Ron Paul got death threats?

THAT'S MY SPECULATION.
The only reason I can imagine that made him announce the end of his campaign tonight.
He's otherwise got NOTHING, literally NOTHING to lose.
Not money, not an election, not face, not time.
The only reason he's officially making a big deal to end his bid is if he's gotten some nasty threats.
TAKE THE HINT. THIS IS IT AMERICANS, we may have just officially lost our legal and peaceful means of demanding change in our Republic. We may need to take action, and it may mean breaking the law and using violence.
I do not advocate violence, but I am giving my opinion that it may be necessary, don't be stupid.

Ron Paul did it for the right reasons
I've heard second hand that he has received death threats, but my understanding is that he recieved those at the very start of the campaign.
So, he continued to campaign much longer than anyone expected despite the death threats.
I suspect that he ended the campaign for a more practical consideration -- he needs to re-direct our momentum in a way that gives us maximum bang for our buck WHILE we still have momentum.
Ron Paul served in the military and I'm sure he'd gladly give his life to restore liberty. There are probably a lot of factors that went into his decision to end the campaign.
At least you made it clear that it was simply
speculation.
If it were me, I would realize my mistake and delete the post.

He did not end the campaign
He is moving it to the Liberty Campaign. I think there are probably legal reasons. IANAL, but I think he has to do that in order to support other candidates for congress with the dollars.
Trust the man. He is a genius. Where would the Revolution be without him?

In his Campaign for Liberty video
RP came right out and said that the deck is stacked against us. He knows it and so do the thousands of his supporters that participated in the delegate process at the State level. We have to change tactics. RP says that guerilla tactics are what we need. I'm not naive, but the time for violence is not now and I personally hope it never arrives. However, I am prepared and committed just in case it does.

The only wrong choice he
The only wrong choice he made today was in failing to signal his intent clearly enough to his audience. He was on a heck of a roll in his speech; maybe he didn't want to disrupt the energy and momentum.
I think it was a good idea for him to end his GOP campaign.
I think it was a good idea for him to start Campaign for Liberty.
On the other hand, we still need someone to run for President. Who will it be?

He is not scared of death threats. He is too dedicated to liberty and to truth to let something like that get in his way.
Perhaps he figured this would "up the ante", so to speak.

I read somewhere earlier today that if he drops, it will free up his stash of cash. He intends to use that money to further the cause.

I just dont see the connection. This seems like a natural fluid timing thing. He's using the momentum for a phase 2. Some of it may have to do with his own fiscal responsibility in getting the most bang for the remaining 4 million bucks.
