~Democrats Say Ron Paul VP~

here is what I found surfing the net.

Now that Hillary appears to be out of the picture and Barack Obama has turned his attention to defeating John McCain, it's time to start contemplating who Obama should pick as his Vice President.

I'll cut to the chase. While many people are pining for Hillary (she wouldn't' take it if offered and Obama would be out of his mind to offer it), Joe Biden (not a bad choice, at least he calls out Republicans for the corrupt bastards they are), or any of the other soon to be political V.P. flavor of the month, there's another intriguing choice.

Ron Paul.

Here me out. While Ron Paul is a Republican and former Libertarian, he has more in common with Libertarians than the current Republican Party platform of tax cuts for the rich, tax cuts for companies outsourcing U.S. jobs, perpetual wars, spying on American citizens, etc.

Furthermore, Libertarians have much more in common with Democrats than Republicans. The main difference is that the Democratic Party has historically championed larger government through social programs. The Libertarian Party believes in smaller government and protecting personal freedoms. But times have changed and Barack Obama is a different kind of Democrat. While Bush, McCain, and even Hillary have pushed for ignoring or destroying the parts of the Constitution they do not like, Obama's stance is much closer to that of a Libertarian. He's for protecting individual rights and not spying on citizens.

Paul has much more in common with Barack Obama than his current Republican Party. Both Obama and Paul want to bring about drastic changes in Washington. They both want to end the Iraq war, want a smaller government with balanced budgets, fix the health care problem, end lobbyist control, eliminate pork and earmarking, etc.

Their solutions can deviate wildly from one another, but one thing Obama and Paul both share is a passion for this country. Unlike Hillary, who says we need to "be real" when we discuss our hopes for the future then says everything will be great if she is elected, Obama and Paul have both been honest when discussing our future. They both are candid about the problems facing us, and that the issues will get worse in the foreseeable future. We need someone like that who has a plan to fix things and won't bury their head in the sand claiming things are great. And while John McCain says "there will be many more wars, my friends, many more wars", and that talking to Iran is "giving in to terrorists", both Obama and Paul want to avoid an Iran war, while McCain and Hillary have both openly said they are in favor of war with Iran. Paul doesn't even want us to have troops overseas, period. Obama wants our troops out of Iraq asap.

I also have a hard time believing an Obama Administration would manufacture evidence to go to war. We can already see McCain doing just that, and he's not even President. As Joe Biden recently said, there are only three options for our relationship with Iran: Talk to them, go to war, or maintain the unacceptable current situation. McCain has ruled out number one, that makes McCain's calls for bombing Iran seem all the more inevitable if he becomes President.

One other plus that Paul would bring to Obama would be the 5-19% of the Republican vote Paul has consistently received in the Republican primaries and caucuses. Of course, not all of those voters are likely Republicans, many are independents and some are Democrats, but for any true Republican, Ron Paul's platform is the traditional Republican core values - smaller government and lower taxes. That's much more appealing than John McCain's Neo-Con values of "Less Jobs, More Wars".

Realistically, a Vice President doesn't have a huge impact on a President's policies in office. In most cases the V.P. is a ceremonial figurehead, think Cal Ripken Jr.'s backup, they will likely never get in the game, but they do offer some protection. If the President becomes incapacitated, the V.P. would theoretically carry on with similar stances on the issues. But a V.P. like Ron Paul could have a larger role in changing Washington for the better than any V.P. in history. With his passion and constant search for the truth, Ron Paul, who would be the head of the Senate, casting the deciding vote on any ties, would be a champion of the American people and Barack Obama. He would be the best point man America could have watching over our Senate. And he would be a nightmare for a corrupt Senate who care more about personal pork earmarking than passing bills that help Americans.

The bottom line is, while there are differences between Obama and Paul, their similarities and passion for this country, as well as their history of working with others and just plain common sense overcome what on the outside looks like an odd marriage.

I agree Obama should pick Ron Paul, for a number of reasons.
1. Obama has run on the platform of reform and unification what better way than to pick a vp from across the isle.
2. Ron Paul is mild mannered and would not detract from Obamas leading roll.
3. If the powers that are want to try another Kennedy stunt with Obama they will be less inclined to do so Knowing Ron Paul is the replacement and not LBJ.
4. Ron Paul has captured the hearts and minds of defecting white republicans and would bring them to any ticket he is on.
5. A salt & pepper team if you will. Unite the parties, unite the people and unite our country.

You serious?

Obama wants smaller government with balanced budgets as well? Obama wants to increase government programs, which means increased spending. That means bigger government as well just in case you didn't know.

I don't want to say the T word here, but I can't help but think that this is just someone trying to come up with a reason to get Ron Paul supporters to vote for Obama.

have a look at this

Sorry, but no!

First off, the only VP to actually have real influence over things is Cheney. That was not by accident, it was made that way so his agenda could be done. They are not going to allow Ron Paul to do his agenda if he's VP for Obama.

Ron Paul would have no voice anymore. They would not want him out talking like he is now. He is better suited being a congressman. His voice will be louder and he will have more freedom to do what he needs to do.

Your premise is right but

Your premise is right but your facts are short. Just look at Bush41 and LBJ.

Ron Would Refuse

What makes you think that Ron would throw away his desire to end the warfare/welfare state and restrain big government with the constitution?

I say this not as an American "clinging to guns and the bible", but as an unarmed British atheist. A former card-carrying-communist who gave up cool aid for mayday.

I think alot of people like Obama because he is slick operator. Like him or loathe him, he is not a dumbass.

I agree with Jesse Jackson that the best course of action may be to "cut his nuts off".

Wasn't that little jerk-of-the arm absolutely priceless?

Ron Paul is totally opposite

Ron Paul is totally opposite of Democrats, he wouldn't accept VP from Democrats.
Why would he join the problem of big government socialist. He's trying to fix the problem.
I would not give Democrats any credit, they are just as screwed up as the Repubs have become if not more.

Paul and Barr would be nice ticket, so would Baldwin and Paul.
These would be more likely.

OMG

Ron Paul wouldn't sully his reputation to even discuss this tripe! Nor should we!

Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....

True and true. But should

True and true. But should the Dems?

Stretchin it

Come on now...this is ridiculous....

1. As if Ron Paul would even accept the nomination

2. They would not agree an any policy, (foreign, monetary, war)

Why don't you wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up first...and then come and broadcast your ridiculous schemes to get Ron Paul in office under a socialist....

Knee jerk reaction? Look,

Knee jerk reaction?

Look, this isn't a scheme. Some Dems really feel this way. They my be off kilter but at least they are looking at Paul and I would not discourage it. We know what the incompatibilities are that's no secret to us or Paul himself. We know this could/would never happen. Not the offer nor the acceptance is tangible. To like it or not is irrelevant. It is a card that was dealt. The question is how do we use it? No one here is suggesting Paul be Obama's VP, merely pointing out that some Dems are making this case to other Dems. This is not a detriment to our cause nor a bane. You must understand this....?

obama is a globalist

who will sell your country out to the world government. He will tax every member of your family for the global carbon tax and they will use that money to pump CO2 back into the ground they are claiming they have created a microbe that breaks CO2 down to oil. When actually it is a microbe that has always been in the ground. Of course they are going to patent it just like they have gene altered seed. Once the microbes break it down they will pump it out of the ground and sell it back to you for $10 a gallon. Because people fall for the whole we are running out of oil. Don't you know you never lose mass it only changes into a different state its called CO2 and they can convert it back into oil.only its allot more profitable if the tax payers of the world foot the bill for getting it back into the ground. Think about that for just a bit and then realize what they are all fighting for once they use our money to get a process for getting it back into the earth (of course without letting anyone know what they are doing. They will sell the same substance to us over and over and over again and by the time three generations go by they will not even know your grandkids will just think that’s how much gas cost. You wonder why these people will sell their country out its because they think they are setting their grandchildren up for a huge future. Only the joke is just as much on them once they die their kids will get squat. These people are so driven by greed they will never listen to anything you say. What do you offer them a set salary? These people do not care about that. There is no honor in them. No my friend Obama has no Idea what is even going on every decision he makes will actually be done by someone else. He will just read it off a teleprompter and they will pat him on the head "good boy". Get ready to bare witness of the selling off of your nation my friend I doubt you can get enough people together to stop what is coming. People don't want the red pill. It’s too nice in the matrix. We must try to keep ahold of our two cars and our house (oh that’s right everyone is losing their house). Ok their two cars and their tent. We wouldn't want to see people lose that average wage of what is it now what 22 K a year? Ok well after 50% taxes 11 K a year. Yeah its nice in the matrix I can go to the hospital and wait 5 years to get that heart transplant. Well I could get it if they hadn't given me only 3 years to live. Get ready folks we are getting ready to see a nightmare.

Tru believer,

Did you just say that YOU need a heart transplant?

obama is weak man,

obama is weak man, controlled by the elite.

under such circumstances Ron can accomplish much more outside of that administration.

agreed

CFL can become the most powerful force in the country.

Dr Paul & the Socialist's Socialist?

I'm sure Dr Paul is red with laughter upon hearing that one. I can see him bent over holding onto a chair for support; family saying "breath in, Ron!"
