Paul Backers Spoiling for a Fight
By ANNA M. TINSLEY | Star-Telegram staff writer
Party leaders would like to keep the focus of this week's Republican state convention in Houston on energizing grassroots supporters, setting party goals and promoting the GOP's presidential nominee-to-be, Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
But supporters of one of the candidates beaten by McCain, Rep. Ron Paul of Surfside, want to make Texas the latest battleground in their never-say-die movement to change the party platform and send more of their delegates to the national convention.
They've attended conventions in other states -- some with success, other times being shut out of the process -- trying to put their representatives in leadership positions.
"If Ron Paulers show up in greater numbers than social conservatives, they could take over the whole convention -- not because they represent the majority of the state, but because they showed up in greater numbers," said Paul Stockard, a Fort Worth delegate and vice chairman of the Tarrant County Republican Party.

Terrific
"Paul, a former Libertarian who this year ran as a Republican, has fiercely loyal supporters who want to promote his conservative ideals, such as ending the Iraq war, reining in federal spending and abolishing the Federal Reserve."
I can't believe this, "a former Libertarian" after 10 (11 now!) terms as a Republican congressman.
What an absurd excuse for journalism.
Anyone feels like emailing this guy and showing him where he's made a few false statements, I'm sure the lacking remains of his journalistic ethics would appreciate it.

Don't mess with Texas.
God Speed Y'all.
"Victory for liberty! That is our goal, and nothing less. -- Ron Paul, December 17, 2007"
Ron Paul is my President.
True leadership will always attract people and make them
willing to give their time and money to a worthwhile cause. Our forefathers knew this day and these days would come 200 years before they did. They kniew someday true patriots would sacrifice for freedom, while the corrupt politicians would scramble to fill delegate positions. We cannot help it if we are being lead by a true leader, one of which we cannot help ourselves but to follow. Ron Paul has been preparing for these moments since the day he set foot in Washington D.C. We are the next step in his plan, and we are tearing it up. Remember this strategy was being implemented by Ron Paul for us, some of us before we were even born. Let's do him proud and make his efforts pay off. We are behind every state and everyone in the delegate process, be proud, and stand your ground. Good Luck!!
Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine
The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!
Notice how they made a distinction?
Notice how they made a distinction between "social conservatives" and RP supporters. (As if Ron Paul were not a pro-life Christian who shares many of their values.)
The Neocons will never miss an opportunity to create a wedge or marginalize us from the GOP rank and file.
Or miss a chance to change the focus from the very important issues on which we agree (like immigration and fiscal responsibility).

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive."
What gets me
What gets me is that they say we may take over. This article was done JUST to try to get others to the convention.
The article does not mention that th 2 lawsuits against the Texas GOP have both been won.
Both lawsuits were to force the leadership of the Texas GOP to follow Texas laws and Republican rules.
We only want the convention to be fair, we are not trying to take over. If our ideas get voted down, that is the will of the delegates, we just want a fair shake to debate them.
BTW, one of the reasons we DON'T need to take over is the fact that the Texas GOP Platform is pretty much Ron Paul's platform. It is MUCH further off McCain's platform than Paul's.

THE GOP RULES
lets follow them
OMG!
Now we're crucified for operating within the standard GOP rule structure that they themselves put into place!
And they behave as if there's something wrong with that!
I tell you that these people will do ANYTHING to stop us, and we must be ready for it. Stay one step ahead of them, and have counteracting contingency plans in place which anticipate their blockades, based on what we've seen them do previously at other conventions to stop us.
Find the weak spot in their armor, and drive a spike thru it.
Get around them, over them, under them, or whatever, but get through for the win!
TX, we are with you in spirit in ID!
Our State Conventions are the same day.
Whoever does does better has to buy a round of beers for the whole state, OK? lol!
GOOD LUCK!!!
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
Hope is on the way!
