A new "TOOL" that works GREAT!!! X2

0 votes

As I have been waking people up about Ron Paul, I have come up with an amazing little "GEM" or "TOOL" that works 100% of the time in converting the average "Joe" to the Ron Paul way of thinking. It is so simple, yet so complex...but works. It really makes people think.

We all run into people everyday, and talk to people everyday, and I will bet that if you start talking about Politics, Economy, or Elections, most of the people you talk to get that "Glossy eyed" bored look in their eye because they just can't comprehend or understand what you are talking about.

Here is the trick to get them interested and intrigued.

Find a 1964 or prior dime, and keep it in a safe place in your wallet. When you start talking about the economy, or about Ron Paul, just pull out the dime along with a $1 bill.

Tell the person this.... while holding both up.

"Can I ask you a simple question?"

"I have a dime and a dollar here. Which one would you rather have?" (Don't mention it is a silver dime)

They will always choose the dollar, and at that point you say.....

"Why would you choose the lesser of the 2"?

They will be baffled.....then you say....

"This dime is worth $1.50, and you chose the $1.00 bill"?

Then you explain that the dime is 90% (Pre 1964) silver and has the buying power of $1.50.

With this visual.....the average person "GETS IT".

After the person understands that....then I do this...

I pull out of my wallet a pre-1964 quarter and say....

"This is a 1964 quarter. In 1964 this quarter bought a gallon of gas. Today, this same quarter will also buy a gallon of gas because it is worth close to $4 because of its silver content. When gas is $8 a gallon, this same quarter will buy a gallon of gas again."

Then you can take it from there. This is a very simple way to guide a conversation about how our money is no longer backed by anything, and the gov't just keeps printing it, and thus causing inflation.

In closing a conversation like this.....I always say this....

Gas is going up right? They will say "YES".
Food is going up right? They will say "YES"
All prices are going up right? They will say "Yeah"

Then you say....."No, the prices are not going up, it is the dollar that is going down in value, because they are printing so many!"

I hope this little bit of info helps. It sure works good for me when dealing with somebody that does not get it.

Tell me some of your stories on how you make a "SHEEP" get it fast without losing them.

Pe 1968 or 1964?

In Peter Schiff's book, "Crash Proof: How to Profit from the Coming Economic Collapse" he says it's a good idea to hold on to pennies and nickels minted before 1982, since the metal they are made of is worth more than their monetary value, and to hold on to quarters and dimes minted before 1968, since they are made of silver. In this article, it says the quarters and dimes minted before 1964 are silver. Which date is correct: 1968, or 1964? I've looked, but I can't seem to find much info on the internet. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I use a 1964 quarter and

I use a 1964 quarter and dime.

THANKS

It made me feel good to see Mike put this on the front page. And it made me smile with all of your comments.

After reading all of the posts...I understand that I was not 100% accurate in the conversion rates...but you get the point I was making.

Every time I do this to somebody....It gets them thinking. Visuals always work to help convert people to the way of the JEDI (Ron Paul) .

Ron Paul is the "FORCE" in my life.

Great one! I'm actually going to copy/paste/e-mail everyone on my list this concept!

Did you think of this one by yourself? Genius, pure genius!
-Rob

I did think of this

myself....and use it every day...but it stems from the "GOLD STORY".

Anybody that has invested in gold, knows this story.....and I just adapted it so you didn't have to carry an ounce of gold with you worth $1000.

The gold story is this....

In ancient Rome, a single one-ounce gold coin could buy a quality toga, a pair of sandals, and a belt. Today, the same is true: a single one-ounce gold coin is about $950, enough to buy a good quality suit, shoes, and a belt.

This will always remain true...

Damn G, that's phat!

U da bomb!
(sorry, I'm goofy tired)

I love it, thanks!

P.S. Can I borrow your dime, and quarter? :)

Good post

We can all buy old coins from the local coin dealers and in doing so we will have the current available price and they can also tell us the current price of silver coins if minted today.

I think this is a great Idea!

Why not create a software application: The patriot vote test or something like that

Scenario:

User gets a set of questions: An image with the silver dime and the dollar, he has to pick up one, the one he thinks has the most value, if he answers correctly he gets points and an explication like above.

At the end of the test, he will get a score, may be he can win a RP t-shirt, book, .... or just a smile :)

If we can get a set of great informative questions, I will code it, I can create the application in a very short time ;)

we can have a thread dedicated to this set of questions?

I don't know, it's just an idea

Have the site come up and ask the questions in the main post...linked to current spot on silver.

excellent idea and great

excellent idea and great right-up. A great way to demonstrate what is happening to the average individual!

I like this idea.

This is a smooth little tactic to introduce the concept of fiat currency to the bewildered herd. So simple even an American high school graduate can understand it.
It reminds me of the dirty 5 penny joke told for decades by the 90+ year old owner of Marie's Riptide Lounge in Chicago:

She puts a penny on the bar and asks:

Smell anything?
-"Scent," she says.
(she adds another penny)
See any fruit here?
-"a pair," she says
(adds another penny)
See any snakes here?
-"Three copperheads," she says.
(adds another penny)
See any cars here?
- "Four Lincolns" she replies.
(adds another penny)
See any [substitute slang word for female genitalia] here?
-"And you won't, not for five cents."

It works every time after 3AM and a few beers.

Actually...

Actually, prices are going up. It is cost that is staying the same.

The biggest roadblock a lot of people have is differentiating between cost and price.

Good post, not new but still

Sam,

I haven't been able to find a $1 sillver certificate dated after 1957, although I know there were $2 and $5 certificates after that.....they were outlawed altogether after JFK's death.....they are worth more than face value, but not by much.....except in mint condition....this site seems to have the best info on the certificates...

Where can I get some of those Dimes and Quarters?

I love this idea. Simple enough even for my 13 year-old brother and maybe even a 33 year-old executive :)

We'll see.

Any help on where I can get those dimes and Quarters would be great!

Where you get the dimes and quarters

I have been using this example verbally for some time. Using a visual prop is a great idea (Ishould have thought of it myself).
You can buy this kind of "junk silver", as they call it, at most coin shops. You will pay a premium, typically 5%, on purchase, but not when you sell it back to the coin shop. Ask the dealer what he charges. If he charges more, or wants to charge on both buying and selling, go find another one.
I would urge everyone to buy as much of this junk silver as you can afford and stash it away at home someplace.
At $18/ounce silver (this mornings spot price), a "roosevelt" dime is valued at just over $1.30. I've been adjusting my example depending on the current prices, for example, a gallon of milk, a gallon of gas, a loaf of bread, etc. To illustrate, as I recall in the late fifties, a loaf of bread was 2 dimes (still is), a Pepsi was 6 cents, etc

brilliant

thanks for sharing that!
