New to the DailyPaul...

I just wanted to drop by and say that I watched your November 5 video and was blown away! It was inspirational, smart, and a great way for others to see what a great group of people the Ron supporters seem to be.

I like your energy. I don't agree with everything Ron Paul says (I'm a liberal Democrat), but I think Paul is sincere and I think he (or Kuscinich - sp?) are among the only two candidates likely to administer the shock to our nation that it needs to regain it's balance.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I had no idea how extensive the Paul network was. I thought it was just a few people at scattered meetups :-) I'll be back to visit.

Thanks Billy Joe

Thanks for your comment! Every day more and more people are discovering Ron Paul and the fact that his supporters aren't just internet spam bots.

Many liberal Democrats are finding views in common with Dr. Paul. Everyone can get behind the message of liberty and freedom. Let us know where you disagree with Dr. Paul and maybe we can help explain why he holds those views. For example, one often misunderstood topic is Dr. Paul's goal of eliminating the Department of Education. Of course Dr. Paul wants our children to get a good education -- that's why he feels education should be managed by the individual states. Getting the federal government involved just adds a huge, wasteful layer of bureaucracy.

If you come back to see this...

An area I disagree with Paul is that I support National Health care.

I just wrote a reply to another, less open-minded, Paul supporter. I'm not sure if you can see my comments, but I explained that I live in Japan and participate in their national health care scheme and like it. I also gave a brief explanation about it. When it comes to national health care, there's more than 1 way to implement it; it should not be dismissed as 'socialism' or 'socialized medicine'.

In fact, if we had universal health care, you would unleash American creativity and business because people would no longer have to stick around in a job they don't like just to get insurance. They could start their own company, etc.

Ironically - and I think this gets lost in the 'socialized medicine' debate - national health care would increase freedom and mobility. Ironically, we could also probably save money (Japan spends approx. 50% less on health care than the US spends, for example).

Interesting

As a physician, I'm sure Dr. Paul has personal feelings about health care, but I believe his main opposition to national health care is that the federal government simply has not been given the authority to control or manage health care in the U.S.

If a constitutional amendment were passed authorizing Congress to do so, I'm sure Ron Paul would not dispute the legality of a national health care system (though he might still oppose it for personal reasons). He's a stickler for obeying the law to the letter.

Out of curiosity, how would you feel about state-run health care? Certainly experience tells us that - in the U.S. at least - things are run much more efficiently at lower levels of government than at the federal level.

National health care

First off, I just noticed that Glenn Greenwald (from Salon) has posted a very favorable, even-handed post about Ron Paul. You might find it a good read:

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/

Greenwald makes the points you make in your reply to me and that's fair enough that it's simply not covered by the Constitution and that we'd need to amend the Constitution if we wanted to have Nat'l Health Care.

Regarding state-run health care, the evidence suggests that it's not optimal. For example you lose the economies of scale that could be used to drive down the cost of medicines. It would be somewhat better than the hodge-podge of corruption that is Medicare Part D (?) which basically throws consumers to the pharmaceutical wolves and taxpayers get fleeced in the process, but the way to reduce costs is to allow the Federal Gov't to negotiate directly with the firms and use their massive buying power to get us a good deal. The VA already does it. In Japan, the government negotiates directly with the pharmaceutical firms and medications are cheaper. And wouldn't you know it? The pharmaceutical firms haven't packed up and taken their toys home - they actually have large operations here.

National health care doesn't mean everything is covered. For example, in Japan, abortions aren't covered. Nor is viagra or dental braces. I don't think exotic procedures (brain surgery?) are covered either. For those things, you have to pay out of pocket. But national health care pays between 70~90% of those things that are allowed and it's financed in a similar manner to social security in the US (a sliding scale, based on income, and it tops out when a person makes $100,000/year or more). Everyone is legally required to enroll and, depending on your income, it costs between $50~$1,000/month (same price if you're single or have a family). On the other hand, everyone is covered no matter what. It's a good deal, I think. I wish Americans actually bothered to learn how it works. I'm not sure if you're a Michael Moore hater or not, but Sicko did a good job of illustrating how it works in other countries, as well as the different services they have chose to offer. Health care is such a huge industry there are probably an infinite # of ways you could deliver national health care. I've heard Germany actually uses private insurers, like the US. The talk about 'Socialism' only serves to keep Americans ignorant, unfortunately.

There's an article at the link below that does a better job than I can in explaining why state-based systems don't work very well:

IF PEOPLE SPLURGE ON THE WEST COAST RIGHT BEFORE 12PM WE HIT 5 M

WE WILL HIT $5 MILLION IN ONE DAY IF THE WEST COAST CONTINUES TO SPLURGE.... THEY MAY HIT US HEAVY LIKE WE DID ON THE EAST COST, CENTRAL TIME, MOUNTAIN TIME, ETC...
I dont think the day should be considered over yet... til 12 pm pacific time
just like ON ELECTION DAY...

WERE STILL PULLING IN $1000 A MINUTE

HELLO- CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME??? We are still going up about $1000 a minute - I dont think these donations should be discounted - according to people on the west coast STILL DONATING its 10:50 pm NOVEMBER 5TH......

Every brain needs some rest

You're absolutely right about the donations continuing at a clip that, before today, would have been viewed as very impressive (remember then $450 in 3 days for a radio ad was a difficult target, way back a couple of weeks ago?). A lot of us spent the entire day online, and need a mental rest while the reinforcements come in. Keep donating folks: it is still money that the campaign will use productively, and we still have goals for the month and quarter.

I DONT THINK THIS DAY SHOULD BE CONSIDERED OVER YET!

Hey folks, technically its not 12pm pacific time - MONEY IS STILL FLOWING IN RAPIDLY.... I do not think anyone OFFICALLY set a cut off time at 12 pm eastern.... like ELECTION DAY TIME ZONES are still considered i.e. every time zone closes off their election days at 7pm - I think people on the west coast are still pumping in money like mad...
I know some may argue 24 hours is one day, but heck on election days 24 hours is NOT 24 hours... its when the polls close.
Anyone have any thoughts about this- I dont think its fair to west coast donors who wanted to money bomb at the last minute i.e. 12am pacific coast time...

Amazing.

amazing, everyone. I really am proud of this, in a very personal way.

Can you imagine Ron Paul right now.

Probably asleep, but I cant wait until he wakes up. I would love to see the look on his face. He has been talking his message for so long with no recognition. Go Ron Paul!!!!!!!!

FOX DID

Fox did a blurb saying it was a record and that he bested Romney, right during the replay of O'Reilly at around 11:47 ET.

The next money bomb:

Based on the numbers from ronpaulgraphs.com

which I assume are correct, it looks like we hit $3,996,548 at midnight and reached $4 million about 3 minutes later.

Hated to give him the

Hated to give him the traffic, but I had to go to Huck-a-BOOs site to check his donations.I checked it earlier today and he had raised $2000. When I just went back they had removed his donation counter from the site. Haaaaaaaaa, Haaaaaaa.
Also checked the comments and found this.
"Folks while we have raised a few thousand dollars today, Paul's supporters raised over 2 million, in the same day. They are serious."
Bet they really know we're serious since we've raised over $4 million

There is no stopping this...

There is no stopping this... the 20-40 Million in media coverage over the next 3 days will garner at least another 10 mil.... Lets keep going.. For those of us that are maxed-out, we must spread the word everywere. I have to go to the corner store after benton gets off the radio. I will bring slim jims with me..

Thank you

God Bless everyone who gave today. This should energize all of us. I know it energized our family. We still need to turn this into votes, so continue to talk and persuade all Americans. We can do this and save our Republic. I spoke with my Dad tonight and he was very excited and will continue to work hard for all of us. The Paul family is proud to be a part of this campaign.
Robert Paul

all y'all are the best, Mr. Paul

What a terrific family. I couldn't be happier to be supporting not only the good Doc but also his excellent clan. Knowing you guys are all around him as his *real* "base" gives me tremendous confidence in our selection. Thanks for your post and all that you do, not least the simple act of loaning us your dynamite dad for a few years. :-)

Yes, we need to use this energy to get the word out to *ALL* voters in the early primary states, and to put our people in place within the GOP in every state, so we're ready for the votes to start rolling in. I believe we are on course to do this; my group here in Salem is growing and people are getting excited.

West Coast keep us going!!

We can make it to $4.5M if we just look at a 24 hr pacific time day!

Wow

Look at that... over 7 mil this quarter and a new republican donation record. Way to go everyone. With about 5 minutes left can we get to 4 mil today?

Ron Paul.. The New 7 Million Dollar Man

Staring Ron Paul as representative of the Republic!!!

oops

dupicate

It's going to be close

I was just doing some math, and it looks like if we stay at this rate of growth we'll BARELY miss the $4 million mark (3,937,555 to be exact). I suppose it'll be important whether the offline money "counts" toward the total. The media seems to be focusing on online fundraising only.

On the other hand, the slope seems to be turning slightly up right now, so maybe we'll eek out the $4mil at the last minute.

Already did

at 11:33 Eastern time the donations are already over 4.2 mil for Nov 5th

The numbers

I have a screenshot of ronpaul2008.com at november 4th 11:54 pm est. it says $2,778,823.08. At 11:25 pm ronpaul2008.com said $6,964,008.59. That would mean we have raised $4,185,185.51.

That includes..

the approximately $300k in 'offline' donations that the campaign added this morning. It seems they do that weekly. I'm using the numbers from ronpaulgraphs.com, which do not include that offline money.

By the way, the numbers do seem to be turning slightly upwards at the end. Extrapolating to midnight now gives $3,995,307.47. It'll be very interesting to see which side of $4 million we land on.

Money Processing

Hey... I saw it pointed out earlier that the line was very straight on the graph, and that it was rather unlikely that our donations were so very constant throughout the day. Could it be that there are more, perhaps far more donations than are showing up? Can anyone check the maximum number of donations the servers can process per, say, hour, and compare that to how many have been processed?

Wouldn't it be a pleasant surprise if...

Wouldn't it be a pleasant surprise if these donations continued throughout the day tomorrow?

I read that earlier mention of the straight line as well, and also find it odd. It's too linear to be natural, a credit card processor's load throttling mechanism very well could be in play here. We've been seeing around 300k/hr., so as long as the contributions keep coming in at that rate they should be attributable to todays Money Bomb.

Feel the Pride of being a part of history!!!

I just donated my $100 and felt it worth my while to share this experience with anyone who is a Ron Paul fan, but is a little strapped for cash like me.

I've never donated a dime to a political cause, never checked the contribution box on my tax forms, etc. I've been voting since 1979 and have always voted pro-life, so I've always voted Republican. Even though I voted for him twice, I do believe that George Bush has been the worst president in our history and the Iraq War has been the biggest foreign policy mistake we've ever made. We're in bad shape and the media is in bed with the corrupt politicians and lobbyists who represent big business.

This donation is a salvo aimed at the liars and deceivers in mass media who care nothing about this country or about the truth. They are traitors and prostitutes in my book. By the same token, most of the people running for president are doing it for their own glory and egos. They will sell out if they think it's to their benefit. (Giuliani has alluded that he would consider Huckabee to be VP in order to gain credibility among religious right voters. Watch Huckabee accept the invite once he withdraws from the race.)

Anyway, if you're here on this site, you probably are cheering Ron Paul on and wishing him the best. I would like to challenge you to join us in boosting the total tonight as high as possible. We are making history--don't miss out! Be a part of this "memorable" day and join in the pride of this great milestone in the campaign of this generation's Thomas Jefferson.

Tip: After you donate, your name will show up within 5 minutes in the recent donor graphic!! Take a screen capture by doing alt-print screen and then pasting into Paint or Word. Then, you can save or email to friends.

Proud of everyone.

Hello. My name is Chuck. I am so proud of all of you. No matter what the news says about who Ron Paul supporters are I know they are a very diverse group of people. We all have our diffrences and thats what freedom is about. I dont agree with everyone here. Most people where I live would look down on me for being an atheist. I am a single father of an 8 year old boy. I am 34 years old and have never voted in my life. I have registered to vote in Tennessee.

The media likes to throw these low polls in everyones face, but that dosent bother me. They do their polls by people who have voted before I suppose. Here is a list of people that are going to vote with me that have never voted in their life.

1: Chuck: Me, 34 years old.
2 Jane: My mother, 51 years old.
3 Tim: Stepfather, 47 years old.
4 Toby: Brother, 31 years old.
5 Josh: Brother, 29 years old
6 Cory: Brother, 28 years old
7 Sheree: Sister, 27 years old
8 Jennifer (Joshes Wife): Sister in law, 32 years old.
9 Steve: Father, 56 years old.

This is why I know Ron Paul can win. These are all people that have never voted in their life. They are all going to vote for Ron Paul with me. I donated $300 today and will keep donating. I am not a rich man but I will stand and fight for my freedom. My sons freedom. I will not have my son die in a needless war. Thats just one reason I vote for Ron Paul.

Needless to say I think Washington is in for a surprise. I dont think they are accounting the people who have never voted. We are a waking nation. I feel like there are many others like me. Something they dont expect. Just look at that counter go up and think. These are Americans that are waking up and taking a stand for freedom. Thank you everyone.

Ron Paul My next president!!!!!!

wow!

Montana, right up there with NH. I had no clue...
http://ronpaulgraphs.com/donors.html

any reason there's so much support up there? Or are Montanans (is that a word?) just extremely generous?

either way, awesome! :)
keep up the good work everyone!!!

Someone correct me if I'm

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Montana was actually a close 2nd to New Hampshire as the site for the Free State Project. If that's true, it would makes sense to me that there is a 'strong' libertarian sense there as well.

I am unable to contain my

I am unable to contain my joy! Yes, we Montanans do cherish our liberties and we are not shy about that. Two examples that immediately come to mind...we adopted a speed limit of 75 when we were threatened with losing our federal highway funding (our speed limit up until then had been what would be considered a reasonable and prudent speed). Rumor has it that it was people who visited us that abused this "limit", not those of us that live here...with the odd exception, of course. Also, in April 2007, we were one of the first states to tell the current administration that we would Not be getting National ID's. All that aside, I went canvassing today in the mostly rural community I live in. Not one of the people I spoke to had heard of Ron Paul. At the end of the day, one person loaded up on campaign materials, 4 people said they would Definitely vote for Dr. Paul, and the rest wanted to check him out for themselves but certainly showed a high level of interest. Every person thanked me for telling them about him. Keep in mind, there are probably more people in a single major city neighborhood than there are in this whole huge valley. I am Very encouraged by the responses I got. Look for us to have a stronger and stronger albeit small by city standards presence in the campaign as more time goes by.

The Last Time Zone to Donate

If I have counted correctly, moneybomb donations should be accepted until 7am EST on Nov 6. That is when midnight of Nov 5 crosses the International Date Line. Or, is the 24 hour clock for donations set on a different time zone? Will someone please confirm this?

The Nov 5th donations should end at 12:00 eastern time, 11:00 Central and 9:00 pacific time. But I'm sure that the total will continue to go up because of central and pacific times. It's already over 4 mil for the 5th :)

well over 200,000 dollars

this based on the face he sent out a message saying we've raise over 3.8mil today, but at the time the message went out RonPaulGraphs.com showed us raising just under 3.6 mil

You guys remember...
