South American Union

This isn't about Bob Barr, but I found it to be interesting. I hadn't heard this before.

The South American Union is a mixed bag
Like the EU, it presents some free-market advantages such as lower or no import tariffs for products produced within the union. If properly implemented, legislation can force all member states to be financially responsible.
And like the EU, it presents the risks connected to central planning and global government.
Of course, the right way is the free market way. Drop tariffs without uniting the governments. Let workers circulate without giving them a common passport.
More Central control...
How can that be good?
It just make it easier for the rich and powerful.
Apparently we need to devises a Non-Central plank as to why Globalization, a single central bank and a framework for central control only takes control of our life away, removes local community bonds and takes money that would otherwise circulate and nourish local business and commerce.

Great thread
Did you happen to read the so called benefits of the Union. I think they should ask the EU countries if they have seen all those benefits. Peace
