The rise of a Ron Paul-like politician in the UK?
British politician David Davis resigns from his positions as conservative MP and Shadow Home Secretary in protest against the erosion of civil liberties and intends to stand for reelection in his former constituency as an independent receiving wide-spread support.

"Could David Davis somehow have stumbled across something the establishment has missed, an untapped anger with what the public sees as a snooping, heavy-handed state that spies on it through speed cameras and CCTV and microchips on its rubbish bins, that tramples its freedoms and makes sloppy mistakes with its private data?
'I was hoping it would strike a chord with the public, and it turns out it really has touched a nerve,' Davis told The Observer yesterday. 'The more people from all walks of life who want to join in, the better."

David Icke
I feel compelled to defend David Icke. He has delved deeply into the conspiracy stuff and ended up sounding a bit crazy to many people. He has done a lot of research, and he may have at one point I think he may have cracked up under the pressure. You may not agree with his interpretation and conclusions but he has chosen a difficult path out of conviction, how many of us can truely say that we are that brave. Please listen to what he has been saying about lots of issues there is much truth to be found. If you listen too him on the Alex Jones show in the last week or so you will here some interesting stuff, relevent to his run against David Davis. In summary he is a British Alex Jones but he also talks about Reptilians and UFO's so that puts hims too far out for many. It is easy to ridcule those whose views are outside the "permitted" debate but here at least we should strive for all standing up to the NWO to be given a respectful hearing.
An RP-like politician in UK is..

David Davis looks like a shoo-in. He is now well positioned to take over from Dave Cameron as Tory leader in the event of:
1. Tories not getting an overall majority at the general election.
2. Tories becoming an unpopular government after the next election.
He has yet to put forward any specific policies.
Of all the candidates Davis is standing against, only one really stands out. David Icke is a best-selling author and successful public speaker.
Icke believes that shape-shifting lizards from the constellation of Draco are conspiring to take over the world. For further details, check out the most recent David Icke thread here on the Daily Paul.

The Haltemprice & Howden by-election on July 10th
will see David Davis pitted against 25 other candidates. Check 'em out.

Personally, I can't decide between "Lord Biro" from "The Church of The Militant Elvis Party" and Gemma Garrett from the "Miss Great Britain Party" ;-)
Non-brits please note: David Icke is not as good as he sounds from the brief description given. Check out his wikipedia entry. Same applies to the party of the National Front candidate.

Monster Raving Loony Party - now neo-conservative ?
"Mad Cow-Girl, whose real name is Rosalyn Warner, is a registered nurse who contested the Sunderland South seat in 2001 and 2005. She is standing on a policy of supporting pre-charge detentions of up to 42 days for terror suspects, saying: "I may be a loony but I'm not mad enough to want dangerous people walking free in the name of political correctness." "

David Davis
I believe he probably is for real, I don't see the NWO wants to bring our attention to these issues. He has taken a risk and the press tried to crusify him but they had to back off when he had so much support, lest they loose control of the agenda.
It is not like the NWO want any challenge to Cameron to be even discussed. Most politicians have been asleep like the people, the rest are corrupt. Stuff seems to be going on behind the scenes. I suggest we all buy a copy of Ron Paul's book and send one to our MP's.
He seems to have been in contact with the people at www.dwpcorruption.co.uk if you check it out so he has at least some idea about what is going on
this is fantastic

I wonder how many of those e-mails and offers of money were from UK Ron Paul fans?

Not the man, the message.
You mean his resignation speech isn't enough to get behind. We better wake up and support those capable of getting the message to the masses. That's what is important. People have got to hear this and when they begin to understand it will all break loose, otherwise we haven't a chance.

David Davis is closer to Bob Barr than Ron Paul
His voting record is terrible. His resignation on 42 day detention is pretty weird considering that:
1. He voted to extend detention-without-trial to 28 days.
2. The Conservative Party already opposes 42 day detention as official policy.
If David Davis called for the recall of UK troops from foreign soil and a return to the Gold Standard, that would be great.
Unfortunately, he hasn't.

Thank you for the information
Maybe he is an opportunist. But it shows even in the UK the people are fed up with the erosion of civil liberties.

In Britain
it is usually Labour Party MPs who distance themselves from their party leadership. David Davis is a long-standing Conservative Party MP who wants to distance himself from the entire political class! That is rare. To get my support, he would need to do a "mea culpa" and admit to his past mistakes.
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
Well,
maybe this is the start of David Davis moving closer to Ron Paul, just like
Boris Johnson. I know Johnson was for the war initially also, but he totally changed and an avid reader of LRC since years. With a libertarian-conservative as London mayor he would have more power. I heard the Liberal Democrats have announced they would not oppose Davis. Davis could lead a revolution. Don't you think he would be a better leader for the Tories than David Cameron? (I know they were in a race before).
Where's The Beef?
Styling oneself as anti-establishment is very easy. Offering an alternative is something else. The description of Davis as "Obama-like" is pretty accurate.
Davis/Johnson/Obama: "I want CHANGE."
Voter: "What kind of change?"
Davis/Johnson/Obama: "Change You Can Believe In!"
Voter: "What are your specific policy changes?"
*SOUND OF CRICKETS CHIRPING*
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
Good Point
But I think it is worth watching this guy, even for non-UK Paulists.
BTW I guess "Obama-like" refered to his campaign. That was hurting, since it should be called "Ron-Paul-like".

Ron Paul was right
Why is David Davis reluctant to set out any policies?
He opposes about ID cards and 42 day detention. He doesn't like the abuse of anti-terror laws. Great. Ditto for the Conservative Party leader. Ditto for many Labour Party MPs. How is Davis any different?
Why won't Boris Johnson say "Troops Out" if he has misgivings about Iraq?
As Mayor of London, how will Boris be any different from Red Ken?
Sorry for all the rhetorical grandstanding. At least it keeps this thread bumped ;-)
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
Obama-like? That hurts.
"He hopes to run the campaign on small donations from ordinary people, and stage genuine debates engaging everyone from politicians and those who have directly experienced terrorist violence to ordinary people. It could be, said one aide, an 'Obama-like' campaign for the masses."

I was also impressed with
one gentleman who said "in all of my life I would never vote for a Tory, but now I will" - it gives us great insight to the seriousness of their feelings.
I agree with you totally
I spent over an hour reading comments following one of these stories in a UK paper a couple of nights ago. The elites, I mean the dictators, have literally shoved the EU down their throats. Brown wouldn't even let the British citizens have a vote. They know the referendum wouldn't work. Thank God for the Irish. Go David Davis. You could sense the anger in the people so much so one woman called for a General Strike. We have it here and they have it there. NWO has a problem ahead. Thanks for posting this it could very well be helpful to us.
We can only hope!
Loved seeing this! Thanks for posting!
Its catching on!
