Can we please have a refresher post on basic DP behavior guidelines?

Michael:

I don't know if you have noticed but because of the Bob Barr posts, some people here seem to feel entitled to abuse, swear, insult and generally treat with zero respect people posting (mostly) reasonable things about Barr. And some unreasonable. There is a strongly controlling and dominating impulse at work here and it's not welcome, not in the R3VOLUTION. Now they can't flag, they are doing the next best (worst) thing and as far as I am concerned, bullying and screeching at people hoping to make them shut up.

The problem is, it's catching and - as usually happens- many join in and before you know it, this tone is on all threads where differences of opinion are obvious.

If there are lies, insults and slander

being said about Ron Paul they will get no politeness or respect from me because it is not deserved. Understand that this is a Ron Paul site and his supporters are being provoked ; all ones needs to do is read through the comments. There are rules about obscenity and I see very little of that being used.

Aggressive propaganda

Aggressive propaganda deserves that sort of response, in my opinion. There isn't anything reasonable about most of the pro-Barr posts.

But don't worry, if called down, I can moderate my tone and still knock the Barr bots around like ping pong balls.

We're battle weary

We've had to fight the troll supporters of 10 different candidates. We've watched the MSM marginialise our candidate from day one and present us in the worse possible light all the while (RP supporters got more ink than RP) All the while taking the high road and trying to fight within the rules focussing our attention on the delegate /precinct leader process to have a voice at the convention- and the week Obama clinches his party nomination and we suddenly become a hot commodity as a voting block to cold call we lose the flag feature at DP- making us feel like we are all on a mailing list. The Revolution needs to have this site as an eye of the hurricane- somewhere we can be safe to regroup. The most reasonable reason Ive heard yet to vote for Barr has NOTHING to do with his ability to lead- just simply that we need to be on board for a protest vote. The timing of the Barr push (just prior to the convention) is suspect at best. Maybe The Daily Paul should have a good ol majority rules vote as to whether or not we should move toward becoming a meeting place for anyone's supporters to share a few words on who we should all vote for besides Ron Paul. Im seeing alot of good Ron Paul people split over the Barr issue. I say we vote on it decide and part ways if we do not want to be the Daily Barr. Im beginning to think Manystrom is leaning toward Barr and is allowing this to happen so we all get "educated" in that direction. If not- he needs to take his damned site back. If he wants to vote thats fine too- but the site is self-destructing and we need to do something fast.

Rules are limited here

Basically...there are a few rules for posting. Don't swear or be generally abusive...link to long articles rather than cut/paste huge texts...don't advertise stuff that's generally unrelated. Don't bump your own threads.

My take on Barr? He's better than most, but he's a johnny come lately libertarian who's only changed his views recently, and frankly I don't trust him. I think it is a legitamite topic to discuss here because this movement transcends Ron Paul.

If you don't like posts about Barr, it is quite self defeating to post a nasty comment on a Barr thread...when you post, it bumps that thread up and or course is going to elicit a response, which again, keeps the thread bumped. If you're not fond of Barr, totally ignore the Barr posts rather than get vicious. Simply roll your eyes and move on.

This isn't Nystrom's job to filter out the irrelevant posts, we should be smart enough to ignore them.

The reason for it is that
