Ban Bob Barr from DailyPaul

0 votes

Yeah just like redstate.com did to Ron Paul!

Lets ban Boob Barf once and for all!!! and all the Bartards too.

Stupid idea ain't it? Sounds like fascism to me.

I have been on this forum for almost a year now and never seen so many members going around insulting other members etc. as I do with the Barr bashing. These guys make me sick really.
If Ron Paul is not running for president then Barr is my best choice at this point based on his platform. Forum members going around telling other members who have been on this forum longer than they have that they should go else where are doing nothing for our movement or the survival of this forum. If you do not like Barr fine but you have no right to tell people what they can talk about here and you do nothing but bump Pro Barr posts with your persistent bashing on every post so you defeat your own goal and promote the very thing you profess to be against.
Most of the pro Barr people here have been here a longtime too. It is not like we were sitting in hiding waiting for Barr to run. Or was the first time we visited the dailypaul to troll for this guy. We are part of the movement and have been all along Dr. Paul is sitting out right now working hard in the Congress this guy is a reformed neocon who is getting some press and picked up the torch from Dr. Paul. Barr would not even be in the race if Ron had taken the Libertarian nomination. If we could reform every neocon like Barr guess what? We Win! Crapping on those who have cometo ourside is no way to win this war.
Ron Paul could have been the 1st candidate in history to get the nomination of 3 parties but he chose not to do that for a reason. I doubt that reason was to get us fighting between our self. So try to live and let live. Barr stands to bring alot of people in to this movement and Dr. Paul will be our patron saint philosopher at the helm while guys like Barr and Baldwin try to slug it out with the politicians. Barr is a tough cookie and will beat McBama with the freedom stick.

(btw I did google boobbarf by mistake)

Yeah- I think people need to stop ARGUING amongst ourselves-

'DIVIDE AND CONQUER'

Remember that? What we are 'up against' would LOVE for us to become separated- it is MUCH easier to conquer 'us' and our message then.

Remember that.

GO RON PAUL!!!!!!

When worse comes to worse in the Nov elections, I'd execute my..

"Plan B"...(Plan B)arr!

enuff said.

Viva Barr!!

I talked my Republican Parents into voting for Barr. They have been Republican since the 1950's. They don't want to vote for McCain..

At first, I was reticent to support Bob Barr, but every time he speaks he demonstrates a profound eloquence and persuasiveness for liberty. Like almost every politician, he has supported in the past things that he professes to be against now. Unlike many politicians, his previous political philosophy is separated from the current by many years wandering in the "wilderness". I do believe there was some genuine epiphanies and transformations in that time. Even if he is not totally honest in ALL his libertarian statements, that is ok, because he is out there, making the case for liberty strongly and loudly. He is polling in low double, high single digits in MANY states (especially the swing states) and this is going to make him very intriguing to the media (and pull him into debates). Furthermore, he is a more persuasive orator and deft debater than Ron Paul, though I believe Paul would be (still could be) the better President.

For now, I will offer him my moral support, and promote his candidacy to friends. But I cannot give him any money or grassroots volunteer efforts until after the Republican convention. There are a lot of great Ron Paul projects in the works, with the dvds4delegates project, the manifesto for delegates project, the alternate convention, the march, the American Liberty Coalition "blanketing" of St. Paul with billboards/ads, etc. I believe St. Paul will become a perfect storm and something miraculous is happening.

As Dr. Paul said

He has been speaking our language. As long as he continues to do that he will have my support as will Chuck Baldwin and anyone else who says the right things. I do not discriminate based on past events.

Well, Barr had better deliver

the "name recognition" and the additional votes that are supposed to come with that.
That's why he was nominated, apparently.

The question is who will he attract, and why?

A couple of my coworkers

A couple of my coworkers claim to be patriots and claim to be conservative. They do not really like McCain and don't feel like there as been a true conservative in the race because they think being for the war is a prerequisite of conservatism. I have had a little luck getting some of them to look beyond the AM talk radio smears at Barr. Barr also was one of the people who impeached Clinton so he's probably not pulling any support from Dems. Then there's Root... So my impression is it's not about us at all. It's about tapping the GOP a little more. People will only cross over to Barr if they feel like they missed out on Paul when he was more viable or distaste for McCain is so great they are forced to answer questions that they assumed to be. Like the whole vote split thing vs principle. Barr is essentially the anybody but McCain vote.

Is taking a look at Barr due his opposition to FISA and war in general, issues a great many Dems have in common with Barr and us.

Barr May Bring a Viable Libertarian Party

With Bob Barr already polling from 5-10% in various states according to Zogby, even if not Ron Paul, he could establish the Libertarian Party as a permanent third force. He is worth backing just to establish a third party. He is close to qualifying for the You Tube debate. Today he is leading McCain in a conservative poll. http://www.theconservativevoice.com/vote/results/

There are not many candidates as great as Ron Paul, but compared to other choices Bob Barr is very good.

Ron called him an ally

Ron Paul said that Barr was an ally to him, and a good voice for liberty.

He says he could never support McCain or Obama.

I choose the ally.

Vote Barr, and give freedom a voice in 2008

Baldwin and the CP's socail stances are crazy, no thanks for me.

This....

Is what impresses me most about Bob Barr - He didnt want to run initially - He tried to convince Ron Paul to run on the libertarian ticket.

Very interesting. Can you please provide a source?!!

Got a link to some source or something in writing verifying your statement?

Hope so cause I think this is important data on Barr.

Barr made a motion to ask the LP to invite Ron Paul to run

They passed the motion to send an invitation to Ron Paul to add his name to the list of nominees. They don't have the authority to do more since it's up to the delegates to actually nominate. Based on bumperstickers and other signs (not the least of which is how many LP members are active in the Revolution), Ron Paul would easily have won the nomination.

I read it possibly at LP.org or in the LPNews. I'm sure you can find it. Maybe the minutes of the meeting are posted somewhere.

Barr made the motion and the LP passed it last year sometime. Of course we complain about no media coverage for Ron Paul, but you'll note that when it happened, even most people here didn't hear about it.

That's why, in part, I voted as a delegate for Barr. It's my way of saying "thank you" and encouraging more of the same.

If Barr is so tough, he would have stood up for liberty

Instead, he voted YES to pass the (un)Patriot Act.

Forgiving someone for past errors is not the same as entrusting that same person with future responsibilities. Would you hire a lawyer or CPA rightfully convicted of embezzlement to manage the books or a multi-billion dollar business, as long as they were sorry about what they had done? Would you hire a rightfully convicted child molester to babysit your kids, as long as they were sorry they had done what they had done? Would you allow a surgeon who had lost a patient and due to his/her own negligence to operate on you? I'll go out on a limb, and say probably not, right?

So, why are you so willing to let a man who's judgement was equally bad continue onto positions of greater and greater authority? Because he's 'sorry'?

Bob Barr is sorry, and that's why he's unfit for office.

Patriot Act

I, and perhaps others here, also believed in the Patriot Act and the Iraq war at one time. We all have been naive in our lives and we learn/evolve at different paces. People can change.

Most importantly, Barr will probably not be in a position to run the government. He simply is our spokesman right now, and "he's saying the right things" (Paul). If Barr does win the Presidency, I think he will be a far better President than McCain or Obama. He will not forget that a philosophy of liberty earned him the right to the Presidency, (just as McCain is beholden his corporate benefactors and Obama to the socialist dependents).

barrs drug problem

barr still has a drug problem he needs to work on.
at least he's now for medical marijuana, remember the barr amendment, i do!

Good post

Just one "correction". Barr has been a traditional Old Right politician with a libertarian streak all along. He is definitely more consequent and libertarian now, but I would not call him an ex-neocon. The neocons are really a very small group, that has become very influential especially with Bush 2. Barr voted according to the GOP mainstream votes in the past. This does not necessarily mean one is a neocons. Many just vote according to party line, without really thinking. But of course also Barr had to do a critical reassessment of his votes and the underlying philosophy since having distance out of congress.
On the war he only voted yes because he thought there were WMD. I heard as soon as he found out 4 months later there were no WMD, he changed his mind.

He has been very active with good press releases lately. Yes, apart from Dr. Paul he is the best choice. He is very articulate as well. The better results he achieve, the more pressure on the GOP after the election to reform. I hope he joins the "Campaign for Liberty" in some formal role after the election. He does not have a plan to be LP presidential candidate in 2012 as well and some anarchists do not like him, but it will also not be easy for him to rejoin the GOP. I hope he can run for senate, governor or congress in 2010 or before to help Dr. Paul.

Yeah

I'll likely vote for Barr. I respect and honor Paul more, but he doesn't appear to be an option at this point. Here's hoping for a miracle...

The thing that upsets me the most is that people WON'T wake up!
Even here we have so much infighting instead of thriving for the same cause. We take sides on christianity, 9-11, Barr, Jews, race, etc.
Ron Paul says that we have to stop putting people in categories, that each person should be viewed as an individual. He has never catered to an ethnic group or a certain belief. He has stood steadfast as a constitutionalist, the CHAMPION OF THE CONSTITUTION. There isn't a day that I don't pray that by some miracle we can get Ron Paul into the whitehouse. (If you don't pray then just replace pray with that I wish with all my heart.)
The saddest part of having taken the pill you can't go back. But maybe, just maybe all that have taken that pill can agree to work toward the cause of making this country great again and stop fighting with the other people that believe in this cause!

Well said. I'm member number

Well said. I'm member number 2713 so I've been here for a while also. I'll be voting for Barr and would donate a few bucks if I had anything left to give.

I gave it my all for RP and wish he would have ran on the LP ticket, but he didn't. Despite all the hopes and wishes in the world, he is not going to get the Republican nomination. Even if McSame dropped dead while kissing the Bush's ass in Macy window on 5th Ave, the Repubs will never nominate our guy. Its more likely aliens will land out in front of the convention to say hi, than they will nominate him. Its more likely I will get the nomination. Its more likely that Congress will vote to do away with the IRS next month. Its more likely that I will live to be 500. In other words, its not going to happen nope, no, no way. Wishing it will is nice, but doesn't change reality.
