We're not just the internet...

A thought occurred to me about Ron Paul ruling the internet. For the past 10 years, I've watched this behemoth thing called the internet grow exponentially - everyone is online now-a-days - the internet is HUGE!

Then comes the mainstream media, with their attempt to marginalize Dr. Paul's dominance of this media, and then to suggest that the internet is insignificant, is exactly why America is waking up to the mis-information age. Each of the mainstream media constitute only a small percentage of this monolithic internet, yet Ron Paul rocks and rules the whole thing, and is only getting bigger. #1 Republican on MySpace.com, #1 Presidential candidate on YOUTUBE (by subscribers), and quickly closing in to become #1 on views. #1 Republican website in May, up from 8th. in March. 'Ron Paul' still in the top 4 'most searched' terms in blogosphere (and was #1 for weeks and weeks). All of this WITHOUT the help of the MSM.

I say that to say this. Every set of eyes that logs on was birthed by someone. Tell yo' Momma. Tell yo' granny. Tell yo' Daddy. Tell yo' sister. Tell anything that moves, is 18 by primary day, and can vote. Tell them to check him out, register Republican, and vote in the primary. Help them do that if you can. I tell folks that Ron Paul is the most popular candidate on the internet, bar none, and then continue to say, "he's number one on YouTube, MySpace, Eventful.com, and has the most traffic to his website...more than any other Republican!" Most of the time their interest is tweaked.

Fundraising financials are coming out soon - don't let all the other candidates bigger numbers get you down. Ron Paul has support that CAN'T BE BOUGHT; support that is significantly more valuable, and not even measurable in dollars. Consider the number of us that spent much of our day handing out fliers and bumper stickers that we paid for. Driving around in a vehicles plastered with signs that we made or paid for. And working many hours that the RP campaign NEVER asked us to work. That, my friends, is what we're ALL doing - It has a priceless value to this cause, and hasn't been calculated into Ron Paul's numbers. Keep it up - we WILL WIN!

I saw the Philly group's banners on I-95 today. Nice job!

Bad News

Unfortunatly we still are just the internet. EVERYONE I have talked to about Ron Paul has had no knowledge of who he is or what he stands for. I have yet to meet a person that knew who he was before he was brought up in conversation. Im trying to do my part though in spreading the word, got a few bumper stickers and shirts supporting him and try to tell everyone I know about him. Hopefully for each person I tell about Ron Paul, they will tell at least 5 people, and those people will tell 5 people, and so on and so on.

Just hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is true (for now) that we are just the internet. Hopefully we can spread the word even more before its too late and we are stuck with the lesser of two evils again.

I agree

I think I have a suggestion to change that. While working on Nader's ballot access, we organized to petition, and I found petitioning a good campaign tool. So what if Ron Paul supporters formed a petition? First question, Do you know who Ron Paul is? And then go into asking points important to Ron Paul's campaign: Do you agree the IRS should be eliminated? Do you agree America needs to leave foreign wars? The petition should be short, and designed to have the petitionee respond YES, yes, yes. This will also enable supporters to pass out information on Ron Paul and sell bumper stickers, pins, tee shirts. A meet-up group going to Wal-Mart, community events, farmer's markets, the post office, and other public places can design the petition to reflect the theme of the event and really make a difference. Imagine Ron Paul supporters at the "Live Earth" event with an RV "employed as a headquarters. Only a suggestion.

Good Idea.

We need to remember that each person we meet who hasn't heard of Ron Paul is like gold. Why? Because they represent a whole new branch of the network (friends, family, etc.). When people learn about Ron Paul, a very high percentage are immediately converted. Our real asset is not "current popularity" (as good as that may be); it’s the high success rate of our campaign. It’s the same as compound interest with a much higher interest rate than all the other candidates. So, as with any investment, start as early as possible, to allow time for the people you bring in to work too. The exponential growth rate is indisputable. Voters for the other candidates usually vote while still in a state of confusion. RP voters are not confused. They're impervious to slogans, hype, and smear.

I posted this a while back: (put in any percentage you like)
If each of us (the "2%") gets 5 solid supporters (meaning: contact 10, get 6 who’ll vote, of which 5 will work), then we’ll have:
2% + 5*2% = 12%
Then those each get 4 new supporters. That will make:
12% + 4*12% = 60%

That will win the election by a landslide. This is the unique beauty of a grassroots campaign. In a corporate campaign, each of those votes must not only be purchased in some way (by chronic appearances in the news, etc.), but they must be cautiously maintained - protected from truth - because truth can ruin everything. In other words, their votes are fragile and are slipping away; ours are solid and are increasing. It's the best position to be in long term.

But the key is to get them to read, not listen to you.

But the key is to get them to read. If you try to "teach" people, their defenses are usually up. Just tell them where to go to check him out. If they're like most people, they'll read and read. And you've used very little of your time.

Engage Them with a smile

Thank you for the response JSmith,

Whether it's getting folks to read, or sharing a few words, I believe the trick is to engage them. Petitioning isn't standing on a soap box. I was running around parking lots asking people, "Do you believe an independent has the RIGHT to be on the ballot?" That's about as much conversation I got into. In truth, I got far more "lip" than I gave, especially from ENRAGED Democrats. I saw this post by NMlifestyles and I thought, take these points and make them into "Did you know" questions.

Do you know who Ron Paul is?: Yes No

Ron Paul is a constitutionalist.
Ron has never voted to raise taxes.
Ron has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
Ron has never voted for the Iraq War.
Ron has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
Ron has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
Ron has never voted to raise congressional pay.
Ron has never taken a government-paid junket.
Ron voted against the Patriot Act.
Ron votes against regulating the Internet.
Ron voted against NAFTA and CAFTA.
Ron votes against the United Nations.
Ron votes against the welfare state.
Ron votes against reinstating a military draft.
Ron votes to preserve the constitution.
Ron votes to cut government spending.
Ron votes to lower healthcare costs.
Ron votes to end the war on drugs.
Ron votes to protect civil liberties.
Ron votes to secure our borders with real immigration reform

I would add at the end, "Ron Paul is a candidate running for president of the USA in 2008. Please vote for Ron Paul www.Ron Paul2008.com"

There's a good petition. Maybe all a person has time for is, "Do you know who Ron Paul is?" If they say, "NO and I don't have time." Give them the paper. Keep a running list of yes and nos on "Who is Ron Paul?"

BTW JSmith, If Nader runs, I'll volunteer to help Nader get ballot access, and I'll be wearing my Ron Paul tees and offer a Ron Paul petition because as Ron Paul points out, "Nader has the right to run". My vote is going to Ron Paul. PS I like your first post very much.

The Revolution Is Here

Very inspiring message, MI.

Today, for the first time ever, I saw a Ron Paul bumper sticker on someone's car! It was a Ron Paul Revolution sticker. The message is spreading. The grassroots are growing like weeds.

But there is much work to do and the sand is spilling from the hour-glass.

Every little bit counts

I changed party affiliations to vote in CA primaries as Rep. for Paul. I haven't been as active as many others here re: group meetings and banner making. But I wear a Ronpaul2008 T-shirt, I donated $25 to his campaign, and we have a bumper sticker on our car.

Every little bit counts! Please please, register Republican so that you can support Paul in the primaries.

Dr. Paul supporters in California

Driving south on 101 (main freeway bt SF and San Jose) near Mt. View yesterday there was a huge Ron Paul banner on the overpass. I have already convinced 2 of my friends to change party affiliation in the primary to vote for Dr. Paul. When I sent them some of his anti-war remarks in the debates from youtube - they had no problem voting for him in the primary. Especially his debate with Rudy.

Our little meetup group

Our little meetup group started with 2 and is now 40. We had a Ron Paul Freedom Float in a local parade on the 4th of July (small East Texas town) and I personally handed out 500 Ron Paul hand bills. To my surprise10% knew who he was and were going to vote for him and not one of the other 90% said they had another candidate in mind and all took the info and said "thank you we'll take a look." Get your "Feet on the Streets folks", let people know the message, everyone is sick and tired of whats been going on, they will be receptive.

Not just the Internet in WA

Washington state is not just the internet either, we have covered a local state route for about 35 miles, can't get to the beach without seeing banners signs and flags! The Great Ron Paul Overnight is rising it's glory for all the country to see.

We sure aren't

I was in Iowa. That was more than the internet. I'm here in Parkersburg West Virginia, and I see bumper stickers and yard signs. That is more than the internet.

My mother doesn't use the internet except for emails related to my stepfather's work - but she's coming around to Paul. I called my cousins with the intention of harassing them about RP, but 1/3 of them were already believers. That is more than the internet.

I'm meeting with the Young Republicans group in this area soon, and that is more than the internet.

Dr. Paul's chances are slim, but not as slim as they were a few months ago. In the end, no matter what happens, I'll know I did my best to play a part in averting the disasters to come under whatever future administrations we are forced to suffer.

Everyone knows the deal: get out from behind your screens and be more than the internet.

Dr. Paul is slim...but his chances are GREAT!

If you think you can, you can; if you think you can't...you're probably right. We have NO OTHER OPTION! So, don't leave your house without Dr. Paul fliers; don't drive without shoe polish on your window or a sign (I have a 6' x 16" banner on each side of my family van and signs on my back window, plus 2 bumper stickers on each bumper). Engage everyone! I see people straining to read my window signs - I drove my van all around an art fair here in Harbor Springs and purposefully position my vehicle so as many people can see it as possible. I can hear people commenting. I prefer to think only like the 'little engine who could'. I think we can, I think we can, I think we can!

Another idea...

I use two large Ron Paul yard signs in my car's windshield wherever I park, like a sunshade. Have your brochures or slim jims handy when you do this, I have found people (some incredibly interesting) loitering near my car wondering who Ron Paul is when I return, great opportunity for them to come to you...

Just a straw poll, but...

If you know anything about GA politics, you know Cobb County is one of the most Republican counties in one of the most Republican states in America (actually makes up part of Gingrich's old district). Purely through the efforts of a few local meetup groups, we managed a 2nd place showing in a Cobb County GOP straw poll. (And no, it was not a text message straw poll). ;^)

Props to our meetup leaders for organizing such a great showing.

Peace be with you.

Internet support is terrific, but..

It is essential that each RP supporter REGISTER AS A REPUBLICAN!

Without that, there's NO real vote for Dr. Paul.

Go to the above link, click on your state, fill out the form, print out the mail-in form, send it in and then you will be all set.

Probably a good idea to sincerely pray for Dr. Paul's continued success and safety also.

It's working.

It's working. We're actually moving the needle. There has been a sharp rise in the RATE of video views of Ron Paul in the past week. Below is data I’ve been tracking:

Day Vid. views/day
27th 7,000
28th 10,000
29th 20,000
30th 35,000
1st 60,000
2nd 100,000
3rd 140,000

The number of RP views was already an order of magnitude larger than the next highest in the GOP. So his growth rate was the hardest to budge. Yet it's scorching the competition! Incredible.

Google Search results

About 6 days ago I googled Ron Paul and got 10.5 million results.
Today I got 44 million.
This large of a jump is such a short time is inexplicable.

Rudy McRomney is (are) running consistent at about 2.5 million.

July 3rd Ron Paul Overnight.

Just wondering how many of you did anything the night of the 3rd(into the morning of the 4th). We here in NW Ohio were up until 4:00am putting up signs near where the big fireworks event was going to be, and putting up banners on overpasses leading into the downtown area. Not sure how effective it was, but man it was fun.

Our NW Ohio meetup is up to 48 people now, and we have a hard core group of about 10 people. This thing is growing by leaps and bounds. This is the cross section of people in our group. I'm a 40 year old father of two(white as white can be), a recent grad girl 23, an artist who leans liberal, a black guy who seems a bit militant(into the militia) but is as commited as can be, a former Vietnam vet and his wife. An older black woman who is the mother of the guy above, and NUMEROUS young people.

This is cutting across all demographic borders. All of them have their reasons for loving Ron Paul, BUT THE ONE THAT EVERYONE AGREES ON....... The Constitution.......

We had a blast!!

I personally organized 3 Ron Paul events in the past 2 days and I am currently one of the major organizers of the Annual CNHT event. Needless to say I'm pooped but I'm going to keep right on going.

There will be a huge Ron Paul presence at CNHT and Rand will be speaking.

It is a shame that in order to vote for Ron in polls by phone, you have to say OTHER. I make it a point to state who, but I fear that it is not even considered even if OTHER gets the most votes. I get frustrated when they include Newt or others who are not even declared and tell them so. They should have all and only the declareds mentioned to vote for.

Also, since AP was so eager to write an article stating that Ron 'crashed' the party in Iowa, why now are they not putting out an article that tells WHAT HAPPENED THERE? Please write to info@ap.org to ask them where was their coverage of the 1,200 people who showed up for Ron Paul in Iowa in response to their CRASHING article?

FOX News allows you to upload photos and video at their UREPORT link.

I think anyone who took video of that Iowa crowd that day should upload to FOX or any other MSM outlet... and demand to know why it was not covered.

Let me tell you what's been happening here in Philadelphia, PA, the birthplace of the former Constitution of the United States of America. The splendiferous Mr. Jay Parker, a man with NO EQUAL on the face of the planet earth when it comes to making Ron Paul banners and signs, convened a crew of equally diverse strangers who also share respect for the Constitution and know that it NEEDS A DOCTOR. Check out the Philadelphia Meet Up for still shots and videos courtesy of the inimitable Feeser-man.

This crew will likewise soon be putting up (Tyvec) banners on interstate overpasses.

The great Ron Paul overnight

Here in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area of Florida the place is plastered with Ron Paul signs. They are everywhere!

Ron in People's Republic of Berkeley?!

When I drove through Berkeley, CA yesterday, there was a giant "Ron Paul Revolution" banner and American flags hung over the freeway!
