Ron Paul Spam Debunked!!!

There has been a recent flurry of news articles that have made the conjecture that the Ron Paul campaign or his supporters are in possession of a botnet and are using it to generate spam emails for the candidate. I have been in the business of computer technology for a long time and have good friends in the IT security business and we have discussed this at length. Cui-bono (who benefits)
I find it far more likely that this botnet spam attack is not the design of the Paul campaign or any of its supporters. It is far more likely that this is the release of a first round of direct cyber attack against the Ron Paul campaign. I base this opinion on the fact that the attack is becoming clearly targeted at the youtube videos of Ron Paul. Youtube links to his videos are beginning to be inserted into the the body of these spam message and as a direct result the video's are being pulled by youtube for violation of their terms of use policy.

This attack method can do far more harm than good for the Ron Paul campaign so I will make a guess that this is the work of those in the NSA using cyber war tactics out of loyalty or possibly under orders to use this stealth attack method to derail the Ron Paul campaign by using the campaign's online strength against them.
I expect that after these attackers have used this method to remove the best google and youtube videos touting the Ron Paul campaign, that the attack method will change and will then go after other key components of the campaign's online strength such as the Web 2.0 communities. These utilities will likely be spammed and the organizations using the applications will be banned from their use.
This is nefarious and demonstrates the kind of tactics that the establishment could use to serve their interest in stopping the advance of Ron Paul and the Revolution for freedom that he is leading as well as his Presidential bid. I can only hope that the Ron Paul online army has some equally talented cyber warriors that can help stop this attack before it is ramped up even further.

I wonder if all we need to do is ignore them, since it is highly likely that they were contrived, like we know this line of ronbots has been the war-cry of MSM the likes of (In-)(S)Hannity, et al.
If you tube were to take down a few youtube videos, we can put up 10 more new ones can't we?
People who are savy with youtube shd be able to find RP stuff, so should we worry?

I agree with another post even if we have to make DVDs and hand them out. I would purchase some.We can not go down with out a fight. Find the sob who started the bot so we can clear our campaign of this frame up.

Lets not lose focus
Lets not lose focus of the goal of spreading the word about Ron Paul. As long as journalists are writing they are helping to spread the word. And we need to remember that negative publicity is not necessarily bad publicity. I think Paris Hilton is a prime example of this fact.
So regardless of whether the author inserts their own biases or not, as long as the message of Dr Paul is being spread; that is all we should be concerned with.
After all, I just look at myself and what originally got me interested in the Paul candidacy. It wasn't a positive interview that first sparked my attention, in fact, it was quite the negative interview if I do say so myself. The interview that first got my attention of Dr. Paul was the George Stephanopoulos interview.
So let them write. Good or bad. As long as they are writing that's all that should matter at this point.
I guarantee the banning from RedState helped more than it hurt.

is the time to start using bots. Hah! You mean after all the positive results of a grassroots campaign and NOW is the time to start email bombing people? Give me a damned break! So the campaign didn't need email spam until the movement was so big it gains mass on its own. How dumb are people to even consider believing this? Like the RP campaign people wouldn't know that they would tarnish their image by doing that. It's vile and sickening how people are trying to smear RP and his supporters. I'm happier every day that I don't associate myself with either of those so called "major parties" because the only partying they do is for indebtedness and big oil all on the graves of fallen soldiers.

The Fox News debate only had a TEXT in your vote. That I did. It would not allow me to text in another vote from my same cell phone, so I used my wife's for our second vote.

To convert the flash video file to several different formats including (but not limited to) DVD, .AVI, quicktime files.
I've been using them both for a while now and have a large selection of videos to show my friends that have computers or dvd players but no Internet connection.
Both of these programs are very easy to use/understand.

I agree with your analysis. Assuming the spam exists, it's being done by our enemies to negate the tool of YouTube because that's been so-effective for us.

I received it. It looked exactly like a blog post or yahoogroup mail I had recently read.
This is dangerous and I have no idea how to stop it. Unless we unethically level the playing field, which could hurt us better than help us.
Could you post the e-mail headers?
Could you (and anybody else who has received this spam) post the e-mail you've received in a raw format (i.e. the message source - with headers, etc. - especially the "Received:" fields) so we could try to identify the source?
Just to be on the safe side - remember to remove your e-mail address (it may appear in the source more than once) and anything else related to your personal details.

If that is the case then we need to burn a copy of every good video before it is lost. Mass produce them ourselves and build a video archive which cannot be cast into the ethers.
I particularly like the image of the young girl holding up a Ron Paul sign as she looks directly into the camera with a wonderful simple smile of hope and calm confidence. She's the girl with the fantastic thick red hair.
It would be a shame to lose so many great images and videos due to this vandalism of our current history in the making.

we could just offer up the vids on our own website. It's not the You-Tube experience, but the campaign is at a stage where NOBODY just stumbles over them not knowing who Ron is. Not on the internet. The only people who need to see them (as opposed to us who just enjoy them) are the newbies who have just googled after reading a slim jim or something. Also Paulistas who would like to rip the videos. Don't need you-tube for that
