Cheap, Easy and Effective way to blitz New Hampshire with Ron Paul

There are only 475,000 households in New Hampshire.

I would guess a DVD costs with stamp $1.50 or less to mass produce (with donated labor).

We all know that Ron is at his best when he gives a speech where he can expand on his ideas. Right?

But how often does the general public ever see him in that light?

Never. (unless you are already a Ron Paul fan and already have gone to or watched a Ron Paul rally)

My proposal:

I think a 10 minute video taking the best cuts and clips from his speeches which cover his top issues should be put on DVD. And what has to be included on there are things that resonate with the republican and independent base (2nd ammendment, low taxes, low spending, funding social security and medicade by withdrawing military expansionism overseas, immigration..falling value of the dollar; trust me, any border state with canada (like NH) is sickened that their Canadian loon is worth MORE than our dollar..that shows how weak we've become). To WIN as a republican, he needs to harp more on Republican ideals while being independent by describing how much the war is costing us and how it will bankrupt us.

475,000 households x $1.50 = $712,000

I personally think it's a worthwhile investment for the campaign or a Ron Paul PAC to take this up.

I think New Hampshire polls could see real Ron Paul numbers after such an effort. Most people, if they've heard of Ron at all, have only seen a snippet of Ron Paul in debate form. Ron doesn't shine in all debates because he only has a limited time to get his message through. Once they are drawn in to ten minutes of him talking during an impassioned speech on DVD, they'll be hooked.

I'm all up for criticism or comments that would make this more effective or reasons why it can't work.

Thanks

-David G.

Households in NH

Even if 475,000 is correct (475,000 households x 3 people each) = 1,425,000 people, David G. overestimates the number of DVDs and the cost. NH voters already registered as Democrats can no longer change their registrations in order to vote in the primary, so subtract the Democratic households (I don't know the number.) from the 475,000.
Then the question is, is it better, that is, more effective in terms of influencing the vote total for Ron Paul, to send the DVDs to Republicans and Independents, or just to Independents?
IF 40% of voters are Independents, 40% of households (NOT an exact match, granted), equals 190,000 households. At $1.50 each, the cost drops to $285,000, which is a much more do-able number.

Where did you get 475,000

Where did you get 475,000 from? Is that registered Republican households??? I love the plan but that number doesnt seem right at all. So I'm just wondering

475,000 total households came from the US Census

Here is the link:

http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/33000.html

Households as of the year 2000 are 474,606

And that's all households

That's all households. Not just registered republicans.

That's why New Hampshire is a great state to win for Ron Paul. Relatively low population and few households.

Now there is another figure in there for total housing units in new hampshire as of 2005 which is 583,000. I'm assuming that includes multi-units, apts, condos, vacation homes, cabins, nursing home units, college dorm units, etc...

My point is this. It doesn't take much to blanket the state with information about Ron Paul. Because Ron is a different kind of candidate I think he has liberty in launching not only traditional forms of campaigning but adding to it non-traditional forms. Most people have a computer which can run a DVD or a DVD player in their house.

And the great thing is, if it works, the model can be brought to Wyoming (only 193,000 households) Iowa (1.15 million households) and South Carolina (1.5 million households).

I think people are less likely to throw away or ignore a DVD vs. a brochure or pamphlet.

I constantly make DVDs and hand them out to people

I find that the most effective videos I can put on the DVDs are:
1. the speech he gave at the Iowa straw vote rally in august
2. the video "A New Hope"
3. the video "Don't Tread on Me"
All of these are available from youtube.

at the point you are making a dvd

I would include a lot more than 10 minutes worth of stuff for that price.
Maybe a ten minute highlight clip and then chapters of him speaking on different specific issues for people to select.

Good idea

I can see that. Have the first 10 minutes something that auto-plays once its in the dvd player and then a menu afterwards to choose whatever issue Ron has spoken about that the viewer may be interested in.

Great idea

but the funding is still rather significant. While $700000 is very doable for the campaign itself it is going to be hard to impossible to raise as a grassroots movement. Perhaps you should pitch this to the campaign as a cheaper, more lengthy, and less expensive alternative to TV ad campaigns.
