We need to stop being hostile to new posters

Hey guys, I'm just writing this cause I notice that every time someone new posts a concern as their first post, they immediately get interrogated and questioned. I know we are all trying to protect the campaign but we have to make sure we don't get so aggressive that we scare off new supporters. It's more important to gain new supporters than to interrogate every new person and scare them all off in the process. The fake supporters will stand out in the long run. Just my thoughts.

Thanks

You make a great point- what are we so paranoid about? We have truth on our side. No need to get personal or go immediately into counter-attack mode. When a new poster shows up- let's welcome them- not attack them!

This is true

I've handed out thousands of high quality home made business cards of Ron Paul with this site as a link to go to. There are going to be a lot of people interested in the philosophy of libertarianism coming here. We need to answer their questions the best we can, or else they won't give a damn about our campaign.

Agreed

Though I don't like the word "we". I'm certainly not ugly to anyone here. But there sure are some here who will jump on a new poster with garbage like "You've only been here 4 hours. Go away."

That strikes me as incredibly stupid. We're trying to promote Ron Paul for president. New people are hearing his message and coming in all of the time. They should be most welcome.

If they post something disagreeable as a first post, just debate the substance of the post. If the person ends up being a troll, that'll be evident soon enough.

I suggest we try to stay

I suggest we try to stay focused on the purpose of this site, which, according to the "About DP" page, is "to help Dr. Paul in his bid for President of the United States in 2008."

If someone makes a post that may be harmful to the cause, either provide examples of why they are wrong about Dr. Paul, or don't respond at all and it will be buried.

Not the way I learned it...

I learned it as 5 (Five) boxes of freedom and in the following order...
1. The Ballot Box: (The easiest box with the fewest excuses.)
2. The Jury Box: (More people make excuses, requires inconvenience)
3. The Soap Box: (Even more excuses, requires you stick your neck
out and stand out from the crowd and talk to people
about things they may not want to hear about.)
4. The Cartridge Box: (Lots of excuses, only true Patriots and Freedom
Lovers dip into this box.)
5. The Pine Box: (No excuses left, what we must be willing to consign
ourselves into, if necessary, to preserve or regain
our Freedoms and Liberty..."our Lives, our
Fortunes and our sacred Honor!")

pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity; and
worship without sacrifice: Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi

That wasn't part of my post,

That wasn't part of my post, it's my signature. But yeah, I'm sure there are variations on the quote. AFAIK, Howdershelt coined it, or at least he claimed to on the site where I found it. I don't know anything about him, I just liked the quote.

Witch hunt?

I'm tired of it. I've posted a couple times about it. More innocent people than actual trolls are being accused. Its a witch hunt and it really makes me angry. I'm done now, cause my blood pressure is rising.

I agree, I cringed last time I saw a new poster being 'outed' as

a troll. We can't know, even if it's true --

Answer the poster the way Ron Paul would, answer the questions with the truth of the message every single time, even if it turns out to be a long drawn out debate.

Also (sorry)

anything that anyone can see is a blatant attempt to 'upset' the forum can be completely ignored by the rest of us, just wait 10 minutes and it'll totally drop of the first page :)

I concur

Only once you have seen a few posts can you really make any judgement on someone. We shouldn't judge someone solely on the content of a single post.
