Fundraising status report
Submitted by JimmyLiberty on Thu, 11/01/2007 - 18:52If we hit $3 million on the 5th, that'd put us probably just under $6 million. That'd put us halfway to the 4th quarter goal, nearly 2 weeks before the quarter is halfway over.
We'll probably get real close to 20,000 pledges. If you can give $200, we'd probably get there.

Some of you are too much.
It seems unless people are 100% behind the good doctor, they are (insert your non-positive/non-supportive adjective here).
Granted as stated below, the blogger will vote for RP, but not donate because he is not more agressive. Yes, that is weak reasoning not to donate.
The fact of the matter is that it is another vote for RP, and that should count for something.
One thing that seems to keep popping into my head after reading some threads is that people here at DailyPaul need to keep in mind that undecided voters come here and not just die hard supporters. Ragging on someone who will vote for Dr. Paul may very well turn people away.
Some other food for thought is: let's say you and a group of friends are at a crowded bar/club. One of your friends who is a bit on the passive side says they'll go get drinks. The bar is 2-3 people deep waiting for drinks... your friend isn't going to get your drinks for a long while.
One does not need to be overly aggressive or rude to get to the bar, but a bit of "enthusiasim" will get a person to the bar.
So to relate this to Congressman Paul's debate strategy: with properly worded and chosen times, RP can make more of an impression if he did interject. Seeing as how he isn't top tier yet, this may be a good thing to implement to an extent. What it come down to is calling more attention to himself as well as the top tier candidates's bogusness and lies. The key is not being rude or constanhtly doing this. Dr. Paul is very intelligent and a gentleman, he should have no problem in implementing this without it harming his reputation.
Huh?
I don't know how to respond to this bar thing lol
first of all
The lady didnt come here asking that question. ginger copied and pasted the post here so we could give our 2 cents and I assume respond to it herself.

Is he on the front pages of newspapers and consistently on news web page sites like Hillary, Obama, Giuliani, etc. are?
That's where we need him to be. That is top tier in my opinion.
well thats simple ...
Who owns the papers, tv news, radio? What serves their interests ? Why does neither party like RP? Is their really a difference between parties? really? I thought it was about money? because in that case Paul is third. HMM thats Top-Tier... By your statement .. Hucleberry actually did go from nowhere to top tier in 24 hours. At least thats what the media told you.

Our current president has won 2 elections with no oratory skills
Let's focus on constructive topics.

Outstanding speaking skills!
I listened to Ron Paul give a speech in person in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Sunday Oct 28th. Believe me, there is nothing lacking in his speaking skills. He is an outstanding speaker.
One of the first things that impressed me about Ron Paul a few months ago was the quality of his speaking...without notes, without pretense, without showmanship...but with honesty, intelligence, and a profound love of liberty.
comment from a blog about Ron's oratory skills
This woman said she wouldn't donate to the campaign unless Ron Paul had improved his presence at debates.
One thing that I appreciate about him is his lack of political ambition. I trust what he says, but his opportunities to say things could be increased.
Here is the comment:
It's not whether I would vote for him. I'll definitely vote for him. But, I know most people don't vote on what the candidate says so much as how he says it, and how understandable it is. Paul is not good in debate at making his points understandable to a general audience, and therefore not bringing as many as he could to his point of view. He's great by himself in interviews and in speeches, but in debates he breaks down. He rambles, doesn't interject when someone says something outrageous but rather waits until they tell him to talk, which reduces his effectiveness and ability to make the news. There have been so many opportunities that he missed. For example, the leading candidates in the debate for last said they supported free markets, but then said they supported agriculture subsidies. Why didn't he point out that subsidies and a free market are inconsistent, and that therefore those candidates were clueless? And, he doesn't clarify his positions for the layman (for example, when someone asked him about eliminating the CIA, he should have noted that he would turn intelligence gathering over to the State Department, instead of letting people have the impression that he would eliminate all the functions of the CIA). And I've yet to hear him on the debate stage tell the American people his qualifications to be president.
Why doesn't he brag about his record? The people need to know his resume. I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth when he peforms like this. So, unless he performs better next time, it's not worth my hard earned money to contribute to him.

What she should have done.
She should have sent these as constructive criticisms to the campaign, just like I asked that he not hold his pen in two hands, but stand taller and hold one arm across the podium and use the other to gesture, to give him a 'stronger' stance and appearance.
Huh?
Paul gets 3 to 4 questions per debate with 30 seconds to answer. Some people are just weird - just let them go.
What the?
"This woman said she wouldn't donate to the campaign unless Ron Paul had improved his presence at debates."
Is that what we want ...a candidate that does listening tours and asks us how he should portray himself?
Oh Come ON! that's just crazy. Why does this woman feel she has to control RP. Why does anybody. My god people look where we're at...do you think we would have gotten this far without some one as intelligent, compassionate, honest and consistant as RP?
I think I'm going to quit working on the campaign and stop contributing money because I saw Ron Paul wear a yellow shirt once on a youtube video. DUHHHHHHHHHH!
lol
lol yep you hit it on the head.. who cares if he has the pen in both hands, or doesn't stand exactly straight.. its the message!

Almost wholly disagree with the setiment.
Ron Paul needs to improve his debate and public speaking. Hard. As I saw it put, he looks and sounds like a 72 year old doctor from a rural county. Which he is. No one here is advocating Style and polish over substance. That's at the Mitt Romney campaign. But what I am suggesting is that the difference between Paul's and Reagan's appeal right now is that Reagan could pass his message along to others, while Paul has trouble. Heck, we do a great job at passing along his message, sometimes better than he himself does.

Reagan is able to make average joes who don't necessarily know the whole of the political realm, who may not already understand the world view that paul is coming from, understand him. Sometimes that involves a homely turn of phrase or two. I tell you what though, if Paul could speak like a Reagan or even as simple as a Huckabee _when warranted_ and still speak on the message, the others wouldn't stand a chance.
how silly of her
She'd prefer a rude, impulsive, slick orator who may or may not be telling the truth. I also cant figure out why you would agree with RP and his views BUT withhold money because hes not obnoxious. It's a poor excuse not to donate. Just saying I dont want to donate is fine but to rationalize in your head its because RP is not "Flashy" is weak.

Ab-so-lutely.
Once Lady Liberty starts turning green, it become a compulsion to help. It's embedded in every Paul supporter. When it's moving up quickly, eyes can't turn away, and every one of us gets swept up in the momentum. I have a feeling that that day is going to be euphoric here at Daily Paul. Everyone may say they're only going to donate $100.00, but all of us know that we'll end up giving more just to see Ms. Liberty's crown explode :)
I second that....
This is addictive! And the more I see the media trying to discredit everything about the campaign the more determined I get to make a difference!
