Ron Paul now a fruitcake

Can some of you more accomplished writers please help me set this idiot straight? This is my hometown paper so it is a little personal.

ERRATA: Blade wrong, while bashing Libertarians again

Dear Editor Sharp,

Once again, the Blade is gratuitously bashing Libertarians, and is getting its facts wrong in the process.

This time, it's columnist Jack Kelly, referring to Republican Ron Paul as a "Libertarian fruitcake" who can beat Hillary Clinton. I have a problem with Kelly using the term Libertarian as an epithet. I have an even bigger problem when Dr. Paul is not a Libertarian, but a Republican.

Mr. Kelly spouts further nonsense when he says that Ron Paul will run next year as a Libertarian Party candidate. Ron Paul will not. He's said so very publicly and he's a man of his word. And he has far too much going for him as a Republican candidate.

Once again, you've falsely called a Republican a Libertarian. You didn't run a retraction last time. Will you this time?

If the lower-case "l" is used, "libertarian" refers to a school of political thought rather than a party.

It's a sign of a broken system when concepts like the rule of law and government subject to the rule of law are thought to be outside the mainstream.

And it's absurd that a man of such high intellect and consistent principle, with a perfect record of upholding the Constitution, is maligned thus.

...But I like my fruitcake with nuts...

Dear Mr. Kelly,

your journalism is really hackish commentary.

when you call Ron Paul a fruitcake, you call his message fruity.

that tells me alot about you, and emboldens my confidence of my judgement in the candidates.

I wonder why MSM perceives that we're everywhere?

BECAUSE WE ARE EVERYWHERE

And for you to imply thatl most of Americans are fruitcakes just goes to show people how divisive and un-American you are.

Take some responsibility and report. Period.

Now that you've posted your response in the appropriate thread, you can delete the other for the sake of economy. Just a suggestion, since you seem new...

Fruitcake

For a man with a good Irish name like "Kelly" I'm surprised you can be so ignorant of the fact that Ron Paul is a man of principle and integrity; not a "FruitCake" as you depicted him to be in your news article. The fact that he has been ignored and bashed by the main stream media and still gaining tremendous support and popularity from the little man in the street, and not the Big Corporations, is a sign that he has a unique message of liberty and freedom that resonating with a hugh amount of the American public. I would suggest you take another "unbiased" look at Ron Paul and see that he certainly is NOT a fruitcake. Thank you for your time. (My Reply sent to Mr. Kelly)

Dammit

Dammit! STOP linking to these anti-Paul clowns. Stop giving these a-holes web traffic. Whatsamattau? They wouldn't get any traffic at all if it wasn't for Paul supporters locking horns with everyone making a negative comment.

"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." Samuel Adams

“Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information and religions destroy spirituality”

We're all guilty of it...

Every new Ron Paul supporter feels the urge to defend their hero when some blowhard commentary or blogster talks poop. It's a natural reaction.

And of course, it only takes about two weeks to get it out of our systems and realize that feeding into their negative press just adds more fuel to the fire.

However, I take it as a good sign when I read posts like this. It just means that all the new Ron Paul supporters are just as devoted as I am/was in the beginning. There's nothing wrong with it.

Spending time constructively should be the main focus of RP supporters, but I guess it starts on the internet defending the honor of our fave candidate.

I'd like to see more home made Ron Paul signs in peoples' yards and less bickering in the forums. Whateva.

Kudo's

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you

I don't know...

I think it helps when other people see these bozos get the discredit they deserve... It's not about converting the hostile journalist into a supporter. It's about getting the people who surround them to take a look for themselves. It's also pretty cool to see them cowering in fear on TV ala Tim Russert.

I agree...We need to let them know we are watching

They may even act responsible! But more importantly they will know each time they make a statement about Paul they'll think first... the first step in changing a problem is recognizing you have a problem. If these people are weasles...they'll want to stay in the dark...if they keep it up...eventually someone will say something to them in person and they'll really start to think....Plus everytime they see a Ron Paul sign...they'll have to cringe a little!

My reply

I bet Dr Paul would win against Hillary. As far as your name calling is concerned, I wish you would be more respectful, especially when Ron Paul carries himself in a non attack manner. As someone who is supposed to be a journalist reporting facts, I'm sure you weren't taught in school to spread hate and insults.

Thanks Tim

Paul is the only candidate

Paul is the only candidate who has a chance against Clinton. The other Republicans would be extremely lucky to eke out a slim margin over her. If I had to bet on a Clinton/Guliani race, I'd put all my money on Clinton. The reverse would be true for Clinton/Paul; she would be lucky if he didn't win by landslide. It would look like this:

Clinton: Made a mockery of the Constitution every time she stepped into the Senate chambers.

Paul: Fought to uphold the Constitution against overwhelming odds every time he walked onto the House floor.

Both statements are factual and demonstrable. Now pick one.

Use time wisely

I don't email negative journalists anymore, it's a waste of time and energy and instead, I email those like Jay Leno and CNN's Cooper 360 thanking them for allowing Ron Paul to voice his views. We really need to focus on the positive people because they are the ones getting Ron Paul's message out to millions, not small town papers or radical media. Every day Dr Paul's views get out to millions of people and we have so little time left. Stay positive!

Here's mine (to the VP/Exec. Editor)

Mr Royhab:
I write to question the Blade's decision to carry Jack Kelly's most recent column titled 'Hillary's in Trouble'. While Mr. Kelly certainly has a right to his views, I think the Blade sets a poor standard by choosing to print a column which contains base name-calling. Are words like 'fruitcake' and 'moonbat' anything other than insults? The Blade can surely print whatever its staff pleases, but if the paper wishes to be taken seriously I think it must exercise a modicum of decorum. Thank you.

Just sent this letter

Here's the text of a letter I just sent in response to the Jack Kelly piece:
-----------------------------------------
Jack Kelly put the fruitcake label on the wrong candidate.

Only a fruitcake would commit US troops to invade a country that posed no threat to us. Even when everyone thought Iraq had WMDs, there was no evidence that Saddam had a way to deliver them to the US.

Only a fruitcake would continue such a conflict over a period of years despite opposition from most Americans and most of the Iraqis we are trying to help.

Only a fruitcake would continue to drain the US Treasury for such an unnecessary effort, threatening bankruptcy should China, Japan, Saudi Arabia and other countries decide to stop buying US Treasuries. Some already are buying euros instead, and the Federal Reserve continues its inflationary ways by printing more money -- $41 billion on Thursday alone. *

The fruitcakes, to me, are those who belittle or ignore Ron Paul and his message. Among candidates in both major parties, only Dr. Paul offers a path to Constitutional principles capable of restoring our Republic before it goes broke.

Good Reply!

That is exactly how Dr. Paul answered Soledad when she suggested "others" thought he is a flake.

I was weak..

I am in weakened condition today which is my excuse for responding thusly:

You are shilling for Rudy Giuliani who married his cousin, cross-dresses, and cheated on his wife in public and you're calling RON a fruitcake?

ha ha, Jane!

You go get em! Great response. Maybe you should be in a "weakened condition" more often. We are in a different stage of the game so I think the rules have changed a little bit.

he really???

he really married his own cousin??? ewwwwww

Found this in a 2003 BBC report

"Mr Giuliani's first marriage to his second cousin, Regina Peruggi, lasted about 14 years and was annulled by the Roman Catholic Church because the pair had not obtained the special dispensation needed for them to be allowed to wed."

Wrote an explanatory email that Moonbats would hate us

I wrote to show that the idea that we are a bunch of liberals is very dangerous should that mean that no Republicans take heed of the message. I pointed out some things:

1) Nobody is afraid to condemn Hillary as a shrill feminist socialist on Ron Paul blogs. I noted that migrant Moonbats would start screaming if there were many of them among us.

2) I also noted that there is a serious concentration of pro-war servicepeople and veterans for Ron Paul. I explained that we simply ignore his anti-war message because the Iraq War has passed its danger point and is now just dragging on. I believe some troops should stay another 5 years or even 50 years as in Germany but I don't care so much that I would not want RP elected. It is just not an issue for us one way or the other.

3) I noted that Moonbats would not want to leave the UN, would espouse global warming and environmental agencies and want to increase taxes.

I forget what else I wrote but I think I gave him something to think about before he shoots from the hip next time around.

Hi Veterans Abroad -

Is that true? You would like to see some troops stay in for another 5 or 50 years? This is one of Dr. Paul's positions that I love. I am not a vet or military person though so I am wondering why you hold this view? Can you inform me as to the other side of the argument? What would be the benefit of doing this?

I occupied Germany 40 Years After WW2

Hi LA Cole,

Again, the issue of Iraq is not important enough for me to consider not voting for Ron Paul. I agree with him on his domestic policies and his foreign policy, going forward, is probably what we need to save $Trillions.

Check out www.strategypage.com for some interesting commentary.

For young Americans who serve, the experience of serving overseas is amazing as we learn the languages and become unofficial ambassadors as we later do business in those regions while speaking the languages.

But the huge cost of maintaining lots of troops has to be cut.

I don't see any reason for our troops to be in Korea anymore.

But most Europeans and Germans wanted American soldiers in Germany for about 45 years and I think it is important that there is still a US airbase in Germany. I recall lots of Germans being happy that the US was keeping their local economies humming because of the business.

I can see a really low-footprint US base in the Iraqi desert that is seen as an economic boom to a depressed region there...something the locals very much want because of the money.

But we need to slash billions off the cost of all this. The scale really has to be wound down.

is it lunch yet?

Ron Paul told me

to "campaign hard, but have a little fun too". Just taking a little break from the serious blogging and temper raising articles.

The Fruitcake song is not a singing fruitcake ginger. It's a Jimmy Buffett video. Maybe you should have watched it and listened to the words before implying I am some kind of retarded person.
