From what I know about Codex... it could be used to justify anything. Makes sense that if the Government is going to pay for health care that they would control everything you put in your mouth.
For those who don't know... it is pretty much illegal to say "this cures that" or make medical claims for any natural product, supplement or nutrient. That is why all natural web sites have FDA disclaimers - but even with that "free speech" is limited.
Someone
below resurrected this old post.
Actually, I've noticed this a lot lately where people that have accts. over a yr. old but are barely used do this; (not all). Probably the same keyholes that are set up to yell during Obomba/McLame conventions (remember those deep, testosterone driven "yeahs"? They are the same at every neo-con schill speech). This especially happens when a significant economic or safety issue comes up in the news.
Either way, if this comes to pass, it would be nice to trade Vitamin C for codeine with a Canadian (since it is sold o-t-c there ;)

Some of you people are
Some of you people are pretty naive, if you haven't figured out they are trying to control every aspect of our lives yet you are in denial. There has been a concerted effort to regulate and even outlaw vitamins for several years..
It may not pass but if it does it will be because to many people thought it never could so didn't pay any attention to it.

STOP THIS DISINFO CRAP!!!!
This BS is from June of LAST year. And I wouldn't believe anything from Mercola dot com. Just another snake (krill) oil salesman. This guy has a vested money interest in everything he talks about. He stammers like a fool and drives me crazy listening to him talk.

I trust Mercola
You must be a medical sick care fan. Lots of medical doctors dislike Dr. Mercola. I think that's funny.
Vitamin C, guinea pigs
One study shows that by taking 500 mg Vitamin C for 90 days and beyond you can reduce blood pressure approximately 8 points. Another study says Vitamin C supplements cause hardening of the arteries.
Don't take my word, do some checking of your own.
Many studies are rigged
The FDA funds a lot of studies which are pre-destined to show that a supplement, or combination of supplements are worthless. Then the results are reported in the media: "Taking Vitamin E Does You No Good."
What is not said, however, is that the study only gave the participants 30ius of vitamin E, when 400ius is the standard dose.
This is like conducting a study on aspirin, with - instead of giving the patient the normal dose (2 325mg tablets) they give the patient 1/5th of ONE tablet. They then publish that asprin is ineffective.
This happens a lot.
I like Mercola, but he is a bit strident in my view. As far as Canada banning vitamin C, or other supplements is conerned, this would not surprise me. Thing to do is to stock up now, on 1,000 mg tabs or caps. The best form of vitamin C is either Ester C (w/bioflavenoids), Calcium Ascorbate or Magnesium Ascorbate. Taking staight Ascorbic Acid is hard on the stomach lining. Also powdered vitamin C (buffered) with bioflavenoids is a very good way to take it. Mix it in a blender with orange juice, a little water and the juice of 1/2 lemon. Powerful and good!
zenpiper, thanks for the heads-up on "C"
You are well versed on Vitamins.
I have found that Vitamin C does lower my blood pressure, especially if I do aerobic exercises and/or a good hot steam bath combined. I should really loose #25 and my blood pressure would be normal by itself with exercise; #45 no exercise.
I have used Vitamin C enough to probably to substantiate a Japanese study that C causes harding of the arteries. Although my cardiovascular arteries check out reasonably good for a 66 y/o male, by chance, for a sinus problem a MRI discovered that I have hardening of brain arteries, which isn't that uncommon for my age. I'm on a 81 mg aspirin per day regimen and two fish oil capsules to reduce stroke incident.
Japan became C-phobic after their study and orange juice sales plummeted. Their drink of choice now, is cranberry juice.
This is insane.
LOL Smoking marijuana isn't even criminalized in Canada. There are NO controlled substances in Canada that have a fine of $5,000,000 to use.
Sounds like someone is a little paranoid. As a Canadian, I'd PREFER that vitamins required a prescription because then they'd be cheaper!
they would not be cheaper in
they would not be cheaper in any way. they would be much more expensive with a prescription mandate. in india, there are no prescriptions required for any drug. that is why all medicine there, natural and synthetic, is super cheap.
Its not about price, its about quality. Remember that.

Wait until they go as far as needing to have a prescription for
taking your next breath!
Once Codex Alimentarius is implemented I see a dark future ahead of being allowed to look after yourself.
What are the chances that will pass?
Because it's just ridiculous.
