Why are cops such pricks?- Here's one answer

0 votes

We tend to see many videos where there is police brutality taking place. I think that's a little unfair.

First and foremost I am not a cop, nor do I want to be a cop. Actually, I try to stay away from cops. I assume that they train by seeing videos like this. These are some of the animals they deal with out there. It's no reason why some of them are on edge all the time.

I just wanted to share this video so we can get a more balanced look at what the risks of being a cop are. Yes there are crooked cops, but most cops are really just trying to protect society.

they train by seeing videos like this

it called not following procedure!

that was not smart, right off the bat i could tell the killers body language was negative even though i did not understand a word he said. his voice tonality was also very telling.

ya know... after reading

ya know... after reading threw these threads it seems to me no one see's any fault in that cold blooded murderer who killed those 2 police officers.. evidently the cops were there arresting someone who was shop lifting...
called by the owner doing there job.. what did thse 2 cops do that is wrong that they deserved to have there heads blown off! wake up folks it goes both ways! the only thing I regret is that I was not there to help the cops.. this was a brutal murder of 2 police officers and nobody seems to care! but I guess the shop lifter should be able to go ahead and steal?

I'm sure most of us think

that the murderer ought to receive a swiftly executed death penalty, but no one is stating the obvious. Threads often take unexpected twists and turns that are often full of good opinions and valuable information, even though slightly off-topic.

maybe we are

6 degrees from separation. LOL
There was an old saying, there are no atheists in foxholes.
It appears people are not able to separate the A- good cop from B- bad cop. We have to realize that people do this with everything. Listen to people talk. Woman who hate ALL men. Men who hate ALL women. People who HATE Doctors. People who HATE all Lawyers. Their brains cannot stop and say SOME, I think they are looking for impact. If we had a bad experience that makes it even worse.

Everything is the most or least, all or nothing. I had the best day or the worst day. There is no middle ground. It really does take practice to keep from falling into this pattern. When I find myself doing it or going along with such talk I try to make a mental note to stop it. I don't think it is healthy, personally. Just my 2 cents. Peace

If people think

these cops are bad wait till marshal law starts and these guys are replaced with troops who don't even speak English. They will come from other countries that don't like us. I wonder what the push on condemning cops right now. Could it have something to do with St. Paul, don't you think they will use what we say to fire the cops up. The Police organization endorsed Dr. Paul a while back because he supported them. The troops send money, they support Dr. Paul but we keep getting threads that want to start a division and I am starting to think it is on purpose.

Stop and think, Dr. Paul is a peaceful man they can't get him ticked off, but hey, we are a different story. Show the cops we are assholes and we will be treated as such. I am not saying we should bend over but tell me how exactly it helps to turn them away. For all the videos that show bad cops I am sure there are just as many stories about good ones. Everyone who has a job knows what it is to be pressured to do what you don't want because it is expected.

Ok, at some point these officers will have to make a choice. Let's find ways of reaching them in a positive gesture. So when TSHTF we are all on the same page. Hmmmm Peace

there is no excuse for

there is no excuse for police or any government officails to violate the people they serve. These criminals did a terrible thing, thats no reason to punish others. These criminals need to be held accountable to the full extent of the law.
Telling me we need to be understanding of police who violate our rights is the same strategy as selling us in to Iraq.
We need to hold criminals accountable and government needs to protect peoples rights.

I thought this was going to be one of those stereotyping ...

Good post.

We all are individuals and we all have our roles.

The Govt. has been shipping drugs into this country for decades.

The cops are the ones who have to clean up the mess. I do not envy their job.
But I also don't have sympathy for them if they can't do a little research to see the truth.

The people I knew who grew

The people I knew who grew up to become cops ranged from the average intelligence small guy who became a workout warrior, the kid who did cocaine and went of the map for 4 years and the biggest numskull I knew. That said, there are a number of good cops in the police force, as evidenced by those that would honk with a thumbs up when I stood outside with a Ron Paul sign (and even a number for 9/11 truth in the past two years, never mix the two).

If we are trying to explain why many cops tend to be pricks, I think we need to include the Stanford Prison Experiment in the discussion.

Jerks and Bullies...

...are probably over-represented in the law enforcement population simply because power draws corruption to it.

SOME people are motivated by a sense of justice or a desire to serve or promote social order, and THEY often become fine officers, but I fear too many just want to push around their neighbors and hide behind a badge.

Okay, so for every cop that

Okay, so for every cop that gets hurt on the job, tens of thousands of us have to suffer for it because these people answer to no one and figure that every one of us now is out to get them. Let me ask this: How many of you folks feel just fine about seeing that red light in your mirror and are just fine with a cop standing in front of you while another one walks around behind? Huh? Just place your replies here.

There are many cops that don't deserve the reputation. The bad cops need to be weeded out. It is our tolerance level today that is at fault.

the nature of the job

Fortune Favors the Bold

when you work under the premise that you need to use pre-emptive coercive force to ensure the good of all, it has both a corrupting spiritual effect, and an attraction for those who see such as a means to safely fulfill violent desires.

Fortune Favors the Bold

In Britain, the answer is simple...

Targets. Its all about the way police "performance" is measured.

In the 1980's there were race riots in London and Liverpool. Beat cops had been told, off the record, by their superiors to "go after the blacks." And they set about their task with great zeal.

In the late 1990's things changed dramatically, when "cleared cases" became the watchword. Trivial offences that were easy to detect, prosecute and convict on became the priority. Anything awkward and difficult like robbery, burglary, serious assault or homocide got left behind.

Hardly surprising then, that there has been a 21st century explosion in British crime. In major urban areas most people either don't bother reporting crimes or are actually afraid to do so. The criminals rule the streets after dark.

The government is more interested in massaging statistics and pretending that everything is fine than they are in actually fixing the problem.

you have to realize that it

you have to realize that it is the city of irving who makes the laws who tells the cops what they can arrest someone for!

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

It's not so much the state

It's not so much the state troopers and sheriffs I have a problem with as I've had very positive encounters with both, even when they are giving me a ticket. It's the city pigs I have the problem with.

Those are the ones that give all cops a bad name. I live in Pelham, Alabama and we call the cops around here the "Pelham Nazis". That name has stuck because most of them are young asshole cops that think they are above the law and can do whatever they want. I've never had a good experience when dealing with them.

I've purposely avoided the roadblocks they set up at night and go around so I do not have to deal with them. I do wonder sometimes whether the roadblocks and ID checks are even legal. I've not been able to find anything on it in my searches.

Hey man...

I live in Pelham, AL too!! That's crazy. And yes, the Pelham cops suck.

But I have to disagree with you... somewhat.

I used to have respect for the Sheriffs myself, until I got pulled over by a couple the other day. They were nice enough at first and even gave me a warning for my bad turn signal... then they asked me to step out of my vehicle and asked my permission to search it. I refused because I know my rights, and the next thing you know they're going around my car with a drug dog.

I didn't do anything wrong other than the bad turn signal, it was during the middle of the day, and I'm a clean cut guy who wouldn't look suspicious or anything, but they still wanted to invade my privacy. I gave them a good earful about how I felt about them and our out of control federal government. I was cooperative and polite the entire time until they asked if they could violate my rights... that made me more than a little upset.

The dog found nothing and they let me go without a search, but this is the second time this has happened to me on Hwy 119. The previous time it was the Pelham cops.

I don't trust any of them any longer.

We need to keep in touch, btw.

Thanks, your right

we can't lump everyone together. I remember going to a Ron Paul rally and a state trooper was there with his two little girls. He kept telling everyone that we had to get Dr. Paul elected. This man knew stuff, he was almost pleading with us. I was new to the movement and thought wow, this is unusual. Now, I understand how he felt. Wouldn't it be great if we could judge people by their actions rather than group and all the other stuff. I don't see it happening though. Peace

Nope. You pretty much summed it up.

100% correct.

Cops are my enemy

Cops are part of the problem. They are corrupt and drunk on power as a rule.
I have only met one cop in my life who I felt comfortable being around. I was at a party once and a man (friend of my friend) revealed he was a cop and started bragging about how much power he had and he said and I quote, "I am the law." I was appalled. Never said a word to the guy. I just left. Cops think they
can do whatever they want and arrest anyone they choose for any reason.
They have way to much unchecked power imho. I refuse to associate with or be around them. I will not talk to them.
I have a gun in my house and my vehicle. I don't need to be protected. As far as I am concerned the cops pose a much greater threat to my family and I than other people who might be criminals.

so 2 cops being murdered in

so 2 cops being murdered in cold blood in that video is ok with you!?

as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

What video?

Don't know what video you are talking about. I believe murder is wrong period.
Murderers should answer to man's laws just as they will to God's laws.
However the life of a cop is of no more value than anybody elses and more serious
punishment for killing a cop is wrong, imho. They take a job of their own free will, accept compensation which is basically stolen from me at gunpoint in the form of taxes knowing full well the risks they face.
I feel no more sorrow when a cop is murdered than any other person. At least the cop
was presumably armed and capable of self defense. Not so many others who are deprived of their right to defend their own life usually through complying with some
unconstitutional law.
