The Primaries are Over! March on and Prepare to Herald the Revolution!!!

I've been thinking a lot now that the primaries are over. To be honest, it's a little depressing... I was really hoping we'd win at least one state, and now that chance is gone. All we have left are the state conventions, but with more and more efforts by the GOP to cheat and keep us out, I'm not holding my breath for victory.

I saw the post suggesting we vote for Obama and I have to say, I don't think it'll be necessary. While a liberal Obama presidency would likely wake Republicans up, it would only do so partially (likely only with spending). That's all well and good, but I think our goals are a little higher. We can't just depend on Republicans not liking Obama to fix our problems. But regardless, there is no need for us to go off supporting and voting for Obama to help him win. I think it's pretty obvious that Obama will be the next president. McCain will be outspent, even without the FEC restrictions. His stances on the issues are unpopular. He's tied so closely to Bush, it's political suicide. Unless Obama messes up big time, he will be the next president.

But let's not sacrifice and compromise our principles for short term success. Yes, we want Republicans to be more fiscally responsible, but we also want them to respect and uphold the ENTIRE platform. The only way we're going to achieve that is by working within the party.

I saw this article from AOL about a Ron Paul VP:

http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/06/04/mccain-s-la...

Sadly, despite my total disagreement with McCain, if Ron Paul was his VP, I would vote for him... However, I don't have to worry about that, because McCain will NEVER make the offer, and more importantly Ron Paul will NEVER accept it...

We Ron Paul supporters and conservatives will simply be there when the last of the Republican ship sinks, afloat in our lifeboat of principle, ready to start over and win another day.

Still, part of me likes to dream about Ron Paul being in the white house, even if it's under McCain. Let's think, say a miracle happens and John McCain weasels his way in and picks Ron Paul as his VP. Automatically there'd be a voice of reason and conscience in the white house. That's gotta be good for something! And, if this all worked out and John McCain lost, well, then we're set up pretty nicely for 2012 (Ron willing of course, which I sincerely hope he would be).

However... let's put these fantasies aside and focus on what needs to be done.

The primaries are over.... If we thought we were being ignored during them, just wait. We need to do something drastic and explosive (not violence). We need to draw together for one last grassroots event to show everyone we're still here, and um, ya, we were serious about a Revolution.

The D.C. March and RNC Convention will be great in helping this... but of course, there's the potential for less than satisfactory results. So what can we do? I think we need to all get involved in the party, at least at a local level, and continue to push the platform (maybe they'll pay more attention once the election is over and realize we're serious). Otherwise, we need to continue to educate the public. I loved the High Tide Commercial. Could we continue to make commercials similar to that that focus on the issues?

One thing is for sure. We HAVE to stand strong and keep working.... even if Ron Paul isn't on the ballot. We really need to take this thing outside of elections. I'm hearing too much bickering over voting for Barr or Baldwin, when really, they'd each be decent choices.

So, what will you do to keep the momentum going?

Lastly, I'd estimate that approximately 1.2 million people cast ballots for Ron Paul... then, adding in the number who participated in caucuses (we don't know that number, we only have delegate numbers), then you can probably raise it to around 2-2.5 million... Then add up all the votes that likely weren't counted (who knows how many), the number of people who just plain didn't vote for him (either because they decided not to, weren't interested, didn't think he could win, weren't able to, weren't registered, etc.), and the number of people around the world, and the number of independents/democrats/libertarians who couldn't vote/who weren't old enough to vote, AND the people who agree with Ron Paul and support him but just didn't vote, and I'd estimate we have around 5-10 million supporters or more.

my impressions after our state convention

On the subject of this thread, I've found that we have a lot of allies in the GOP activist camp. We also have some *serious* opposition (Jihad-fearers), and then there are lots of folks in between. I don't see any chance of winning over those who are supporting McCain to actually *vote* for Ron at the national convention; perhaps a few may be swayed, but I doubt even that. "Wasted vote" syndrome is powerful, and the perception is that McCain, regardless what you personally think about him, is the "winner" and thus must be the nominee. (Sorry if that sounds defeatist; don't stop educating the delegates. Just giving my honest appraisal.)

What I see possible for us to do is to stay positive and focus on educating our neighbors. I've had very good results simply talking with my fellow Marion County (Oregon) delegates over the weekend, not directly about Ron necessarily, but just engaging them about principles and letting them talk. Some of them know I'm a RP supporter, and they (at least most of them) are happy to talk with me anyway. By not having an "agenda" as I talk with them, the conversation is relaxed and I'm finding they are friendly and more like-minded than I had thought before. Yes, they're still supporting McCain and they still believe in the war, but they're realizing that our principles are important and that the party is in need of a boost, and that's a start.

It also helps to find other (local) Republican candidates who are at least strongly principled toward limited gov't. and support them. That lets the GOP faithful know you aren't a 1-trick pony. There aren't many Ron Pauls out there (yet), but there are people who are close enough to be worth voting for and even working for. That "buys" you some access to their ears, and then we can continue the r3VOLution by educating them, as well as grooming our best people to run in the next election.

Steady as she goes, cap'n. Rome wasn't built in a day.

"He's tied so closely to

"He's tied so closely to Bush, it's political suicide." (speaking about McCain)

Which brings me to a real puzzling question..

Why on earth would the GOP put someone up for nomination, that has the same stances as the current president who has some of the lowest public approval ratings in history? I think they actually intended for the democrats to win. But why?

Could it be that after they have raped and pillaged the entire US economy, they have some grand design of a master plan to make the economy appear to have been fixed by them just before the election? That they (and we), already know, as soon as they hand it over and let go of the reigns it will all crumble to pieces (as they have it currently prepared to do). Leaving them with the opportunity to create the illusion that the Dems destroyed it after the ever faithful Republican administration had it all fixed.
Are they preparing the great circus show now, for the running 4 years from this election?

When I hear the lying "spew" that froths from George Bush's mouth in his addresses each week, I wouldn't be surprised if they would really expect the public to believe all that.

well- untill the media says so

the public WILL beleive all that. Aliens could invade Earth and roam the streets in droves looking like E.T. and if the media says they are malfunctioning top secret military robots Americans will beleive it and pat themselves on the back for having a military so technologically advanced that we can create robots that bleed when shot-or theyll not beleive and politely whine on the interwebs about how we need to change sh*t. Just what DOES this administration have to do before they are physically removed from office by the people who they "serve". We employ them. We pay their salaries but we have no say in what they do.

INFOMERCIALS

WE NEED INFOMERCIALS. MONEYBOMB INFOMERCIALS. BUT, we need to have very articulate, good looking, intelligent people talking. Sorry to say it like that but we need to BEAT THEM AT THEIR OWN GAME.

the GOP are not out voting us!

its so clear to me that the E-voting machines are whats the REAL problem here.... i know we got more votes than counted, and... if they were counted correctly, i think we would have seen the true groundswell that is well deserved. But, pray... keep the course, God is on our side!

i agree... I just can't

i agree...

I just can't believe he didn't win any states... Montana, Minnesota, Nevada, N/S Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Maine, even Iowa a little.... Pennsylvania, Washington, Washington D.C., North Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, Texas, New Mexico, Alaska, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama.... I thought he'd win at least some of these....

Ignorance was bliss...

I just wanted to grow gracefully old, coddle future grandbabies, and greet the Lord. Now that I've been educated .... its damn scarey. Trying to seek to balance myself, spreading the liberty message to all who will listen to me, but with one-foot kept in my own little Cinderalla-life. Thank you all for carrying me along!

Vote for Obummer? Heck no.

That's not even a consideration.

At this time I'm pondering which direction to go. The visceral and angry at the GOP part of me says "C-ya to the GOP"- Libertarian party here I come... Then, it also makes a lot of sense to stay in the GOP and agitate for change and education among folks who at least think they believe in limited government.

I dunno. I'm so fed up with the GOP that it's taking a lot of restraint to stay the course and not make a knee jerk decision.

Anyone else struggle with this choice ?

no... I don't mind voting

no... I don't mind voting Libertarian this election and for Libertarian candidates... but I don't want to join them...

I figure it's probably easier to fix the GOP then to start from scratch with the Libertarians in a biased system.

victory will come...

"In the beginning the patriot is a scarce man. He's hated and feared. But in time when his cause succeeds, the timid join him, because then it costs nothing to be a patriot". Mark Twain.

Our CAUSE is succeeding. We may not win this election in the "conventional sense", as Dr. Paul perceptively points out, but our cause is growing and we are changing the GOP. This is critical.

Note that the established neo-con GOP has been at this for several elections. We are usurping their power. Are they to replace the old and tired neo-cons with fresh blood to fight us? Perhaps. But, we have the stronghold now and it is growing. Be patient and persistent! It will come.

Fight the good fight!

Correct!

Stay the course.

I think Ron Paul should LEAD an exodus of the GOP, with trumpets

blaring, and really make a stand. I don't see how he can stomach being in the GOP any longer. They have proven themselves to be everything we're against. To watch Ron Paul go back to Congress and continue to be the one "lone ranger" is not too gratifying to me, after watching the enthusiasm he garnered with his message of "revolution". At this point, it's all or nothing........The "revolution" will quietly fade under the shadows of Obama's "Change - Yes We Can!"

I'd like to see Ron Paul come out swinging. Now's the chance. Not with the stinking GOP. Forget that bunch. A lot of people are doing just that. We'd like to see real change, as in an accountable government. Ron Paul should grab Jesse Ventura for a VP, announce his new party: The Ron Paul Party and GO FOR IT!

Ron Paul with Jessie Ventura as VP?

I sincerely believe that this kind of ticket would rock the political world!

I agree, but...

...we should be double agents for the Libertarians; as a means to show our disapproval.

makes sense.... I'd

makes sense.... I'd sincerely like to punish the GOP for how they treated us.

I'll never believe the count

I was watching the straw polls on aol one night back in december and in the click of refresh an almost All Ron Paul Country suddenly switched an almost all Mccain country in a matter of seconds. Right then I knew the game was severely rigged. I'm not kidding either i saw that with my own eyes. I would refresh to watch the totals change and whamm !!

Me either, sentinel...

For the last year I have worked very hard out in the streets and have been following our progress nation-wide. No doubt in my mind the voting reports are fraudulent. I have seen it too. Our big enemy here has definitely been the MSM. Obviously, the party/ies is/are trying to influence all voters from the "Top Down". Actually, would it be more correct to say from the "CFR Down"? "Bilderberg's Down"? I think so. But it isn't over yet. Delegates to the National Convention can still be educated and influenced. They can still be shown that they do not have to be afraid to think for themselves and stand up for Freedom and Liberty. Just keep growing our numbers. By the time the Convention rolls around, there can be a real upset in the GOP, or a real Revolution. And possibly, a huge surprise for the MSM. Let me tell you, US spreading the revolution fever is our opposition's biggest fear. That fear is real.

Rhyme and Reason

There is a reason we did not win any states... we didn't wake up the populace.

>>All we have left are the state conventions, <<

NO NO and NO.... you still have out door festivals and fairs for the next 3 summer months where you can make new friends. I've been doing info tables at multiple events this spring and the response has been excellent.

The reason the GOP is walking all over us is because they have the voting public on their side. When... and I do say when we get the public to wake up we'll have the GOP by their balls.

When summer is over... then starts the fall festivals. Plenty of time to help McGrumpy fall from public grace.

Right now I see McCain on tv and he's really looking relaxed and he's smiling a lot... and when I recently heard him repeat over and over "our party is united... our party is united" I just had to chuckle a bit...
