2nd Amendment

I am suprised to see that the Supreme Courts ruling on the 2nd Amendment is not on the top of the list of discussion. As always you cannot take what the msm puts out there as the whole story. If you read the decision that has been issued by the Supreme Court you will find that a detailed deffinition of the 2nd Amendment has been considered and found to agree with the ideals of liberty. I urge you to read it. You will find that the narrow 5 to 4 ruling goes in favor of the idea that the People have the right to KEEP and BEAR arms. It is an individual right. Surprisingly it is pointed out that self defense and protection from despots are the main purpose for this right. I urge you to read it.

I do not agree with the idea

I do not agree with the idea of any form of firearm registration nor do I beleave that the government should be given any power to require a permit in order to bear arms. I live in Maryland, which happens to have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. I am filled with frustration on a dailey basis that I am considered a criminal for bearing my weapon. While this decision by the Supreme Court is not the answer to all of the problems associated with restrictions on firearms it is a step in the correct direction. Much work and much fighting is ahead.

Rocky Mountain Gun Owners

provided an accurate, concise summary of what the decision really says. Although I still count the decision as a "W", I'm not enthusiastic about it. The affirmation of government's authority to register guns is distressing.

"Heller Decision Reaffirms Most Gun Controls

After an initial assessment of the Supreme Court's Heller decision, this decision may go down as the court ruling that stops gun bans but protects gun control.

Though we'll have a more comprehensive analysis of the case later, there is some good -- and a lot bad -- in the SCOTUS decision:

It reaffirms the Second Amendment as an individual right, and is unconnected with service in a militia;

It overturns trigger lock laws as unconstitutional;

However, it reaffirms the ability of government to license, register and regulate all types of firearms.

In short, it gives a green light to all forms of gun control except the banning of entire classes of arms.

Again, we'll have a full analysis shortly."

Would you rather the decision have gone in favor of D.C.?

Anyone who supports gun

Anyone who supports gun registration needs to be asked very specifically, what is the purpose of registration, if not to allow the possibility of eventual confiscation? Do we need to register our computers? Do we need to register our fishing poles? Do we need to register our bows?

gil they are trying to keep

gil they are trying to keep us "cowboys" appeased while still trying to backdoor everything! watch this hand while the other does something else..
if they tried to rule against the second ammendment i'M not to sure that that woould be the straw to break the camels back as far as the citizens being passive!

Luckily

There are millions of guns in the US that the government don't know about in the hands of honest law abiding "we the people"
