Rally in Philadelphia
Submitted by Mommy2Princesses on Thu, 11/01/2007 - 10:41Looks like they are MOVING the rally -last minute! No one is sure exactly why. Apparently the campaign says its "highly complex." BUT they will lose TONS of supporters if they do this. People have already made hotel reservations and travel plans etc. Please, if you can, call the campaign and beg them to reconsider.

Are we convinced now?
Sorry for the "call to arms" that apparently was the cause of all the Troll alarms to go off. The Rally HAS been moved -to King of Prussia, PA.

I agree - DailyPaul.com is starting to get rude
some members ask if people can quit swearing and they jump all over the person. They don't get that most adults don't go around swearing - public or private. they don't get that it is offensive to most people and turns them off. The conservative christian is still the base of conservatism and if anyone says anything from a christian perspective they get jumped on even though it is well known (among conservative christians) that a conservative cannot win without that group.
The internet is very big - i am sure there are other places to find needed info. thanks.
Change or start losing people
I'm tired of the name calling and rude behavior of some of the people here. If Dailypaul doesn't step up and start doing something about it, they will lose people here. It's just a fact.
Mommy2Princesses didn't deserve the treatment she received by some posters here. She's just one example. I'm seeing too much of it around here.
"The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that." — Alan Greenspan
lol...
she was with us all of one day and on her second post she begs us to call the main campaign. That's not even something 99.9 of the commercial critics called for... A few consolidated and sent e-mails, which wasn't great, but no where near as bad as the above...
So, while I will acknowledge that the treatment was harsh and wrong, you must acknowledge why that kneejerk reaction happened, and why we all, including you (not suggesting that you have said anything wrong, just emphasizing everyone one of us needs to be concsious of it from now on), need to work on our own behavior.

I check people
I remember logging on and seeing 10 users and 20 guests.I used to be contrary to a lot of the more optimistic posters(sorry).I cus like a soldier, but i don`t need to type like i talk.
I used to read every post and every comment. That is a waste of time now.

yes...
the tone is changing, and it is our fault as much as the "insurgents" (lol)... We are letting them get to us, me included and at times pretty badly...
The "solution" must be implemented soon.... I will say this, if you ask a supporter to edit cussing out of their post... I am sure that they will.... I cuss like a sailor but never here.

Where is this coming from?
The rally in Phila. is because the Phila. meetup group won the fundraising contest that was held awhile back. I received an email when we won the contest so I would think I'd get one if things have changed. Stay cool.
I never
said anything was cancelled- just probably getting moved. And if anyone ever wondered what a troll looks like...apparently this is it...
Myself and my troll family with Dr. Paul today!

Let this thread die down
This is more hearsay than fact. The information is in the process of being clarified. Trust Paul and the campaign are aware of the gravity of such decisions. In addition, if we know for sure something has happened, trust the campaign or we philly people will make sure things are clarified and accommodations are made accordingly. But for now let this thread die down.
Change of venue for Philly
I think they had to change the location because the city/government/NWO bootlickers are messing with us.
The irony
i've been reading the ron paul forums. There is some irony in that Paul preaches local issues are not better served by a central decision maker far away and now the central HQ is screwing up months of planning by grassroot supporters in Philly.
Well said
This is so very true. Well done.
Better check
Ummmm Since the person who ran this post has only been on the Daily Paul for 2 days - I would guess that it is a fake
From Grand Rapids, MI - we had made our plans
We are all going. We like the idea of meeting at the Independence Mall then walk to the university. That is fun. We can march waving our Ron Paul signs. Cheers!
RPmypresident
Quit the trolling!!!
The Rally will be held and in Philadelphia!!! So relax people.
Nothing is being cancelled!!!!
Hey Campaign....
Hey Campaign.... you better not cancel this Nov 10th Philly event. I bought my tickets, hotel...and I am ready to roll

Breach of Trust
Like announcing a tea party in Boston Harbor and switching it to Harvard Square. The location is of historic significance. It makes the event. You can go to a campus anytime you like. Are they nuts!?
Plano TX
I think I have an idea.
The campaign is considering moving the event to the University of Pennsylvania. Many people know to show up at the Independence Mall location. Here's a plan.
The campus is roughly 3 miles away and it is a straight walk through the town square and down Market St. That's it. Schedule the rally for 1:00 pm at the University, but have everyone meet at the Independence Mall for a quick walk through the city!

I agree changing plans at this point absolutely sucks and is a terrible idea but this may be a way to make the best of it.

It's still planned for the
It's still planned for the area.
University of Pennsylvania was mentioned, as was
Valley Forge.
My plans are to be a part of this event no matter where
in the area it's held.
IF IT REALLY DOES CHANGE, I'm confident that our
local groups will be able to accommodate all of our
out of town visitors in whatever fashion is necessary.
Sounds like The Campaign is trying to knock this out
by days end...(sure hoping!)
GO RON GO!!!
whocares where
I am still going...
I'm still going too
I'll be there, where ever there is. As part of the Lehigh Valley Meetup we helped the Philly Meetup raise the money to get Ron there. Turns out this was a bad thing, but I'll still be there.
I'm still convinced that this is a huge mistake on HQ's part to miss out on the TV coverage this would have received with 10,000 people on the Mall. Everything was set to go, HQ should just stick to the plan and get their head out of the mud. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come from the people working at HQ. Very poor judgment in my opinion.
Do they read this stuff at HQ?
If so, would HQ be as kind to respond here, as in here on Daily Paul?
Do I book my flight and accommodation or not? Change of plans? Not coming, please let me know.
They really have a contract with us. What about all the other people who have already made travel arrangements.
If you're planning tea party at Boston harbor, you better not move it to Harvard Square. Not so? Do you think we can get them to understand this logic?
Plano TX
Still going
I'm still going, and I'd like to see a dozen more comments like this one.
Sounds Like a Decision Made by a Committee
It should have nothing to do with money, but everything to do with exposure, uniqueness, etc.
Plano TX
It's the HQ's fault
I first would like to apolgise to mommy2princess because this looks like it's real.
Second, this is the fault of the Ron Paul Campaign Headquarters! The grass roots organization in Philly had this thing all set up, has the permits, and everything was ready to go. Then the Philly Meetup won the national contest by raising the most cash to get Ron to an event. So, the events are being combined, and then it was taken over campaign HQ. They are the people who are calling the shots now on this rally. They are the people moving this thing. It's an HUGE MISTAKE! Over 10,000 fliers have been handed out. The Philly Meetup went to the OSU v PSU game in State College last weekend and passed out over 5,000 slim jims regarding the event, including the date, time, and LOCATION. Most of these people are not hooked into the campaign enough to check for the change, and they may show up for nothing. The news coverage in the Philly area that would be generated by this huge rally could be really important, and could get national play.
The official campaign really is dropping the ball on this one.
Stuff happens, and it is
Stuff happens, and it is what it is...we WILL find a way to
make this all work out!

The message posted by the Pennsylvania coordinator:
===============================================
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The campaign has made the decision to relocate the rally out of
central Philadelphia due to cost concerns. It has been deemed an
unfortunate necessity that those funds are better allocated to key
primary state, and the rally in Philadelphia is being scaled back to a
regional event.
The rally will still happen, but it will probably be moved either
to UPenn or out to Valley Forge. That should become more clear
tomorrow.
In accordance with the smaller scale, the benefit is that it will
provide a more intimate setting for regional supporters to meet Dr.
Paul, and we will ensure the Meetups involved in this effort get their
private meeting, as guaranteed.
I know there was a great deal of expectation and hope for this
rally. I also know that materials had been produced and distributed
at considerable expense to promote this event. On behalf of the
campaign, I apologize that it did not prove workable to have the event
as originally planned.
Yours,
Tom

Hey!!!
Hey Campaign.... you better not cancel this Nov 10th Philly event. Ron Paul needs to be around the 10,000 people there... Cameras are ready to roll.
I bought my tickets---nonrefundable..., plus hotel & car...and I am ready to film it

PS.... What "Cost Concerns?" Explain. Just show up with Ron Paul. Theres the party right there. What "meet up guarantee"? So we are blaming this on costs and a meet up guarantee? Do meet up members KNOW what they are doing?

thats the ONLY evidence I've seen
so far thats all i've seen saying its been moved. I say we all calm down and wait for something "official" not an email that somebody got that was posted here copied there.
changing location would be a horrible thing to do, but lets not jump the gun here , perhaps they're not changing the location.
