Dan Rather BLASTS the Main Stream Media...

In his words...

"I am grateful to be here and I am, most of all, gratified by the energy I have seen tonight and at this conference. It will take this kind of energy — and more — to sustain what is good in our news media... to improve what is deficient... and to push back against the forces and the trends that imperil journalism and that — by immediate extension — imperil democracy itself."

"The Framers of our Constitution enshrined freedom of the press in the very first Amendment, up at the top of the Bill of Rights, not because they were great fans of journalists — like many politicians, then and now, they were not — but rather because they knew, as Thomas Jefferson put it, that, "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free... it expects what never was and never will be."

"And it is because of this Constitutionally-protected role that I still prefer to use the word "press" over the word "media." If nothing else, it serves as a subtle reminder that — along with newspapers — radio, television, and, now, the Internet, carry the same Constitutional rights, mandates, and responsibilities that the founders guaranteed for those who plied their trade solely in print."

"So when you hear me talk about the press, please know that I am talking about all the ways that news can be transmitted. And when you hear me criticize and critique the press, please know that I do not exempt myself from these criticisms."

Well, at least people are recognizing there is a problem. Now, what are we/they going to do to fix it?

Ron Paul 2012 - Not just for America, for the World!

Rather was CIA going back to 1963

Rather has been on the CIA payroll for a very long time. It was Rather who made the first offer to Mr. Zabruder to buy his tape of the Kennedy assassination...as he was on the scene reporting in Dallas that day. Somewhere along the way they may have parted company or he could just be spreading mis-information...who knows...chaos and confusion is the game these people play. In Ron I trust...everyone else I remain very suspect. Rather? I'd rather not.

Rather's a tool.

Anything he's saying is in his own best interest.

I would agree with you,

I would agree with you, there. I have always seen him as such. The article, however, is darned good. I wonder if he is finally seeing how he and other "journalists" are cutting off the branch they are sitting on. Free press, mandated by our Constitution.

What's the frequency

Lol

He was speaking live a few hours agon on the my short wave. Not sure who the host was that was interviewing him.

We all have our roles.

Nothing to see here...

...Dan Rather has been a CFR member for a long long time. He's one of the 'respected media' that David Rockefeller thanked for keeping their collective mouths shut.

That said...you believe whatever you want to. I believe that anything that comes out of Dan Rather's mouth is to be examined carefully for truthfulness and motive.

Well...

It seems he's saying the responsible thing here.

Besides, I know CBS is a member of the CFR, and he's suing them...

Correct me if I'm wrong

...Dan Rather has had a long, long time to speak out. If his principles were more important than the money, he'd have spoken out a long, long time ago. And he'd be a lot less wealthy as a result.

I doubt his 'whistleblowing' is anything less than financially motivated. Like I said...anything he says is to be carefully examined for truthfulness and motive.

Isn't he

suing CBS?
