Warm Fuzzies vs. Furthuring our cause: Why you should NOT write in Paul.
I would love nothing more than to vote for my idol and teacher. However, can you please understand that more important than the man who rallied us together, more important than the man who taught us, is the philosophy he rallied us around.
Liberty, my friends, liberty.
Writing in Paul will do nothing. The vote will not be counted. It might make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, but it will do nothing for the cause. Voters will not hear the message or take note of it anymore.
However, if the Libertarian or Constitution parties take a chunk of the vote people may start to ask "Who are these people and what do they stand for?"
Research the people still running on a platform of liberty and make your own independent decision.
Please help the cause and help yourself. We need to further educate this country. We need attention. We dont need to feel good about ourselves.
Anyone on this board, who worked for Paul, who knows that they are fighting for, should already feel great about what they are doing.

Frankly I am not that
Frankly I am not that worried about the presidential election except to support our delegates at the RNC. I am busy working to change my local and state party and we are making significant headway. That is where the rubber meets the road.
Any vote for president at this point looks to be largely symbolic so for now I will vote for the real thing with a real record and the best representative of our ideals not a wannabe clone riding the coat tails of Dr. Paul!

Just hoping for elections at this point!
Although, I have voted Libertarian, Constitutionalist, what have you, my entire life. I even voted for the odd Republican, and I caught on to Bush in time to vote for Kerry - I caught on to Kerry too late. Thankfully Kerry did not win so no harm, no foul... If the power elite have their way, and a Obama / McCain "race" is provided for our entertainment, all is lost on the political front. I will not vote for another puppet, and I will not "waste" my vote on someone to make a statement that will fall on deaf ears. As long as corruption reigns in the "two" parties, no third party will ever accomplish anything.
I will write in Ron Paul, as I have to take responsibility for my actions. I do not trust Bob Barr, and I find Chuck Baldwin a bit too fuzzy on the "separation of church and state" concept for my liking.
Furthermore, if the third parties would have joined the Republicans, as Dr. Pual asked way back when, we would be having a very different discussion now. Maybe others feel "warm and fuzzy" but I will never join the LP or Constitution party at this point, and will be very slow to support their candidates. They had the chance to get behind the RIGHT man and the right time, they screwed the pooch. Don't come ask me to change my mind now.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
I can respect that....but this sentence...
"They had the chance to get behind the RIGHT man and the right time, they screwed the pooch. Don't come ask me to change my mind now."
Chuck Baldwin was an avid supporter during the duration of RPs campaign. He worked hard. He worked well.
Many libertarians could have cared less about their own party while Paul was running. They worked hard. They worked well.
I'll wait till September
Dr. Paul will make an announcement and then I'll see where we go from there. I can't wait for the big party, gala, mini-convention, delegate sendoff, super good time September 2 !

I agree with this
I'm not sure that Dr. Paul wants us to focus on anyone right now except the campaign for liberty and St. Paul. He has been completely and utterly ambiguous about endorsements. It leaves us with the dilemma that the other candidates need support right now and all the way to the election in order to put up a good fight.

true
Being true to Dr. Paul by telling the truth or at least my best shot at it, the only thing that will show in terms of votes (and I'm guessing the Dem's win it) after the election is McCain 32%, Obama 40%, Barr 18%, other 10%......and that's if Barr gets in the upper teens. If not they will probably throw him in with "other". A protest vote of a write in will not be reported by any of the media so America as a whole will ignore it. I'm still holding out hope that the delegates could completely revolt, but lets also continue to think about all angles.

Writing in Ron Paul is
Writing in Ron Paul is infinitely wiser than casting a balloted vote for a Marxist or a neo-con.
The very likely outcome of the race is that the only possible winners will be the Marxist and the neo-con. Bob Barr isn't going to win the election, so what constructive purpose is there in voting for him if it doesn't change the outcome of the big race?
This is a year when we should vote our conscience and principles, not make "lesser of two evils" choices.
SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States
Good question and the answer is...
that I will vote third party, even if it will not change the outcome, because it may increase awareness.
If people see the Libertarians or Constitutionalists gain even 5-10% of the vote....there will be eyebrows raised and they will remember us in 2012 when either Mccain or Obama fail...because either of them will.
The RNC hasn't been held yet....
aren't you being a little precipitous???

do you really believe
Its possible to get the Republican nomination, with a suspended campaign, a presumptive nominee, and a party that has long abandoned its principles?
So you recommend voting for a candidate I don't agree with?
Why not recommend we vote for McCain or Obama? Stop trying to tell me what to do. I will vote for the most qualified person, regardless of whether or not YOU think it is a good idea.
No, but
I won't nag you about who and what you are doing if you don't nag us. Peace
Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.
Where did I say any of that?
I am not nagging, I am presenting facts for you to consider.
I am not telling you WHO to vote for, I am telling you WHY writing in Paul will accomplish nothing.
You are not presenting fact, you are presenting an opinion.
Two completely different things.
No, these are facts.
A vote for Paul will not do anything for our cause.
A libertarian/constitutionalist gaining 5% of the vote would cause awareness.
All you are accomplishing, is antagonizing people.
You have a misguided opinion, and you are trying to convince others to be lemmings. Please cease and desist.
please
explain why my opinion is misguided or antagonizing?
Do you think you are original?
We have people constantly, ever since this site started, telling us why a vote for Paul is wasted. A vote for truth, justice and liberty is never wasted. If you want to vote for somebody you don't believe in, fine, do it. I choose to vote for the best qualified person, irregardless of whether they stand a chance of winning or not. As far as I am concerned, Dr. Paul has already won. He has encouraged a lot of people to stand by their convictions. Just because you choose not to, don't try to antagonize others by attempting to convince them to do what YOU want them to do. Now I have to go to work, which is why I will not respond to any more of your comments. I don't want you to mistake my lack of response for submission to your will.
Did I ever say that?
First off, I never said it was wasted. I said it wouldnt further our cause...
Then you throw out this nugget.
"encouraged a lot of people to stand by their convictions. Just because you choose not to, don't try to antagonize others by attempting to convince them to do what YOU want them to do."
How am I not standing by my convictions? I will vote for liberty candidate although I am not sure who yet.
In response to the second accusation...if you think that debate on the best course for our movement is equal to antagonization.....then you sir are the one who should be ignored.
