What does Ross Perot have to do with Ron Paul? More than you think!

To Whom It May Concern,

Ross Perot was arguable one of the most successful Third Party candidates in American history so what does that have to do with
Ron Paul?

Perot gained popularity and name recognition by using his personal fortune to produce television programs that reached a huge audience. He put himself in front of the camera, and presented his case to the people. It was very engaging. I was young then and I still remember it. He discussed the issues in great detail, and even used ever important visual aids. It was obviously effective. Considering the medium he chose, however, it cost a great sum of money. In today’s world though, the Internet has become a great equalizer. Now, anyone can put out vast amounts of information for public consumption, and better yet, the information spreads virally.

Here’s my idea. Ron Paul PCC should consider producing a video in which Dr. Paul simply sits in front of a camera and addresses the issues much like the YouTube series; white screen and Ron Paul. The video can be roughly 30 min. in length. This should be ample time to relay the overall message, yet remain concise. The presentation could be split into 5 minute segments based on individual issues strung together in a logical fashion. It could include charts, graphs, or whatever visually stimulating material that represents facts to back up Dr. Paul’s stance on Foreign Policy, Taxation, Monetary Policy, Inflation, Welfare-ism, and Illegal Immigration. All the while, the Congressman himself presents the information. No interview, no questions, just a talk with the people. I have seen the man’s performances on the House floor. I’m sure they can be repeated.

This will give Dr. Paul the opportunity to explain himself on his terms. It also gives him time to explain his position in more detail than is allowed by sound-bite debates.

If the campaign chooses to produce such a video there are multiple ways to facilitate distribution. One way is to offer “for sale” DVD’s in the online store. This will generate revenue, and can be counted as donations to the campaign. Therefore, it pays for its self. A second method would be release the data for download via the web. I personally believe both of these options are viable. Of course, it is crucial that reproduction rights be open.

How and why this works?

There are quite a few individuals in the GOP base that pre-judge the Congressman based on factual errors by the media, and the bias of other candidates’ supporters. This is a chance to set the record straight and engage the party. Many of the Congressman’s supporters have been looking for a way to fight this, and I believe this could be a very effective tool to provide them.

Supporters have been looking for well produced high quality material for a while. You can see evidence of it any forum. If Ron Paul PCC produced and offered these materials, every single one of us would jump on the opportunity. It would be passed on to friends, family, and shared with our neighbors. Thus, bypassing broadcast television. Thanks the Internet, we can now use the same strategy Ross Perot used to gain name recognition without the costs. Please consider this as an option.

i think the next

i think the next debate when he is asked a question he should make his answer short, and then tell everyone "look, your not going to learn very much about my views from this debate or mainstream media television or even the newspapers, if you want to know the real meat and potatoes of my campaign and my many supporters i suggest you go to the internet where the facts are unbiased and laid out in every detail. then check out the other candidates as well and you'll see why i'm number 1 above of the all the other candidates of both parties on the internet. forget the polls, and do your research, this is your country, and i think its worth your time to do your homework for it. please dont just vote for the one with the best hair or because of gender, know what your vote stands for.

That is a great idea

and I'm glad you brought it up for discussion.

CD's

I've distributed dozens of the DVD from RonPaulDVD.com I have found that many people say they don't have time to watch a DVD. So what I did was burn a CD containing the speech Dr. Paul gave at the Texas Straw Poll on August 31. It's available at RonPaulAudio.com... it's labeled PURE GOLD... and it couldn't be described any better. The advantage is that people can listen to it IN THEIR CAR or on their home stereo. It's necessary to rip the mp3 file to a wma file, but I've had great success this way... The enthusiasm of the crowd was GREAT and it's RON PAUL at his BEST !!

YES!!!! YES!!! Ron Paul Infomercial

Perot once polled at 40%. All we needed were two political pincer movements to snag 6% more Democrats and 6% more Republicans.
The main Perot infomercial theme was, "They're Cookin' the Books."
I've done extensive opposition research on this. Here are some facts:

In 1999, Ron Paul wrote, "The Big Lie - The Budget Surplus is a Fiction"
http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=86
In early debates, Hillary said, "Six years ago we had a balanced budet and a surplus." That's a lie we can PROVE AND DESTROY HER!
(Now she says, "We were moving towards a surplus." When sneaky lawyers do math and lie, it's easy to prove.)

The total national debt increased every year Bill Clinton was in office.
There was never a surplus. There was only a "projected" surplus.
When they put the cover on the national debt clock in NY, and Clinton said he'd have the national debt paid off by 2014, he lied. And we can prove it.

On pages 126-127 of the "2006 Financial Report of the United States Government," it states: "The total resources needed for all the programs sums to almost...$86 trillion in present value terms." That number was 30-40 trillion when Clinton was in office. There was never a budget surplus.

Rep Paul Ryan, ranking member of the house budget committee, was on
C-Span's Washington Journal Feb. 6, 2007. He stated, and I quote:
"The way we do the accounting in the federal government, if you were an American corporation, you'd be in jail if you were doing your accounting that way."

The leading expert on the true national debt or fiscal imbalance is Prof Kent Smetters. At an AEI forum on C-Span in 2005 he stated:
"We're in the hole $82 trillion dollars. Now, no one understands
$82 trillion dollars. It's about twice the size of all the entire capital
stock of the U.S. -- all homes, buildings, land, consumer durables."

When the 2007 Financial Report of the United States Government is published, somewhere near the end it will say that the money needed
in the bank today for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is about
$90 trillion dollars. Add the admitted $9 trillion dollar debt and you get
$99 trillion dollars, divided by 300 million sheeple equates to $330,000
dollars per sheeple. Smetters says we'd need to TRIPLE the FICA
taxes now and forever to raise that money.

If we want millions of 1rst time voters to sweep Ron Paul to victory.
We need the youth of today to understand that Hillary is a fraud. The
social security trust fund is a fraud. Ron Paul is Hope for America-
sound money- Freedom- Liberty - Prosperity and Peace!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, use the internet!

I and others have suggested this before. You're idea with using visual aids is a very refreshing add-on.

Ron Paul needs to produce videos for the internet. Not only ads for old media. Campaign HQ needs to start accepting the internet as a serious mass media in itself. Now they disrespect the internet which has nothing but left-overs from old media performances. They pay lots for 30 second ad space on TV, but do nothing to take advantage of no-cost internet communications.

Its Been Done...

In my own opinion, its been done.

Watch this 45 minute video entitled,

"Ron Paul; A Man For All Seasons"

If that does not get someones vote, nothing will.

The Campaign has already done this!!

And the video's are on the website and on youtube.com

Good idea though!!

Someone in a position to

Someone in a position to make a decision at the campaign should definitely put some serious thought into this.

I need that DVD!

I live near a small town (county seat, Pocahontas, IA) where lot's of folks aren't following Dr. Paul on the internet. I need that DVD to hand out. Hope it comes out soon.

Go Ron Paul!

Go Ron Paul!

Great Idea!

I would gladly send my friends and relatives a link or DVD with Dr. Paul explaining his positions.

What a great Idea

I love it, not only would people get to see and understand how the talk is translated into action. But all those people who are passing out RP dvd's left and right could easily pass these out as well. You Tube, Myspace, Facebook. All of these would have segments throughout the networks. The best part, cost to campaign next to nothing after production costs.

I sent a letter Oct 1st about the same thing!

Here is their reply:

Thank you for your suggestion. We are actively using You Tube to
spread the word and pursuing cost effective methods of advertising.

This is a great opportunity

Look it's not hard, just a camera and 1 hour of time. These would be great! I hope they take up this idea. Great Suggestion Tiffany!

Wonderful idea

We can all place the DVD iso files on BitTorrent to relieve some of the campaign's bandwidth costs. For that matter, why don't we place all the current campaign downloads on BitTorrent? Every bit helps.

DVDs cost a buck a piece,

DVDs cost a buck a piece, shipping costs 50 cents or less.

A similar idea

What if, like the youtube debate, have Ron sit in front of a live feed and have people call in and ask him questions. It could then be released on youtube for all to see....and for videos to be sold and passed out. He could have graphs or charts there for assistance in explanation.

Yes/No? Of course, up to campaign and Ron.

Bump

Excellent idea ... I have been thinking and hoping for the exact same thing. I hope the campaign picks up on the idea and actually produces a DVD that we could also order and then give out to prospective voters!

"I may not be the best messenger ... but the message is powerful"!

tipping point

Holy crap!!!
That is so ingenius. This will change the world forever as the message of liberty spreads across the US again!
Imagine if the campaign has enough money to mail that DVD to all registered voters in key states!

Talk to the people

Great thinking!

Yep, and it brings to mind something i've noticed....

It seems so many interviewers have started out interviews with RP in a nasty way, with loaded questions and innuendo, and then, gradually, they start mellowing out, nodding, agreeing, softening their approach. Let's face it, the guys a charmer!

The so-called "debate" format is not his best venue. He's not an attack dog by nature. So a face-to-face, civilized approach is so better suited. I look forward to seeing what the campaign comes up with. And in the meantime: there's always You-Tube.

Your comment remided me

.. of the Google interview of RP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCM_wQy4YVg

This was one of the better videos I've seen of Paul talking about the issues.

AWESOME IDEA!!!

I think one of the best video's I've seen is one featured on the main page by Iowa independent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDM8US25xXg

Just RP talking about the issues. It could be broken up into 5 minute clips of him talking about 10-20 issues. These would be a great compliment to the videos that already produced with all the music and extra imagery.

Official campaign DVD is being finalized...

The official campaign DVD (or what could be the "first one") is being finalized, I'm told. Look for it soon on the campaign website possibly around Thanksgiving or so is my guess.

Most not in the "biz" probably do not appreciate the time it really takes to develop an official, Intellectual Property Free, production. While the YouTube pieces are absolutely FANTASTIC, none of them could be used to actually market (legally) to the masses due to copyright infringement. Now what people "burn" at the homes on duplicating machines is one thing, but that will not work with actual, manufactured, mass-produced discs when you're talking 10K, 50K or 100K+ discs. You have to dot your i's and cross your t's lest ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, MPAA or RIAA come knocking on your door with fines through the roof or possible prison terms for unlawful use of copyrighted material. The campaign does NOT want or need that kind of press or headache.

I do like (and agree with) your approach as far as a direct in-the-camera address. However, I think it would also be cool to have some of Ron's more energetic speeches and rallies on the main DVD menu as well. I "think" the campaign is probably heading towards a menu in which viewers can pick and choose the topics they are interested in viewing first and progressing through the rest at their leisure. Just my guess.

DVD

And until then, this should tide you over:

Yes an excellent idea. There

Yes an excellent idea. There has been a sense of a void needing to be filled. This identifies that void and it does need to be filled.

Ron Paul can address the people of America at length about every issue on his terms and also address the misconceptions which the media strategists continually push on the sleeping public.
