ISP's confirm '2012: The Year The Internet Ends'

Published on Monday, June 09, 2008.

Update:Bell Canada and TELUS (formerly owned by Verizon) employees officially confirm that by 2012 ISP's all over the globe will reduce Internet access to a TV-like subscription model, only offering access to a small standard amount of commercial sites and require extra fees for every other site you visit. These 'other' sites would then lose all their exposure and eventually shut down, resulting in what could be seen as the end of the Internet.

Dylan Pattyn *, who is currently writing an article for Time Magazine on the issue, has official confirmation from sources within Bell Canada and is interviewing a marketing representative from TELUS who confirms the story and states that TELUS has already started blocking all websites that aren't in the subscription package for mobile Internet access. They could not confirm whether it would happen in 2012 because both stated it may actually happen sooner (as early as 2010). Interviews with these sources, more confirmation from other sources and more in-depth information on the issue is set to be published in Time Magazine soon.
What can we do?

The reason why we're releasing this information is because we believe we can stop it. More awareness means more mainstream media shedding light on it, more political interest and more pressure on the ISP's to keep the Internet an open free space. We started this social network as a platform for Internet activism where we can join forces, share ideas and organize any form of protest that may have an impact. If we want to make a difference in this, we have to join together and stand united as one powerful voice against it.

Join the movement.

Don't let the Internet evolve to this:

As if. Even if they would

As if. Even if they would like to kill the Internet I think there would be street riots. Revolutions. Wars. The Internet is ours. This is the best joke ever, actually, second best after the one with the very cheap Voip provider in my area.

Hoax

Fortune Favors the Bold

Someone name Athene who does this all the time.

Fortune Favors the Bold

for a host of reasons

Fortune Favors the Bold

This is highly unlikely. Every single ISP and phone company would have to be in collusion. It doesn't make sense, and frankly, I doubt if it's even feasible.

Fortune Favors the Bold

This is the WORST news in years!

I called a friend of mine who I do not often talk too. He is a small time ISP provider, and he confirms its all true. He says it all lines up with everyone's self interests financially, so you can kiss the "free internet" days goodbye. He is not even happy about, but says that unless it was a bipartisan issue, nothing will stop it.

Lets give them hell for this guys. Lets not take this lying down.

Hoax for sure

My entire business is Web Design, Web Hosting and running an ISP. This is complete bunk. The major vendors may attempt this but they only control certain areas. As long as independent rural ISP's hold their ground the others will have to fold to the pressure.

WTF? The internet has never been "free"...

in the sense of it having no cost!

Plus, why would you want a bipartisan Congress to stop it?
Don't you believe in free-market capitalism?

Counting chickens?

.
A great deal will occur before 2012, much of it bad. The internet will be the least of our worries.

However, I think once the bad stuff has passed - probably by late 2011, there will be widespread civility and stability again.

I'm not worried.

Who controls what? and what is it?

What a tangled web we weave :-) Review this if your interested and let the market decide....

You didn't get this from Alex did you ?

What you believe to be true, is true to you... "until you change your mind"

If they restrict us from

If they restrict us from finding out what's REALLY going on via the internet, we're screwed, because t.v. sucks and you can't find out whats really going on with t.v., nor radio for the most part, though there are exceptions.
The biggest threat to the NWO agenda is people becoming aware via the internet and working to stop it.

And the only group that can truly restrict the Internet...

is the State. That's why we must oppose any of this leftist Net-Neutrality bullshit.

The author refers to the

The author refers to the Internet being "an open free space." The ISPs might claim that they cannot provide service to all of the Internet "for free" but in actuality we PAY FOR IT.

We pay our ISPs to provide access.

Websites pay their hosting data centers for the bandwidth (data transmission).

Nobody is getting a free ride on the ISPs, although they might like us to believe that.

I can understand ISPs claiming that excessive downloads cause them to lose money, but that would not justify censoring the Internet. Although I could agree with them dropping "unlimited" from their service contracts and possibly charge extra to customers who download an excessive amount of data. That would be fair without any censorship being needed.

...

True--nice catch!

Jeez these leftists need to use more logic...

What's the big deal here??

If they start offering really shitty service I'm just going to move to another ISP.
Or start my own if necessary.

And beware of Net Neutrality. That's a nice word for a plan that will allow the State to start regulating the internet.

yeah seems if the isp´s

yeah seems if the isp´s start offering bad deals..then who would pay for it ?

This fear-mongering is being promoted by the same people

who advocate Net-Neutrality.

Enterprises choosing for themselves how they want to run their operations isn't the problem--government regulation of the internet through "Net-Neutrality" is.

Freedom can not be stopped.

The bails are loaded.

They keep testing by adding one straw at a time.

If it does happen, it will simply be added to the list of events that led to freedom.

We all have our roles.

Actually, cable and satilite t.v. is trending in the other direction.
Makes no difference, we will find a way.
Good post though, my gander has been up for years, but I always like company. At a comfortable distance that is.

No way this will happen!

No way - Now if they want to take everyone's cell phone go right ahead

"If you don't stand behind our troops, PLEASE feel free to stand in front of them!"

This is NOT going to happen.

This is NOT going to happen. We will stop it.
