Ron Paul must run 3rd party NOW!
Submitted by SirFelix on Fri, 06/06/2008 - 20:41I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but it is plain to me that the GOP will never give Ron Paul the nomination, even if McCain dies.
I seriously doubt that they would let Ron Paul even speak at the RNC because he would tell the truth to the American people and not just read the official Neocon party lines.
The only way to succeed this year is by 3rd party. But who, well Jesse Ventura of course. Someone who would energize millions of young people. Someone who is strong, forceful, and expouses the same principles and integrity of Ron Paul. Someone who successfully ran a 3rd party campaign for Governor. Someone who had the highest approval rating of any Governor in Minnesota.
What we should be doing now, is not fighting about voting for the lesser of multiple evils running for the same office that our man is running for.
What we should be doing now, is unifying our efforts to stage a 3rd party run.
I say we get Jesse to speak at the Freedom Rally in D.C. on July 12th. We already know Ron Paul will be there. Then we hype the event by every means necessary.
Then we go to St. Paul not to harass the Republicans, but to have our own, larger rally for the Paul/Ventura ticket. If we had twice as many attendees, there is no way we couldn't get media coverage, especially with Jesse Ventura on the ticket in his own stomping grounds.
Why sit back and let everything we have worked for fade away.
We have to strike NOW.
SGP helped us with the delegate process, which worked well in Alaska, but was scuttled in Nevada, and totally doomed in later conventions. But, we tried. That's all that anybody could ask, we tried our best.
But we should not stop trying. All of the last primaries had Ron Paul getting more votes each time, and I saw the one of them broke 20% for the good doctor.
The Revolution is growing, but if we really wan't to accelerate the process, then a 3rd party run is our best choice.
We can do it. But we have to want it. We have to want Ron Paul to win. We have to WILL it into being, with hard work, and a never say die attitude.

I advocate a 3rd party run with Jesse Ventura on the ticket. I believe that this is the most effective way to win and in doing so, throw out the crooks.
If the members of this forum, do not agree with me, then I will support whatever the concensus happens to be, because I know that the majority of the people on this site are idealogically identical to me.
But, I firmly believe, that the fight would be a hell of a lot easier if we gave Ron Paul some help by drafting Jesse Ventura to the Revolution.

Politics is the art of the possible. This is not possible and is a waste of your time and energy. Ron Paul has made it clear that he won't run 3rd party. At this point even if he wanted to it would be almost impossible for him to run a competitive campaign. How would he get on the ballots in enough states to be competitive?
BTW what is Ventura's position on abortion? The gold standard? The Income tax? How about the commerce clause of the constitution? Health Insurance?

I take issue with anybody saying that this is a waste of time and energy.
Many people said that Dr. Paul was wasting his time when he announced his Presidential bid.
Many people told me that I was wasting my time for supporting Ron Paul.
Many people are telling us right now, that McCain has clinched the nomination, and we are wasting our time in a futile effort.
Is Dr. Paul's message a waste of time?
What better way to spread the message, than by re-invigorating the campaign with Jesse Ventura's help.
I had previously posted in the past that, Ventura should get top billing, because of ballot access rules, but I now know that "sore loser" laws don't apply to Presidential candidates. So, A Paul / Ventura ticket is possible, and I believe it would win. There will never be a better time.
Yes, I saw all the interviews in which Ron was asked if he would run as a third party candidate. And each and every time, he said that he had no intentions of doing so. To me, that leaves "wiggle room". Just because you have no intentions of running at a particular moment in time, it does not mean that in the future you won't have intentions to run.
But will Dr. Paul do it?
Only if he sees support for the idea. We need to get the two camps talking.
And by the way, there are a lot of videos on YouTube in which Jesse explains his political positions just a clearly and truthfully as Dr. Paul does.

Dr. Paul seems content with walking away with a ton of money from book sales and leftover campaign cash. He also saved a few bucks by making us struggle to fund our own rally's claiming legal reasons. I suppose he is happy with little sound bites and nice speeches from the floor that just get ignored.
He said as long as he has support he will be ruinning.
Well... he has a ton of cash and we can get more if he starts the run now. If we started now we would be unstoppable. Especially, with JV on the ticket.
I would feel a bit more comfortable if RP donated much of the book proceeds to our rally and OUR FIGHT. We got him he publicity and he would not have sold that many books without us and our money!

It is his book. Are you jealous? He does not take the retirement fund offered by his position in congress. He is not allowed to "take" the campaign money and run. It is not his.

It has never been a real big secret that the man does not want to be President, but I still think he will if we can get him elected. Right now, it doesn't look like we can.
Is the pathway to some kind of a Ventura/Paul ticket definitely open? I think it was SirFenix who implied that it was all checked out and possible. But I don't know if he was making assumptions in his original post or if his statements were fact.
Until we get NOs from Paul and or Ventura, keep your insults to yourself. You are just frustrated and your "not nice" is showing. And when you act like this your "butt" looks three feet wide.

Here is my thinking: 9 out 10 supporters of either BB or CB are RP supporters. We are not drawing in much new blood into r3volution going with either one, it simply divides people into two camps. And RP has yet openly endorse one. With Ventura enters the stage, his name alone would have turn many heads, and open more doors for RP's message. I can see the value of RP keep going towards RNC, but I doubt the establishment would give him much room if the latest reaction from Mccan't camp is of any indication. GOP is like a bitch gone ashtray, no amount of pleding from a loving one like RP is going to move her ice cold dead heart. If RP/Ventura is going to happen, Ventura has to sorta walk alone with RP's banner until RNC is over. The ultmate question is, How to spead RP's message the best way possible?

There is no next time for Ron Paul so it must be done now. Adding Jesse Ventura would produce an Independent Paul/Ventura "tell the truth on them" ticket that would easily win in November. If you want to win the Revolution, this is the one best option to win in 2008. 2012 will not happen because the Neocon Republicans will still freeze us out regardless. History has given us the right two leaders at a perfect time to do it. Let's go for it, work hard, never give up and win it right now!

Jesse Ventura did, almost singlehandedly, beat both Hubert H. Humphrey III and the Neocon rival, slaying the Demopublican Dragon Dynasty in one fell swoop.
I really can't
understand this 3rd Party thing at all.
This is a long term process, and we have a good start going.
No matter how "urgent" you think things are, if the rest of the country isn't sharing your "urgency" , and knows who you are in order to vote for you, you're going nowhere. You're screaming in a corner by yourself.
And even then, if the entrenched system is counting votes, we have all the corruption that we've already seen, and more, to deal with.
If we don't get into that mix, and get control of who's involved with those voting machines, and work the precincts, and control the conventions and slates, and electing supporting actors into Congressional and Senate offices to help with the national level effort, then we're toast. I don't care if you try to run God himself as a candidate for top office. As a "stab in the dark" with no preparation in the trenches, it's a losing proposition.
Good gosh, the Libertarian Party themselves couldn't even keep control of their own convention. Now they have Barr/Root.
Get hold of yourselves.
Desperation is not a good thing.
Be a thinking person with real plans that will work.
Stabs in the dark are a fool's game.
