Although some would find it difficult to put Eisenhower in the same category as Eisenhower on many issues, on the issue of military spending this is a powerful article!

Dwight Eisenhower was a war criminal....
for what he did to some 1,200,000 German POW's.
The current term "Enemy Combatant" that the NeoCons are using to deny any rights to suspected terrorists is not new (which the Supreme Court finally overthrew recently).
Eisenhower at the end of WW II designated over 1,200,000 German soldiers (mainly old men and young boys) as "Defeated Enemy Forces" or DEF who magically became no longer POW's (who would be treated under the Geneva Conventions) but persons without any rights.
Sound familiar?
These German POW's who surrendered peacefully to Allied and U.S. soldiers at the end of WW II ended up in these open-field concentation camps (no roof over their heads) were literally starved to death by the U.S. soldiers in charge of running these camps.
When family members of these POW's trying to give them food (as they were not given any food to survive), the American soldiers would shoot them.
Google "Defeated Enemy Forces" or check out the book "Other Losses" in Amazon.
