Educational Video WRONG
So we subscribe to Discovery Streaming Education to supplement our homeschool lessons, and this year, we've been studying the (first) American Revolution and U.S. government in general.
Thankfully, I pre-screen each video before I use them in a lesson with my kids. One video purported to teach all about our government, how it's set up and how it works.
Within the first 30 seconds of the video, the question is posed: "So, what kind of government do we have here in the United States?" Then, with big, bold titles superimposed over an American flag, the speaker proudly continues, "Our government is a Democracy."
Video off. End of lesson.
Oh, wait, wait; I just remembered another doozy; I posted it here months ago. This one came from the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of History site!
It explained all the roles of the President; the "many hats" the President wears.

Yes. The Smithsonian said that. But the "many hats" presentation is no longer on their site. Now, they have this instead, under the heading of "commander-in-chief" --

During national crises and war, the power of the presidency has increased to include approval of military tactics, control of the economy, and authority to limit the civil rights of Americans at home.
So there you have it! The president has the power to control the economy! He has the authority to limit the civil rights of Americans at home! The Smithsonian says so, so it must be true!!!
They actually have a heading for "Manager of the Economy" as one of the president's roles. So...given the paragraph noted above, does this mean we are always at war or in a national crisis?

you could contact the makers of the video...and show them
the error of their ways...then show the right person this video...you might affect home schoolers all over the country....small battle, but it might be worth it.....

Although this came quite a bit later in 1892;

It does read "Republic" instead of "Democracy." So, maybe this Democracy take-over has only been in the last century.

I do this
everyone says a democracy because that is what we have always been told. Most people do not know what a Republic even is and how it differs from a democracy. Also, we are a democratic Republic to further complicate the issue.
I even asked the founder of a very prominent group-I won't mention the name-and she said, "We better be a democracy since that is what we went to war to make sure we spread."
Well actually she said, "We are fighting to spread democracy. We sure as hell better have one."

The reason I ask this so insistently, is that this is a huge way of awakening a person to a variety of issues... for once the mind realizes that they were wrong about this point(democracy vs republic) and you show them a video that illustrates the truth so well, then they think what else am I wrong about, or do I not know?--(they might not say it, but they think it) That s when you can say...BTW...

Strawman of anarchy
This is a great video except it repeats that common strawman of anarchy--it claims that there would be no laws.
However, in a free-market society there would be law. It would be competitively provided on the market.

The Republic is alive and
The Republic is alive and well, except most of the seats are vacant. What we have today is a private foreign corporation, which is now owned by the IMF, in control. We ingnorantly contract with and fall under it's jurisdiction daily, starting with the Social Security created trust when we use it's number.
It would certainly be great if we could regain control of this corporation with officers like Ron Paul, but the corporation has proven they don't intend to let that happen.

It was important for the newly formed corporation to not adopt this amendment as it would limit their abilities in redistributing the property of the south after the Civil War.
Then, in 1871 Congress passed the District of Columbia Organic Act http://memory.loc.gov/cgi.... The district already had it's organic (or organizational) Act back in 1801. If they were simply re-organizing, they would have simply amended the original act like they had done previously.
Between 1962 and 1969 all the states had re-organized as private sub-corporations of Corp. U.S. Here in New Jersey the Governor consolidates all the departments, due to the "changing times," to fall under his authority. http://lawlibrary.rutgers... This isn't in compliance with the procedures set forth in our original jurisdiction government state's Constitution. If they were changing the procedures of the original jurisdiction state, rather than forming a private corporation, they would have merely amended the state Constitution in the proper fashion set forth in said Constitution.

"Education" in this country!
It keeps us deliberately ingnorant. SIx months ago I would have flunked this test, going with the "democratic Republic" pablum, and I am neither stupid nor uneducated. I was given false information by people who were paid to be "teachers." And, I cannot even be angry at them, because they were lied to before me, and were trying to educate and be good people.
The most vile tool these bastages (what movie is that from?) have is taking what is GOOD in humans and twisting it to make us ignorant, superstitious, and intolerant. The notion that non-Christians need "saved" leads evangelical Christians to a place of conflict with me before we ever say "Hello." I do NOT want conflict with them, I want to be left to take responsibility for my own spirituality. It IS offensive to have people assume I am going to hell because I do not share thier religion. And yet these people are not TRYING to antagonize me, they are TRYING to look out for me - trouble is they are doing what some MAN in a CHURCH told them to do, and now they believe it is what GOD wants them to do.
I hope ALL religious people will soon realize the clergy is almost as corrupt as the government, and will take Libertarian concepts into their spiritual lives. Then, we can separate the church and state and clean out the rats from BOTH entities. Together, they keep people hopping between trying to be lawful and trying to be moral, and NEVER looking to do what is obviously the RIGHT thing to do.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

The people who thought they were truly intelligent would say, “Democratic Republic.” I felt like saying, “You haven’t the foggiest notion what either one is, do you? ” I guess all the propagada and public school mind programming took its toll. The people didn’t know what to think anymore.
Even for those with enquiring minds… Most dictionaries contain dummed-down, sometimes blatently incorrect, information on everything from grammer to the definitions.
Good rule of thumb— When in doubt, do your best to avoid the conventional.
