61-year-old librarian threatened with arrest at McCain town hall for holding sign

When Republican presidential candidate John McCan held a town hall meeting in Denver on July 7, 61-year-old librarian Carol Kreck showed up in the plaza outside holding a sign reading "McCain=Bush." She was asked by security to leave and then told by a police officer that she would be charged with trespassing on city property if she did not give up her sign.

When Kreck refused, she was ticketed, escorted off the premises, and threatened with arrest if she tried to return. "Why is that offensive?" Kreck said of her sign. "Why would Republicans who voted for Bush find it offensive?"

Is the GOP trying to confess something?

I can't believe

they would 'throw the book' at a 61 year old librarian holding her sign. What the hell is happening to this world?

A public citizen trespassing

A public citizen trespassing on public property....interesting. An obvious abuse of first amendment rights. She should sue the city and if any John Insane folks were involved, the Insane campaign also. Obviously violation of the first amendment on a number of counts.

Funny

her sign didn't say McCain=(put anything horrible you can think of here)

It simply said McCain=Bush. That COULD have been meant as a positive. So the cops that arrested her are really the ones at fault. They think saying he equals Bush is a terrible thing.

i hope she fights the

i hope she fights the government for abusing her 1st amendment rights.

wow, that's when you know

wow, that's when you know the president really does suck.... Even his supporters find comparing him to others offensive.

Dontcha ;)

just wanta hug her ;)

Bear in mind that her age,

Bear in mind that her age, at 61, may have been a factor.

At a McCain rally, she may have been perceived as an "annoying young whippersnapper".
