick them out of what? We're talking about whether or not we're glad these people endorese ron.. whether or not it's a net positive or a net negative.
If there is someone who curses a lot... he clearly shouldn't be penalized legally... however, lets say public perception of "bob the cusser" is soooo bad that people are actually less prone to do things that he advocates or less prone to like things that are associated with him.
You wouldn't think having him associated with Ron Paul would be a net negative? Something maybe we SHOULDN'T be promoting?!?!?!
"Vote for Ron Paul cause that guy who always curses at you does!"
Good luck with that.
EXACTLY!
we're trying to win an election, not trying to prove to ourselves who is the most pure libertarian.
There IS a difference.
And in the "trying to win an election" stage of the game... Hutton Gibson should be treated just the same as Charlie Manson and OJ Simpson: We DON'T need or want their support as it will cost us more in future support than their one vote and potential $2300 will give us in the short term.
Evan on Mel's dad
I was unaware that you were now running the campaign; my apologies. If you are not, and we'll wait for that confirmation, why are you wasting time talking about something we can't change?
There are two months til the primaries, so let's say and do things that actually help the campaign instead of finding reasons to waste time.
I will not waste my time responding to further posts on this.
Bob W., Naples, FL
Sarcasm aside..
Don't expect me to stand with you when you are standing with a holocaust denier. And believe me, most Americans feel that same way.
Lemme guess, you're now wondering how I was able to divine this knowledge: "how can you speak for all of America!?!? how do you know they won't all be jumping on the ron paul bandwagon now that Hutton is on board?"
Do you really need to hear it from a high level campaign staffer to realize that holocaust deniers are bad for winning elections?
"We DON'T need" While I
"We DON'T need"
While I rather not be associated with Hutton, please don't speak for me. We're a grassroots campaign with individual ideas on how to best help put our candidate in the White House, not the official campaign.
As far as Hutton, *personally* I wouldn't want to help publicize this endorsement, however, I would never want to try to hamper someone's effort in joining the cause. Freedom unites.
Thanks
Thank you for joining this discussion board to let us know that a holocaust denier supports RP. Kudos to voteronpaul.com for advertising it. But maybe these aren't the kind of things we want to build up. After all, the guy's a holocaust denier.
