Servers on November 5th?

0 votes

I don't know if this issue has been discussed or not, but has the Ron Paul campaign strengthened their servers for the inevitable amount of people who are going to be on Ronpaul2008.com on the 5th? We all be VERY disappointed come November 5th if the site goes down even for a few minutes because we will lose some of the people who would have donated at that moment due to impatience.

"DONATIONS CRASH SITE"

I could live with this headline.
I am wondering about time zones, the official page seems to be EST.So is 9:01 pacific counted as 12:01 EST?

From the daily email sent by thisnovember5th.com:

"A short call was made to campaign headquarters to make sure they are ready for the expected surge in traffic. They have upgraded their servers and are ready and happy to accept the donations."

"What if the site crashes? We don’t plan on this happening but if it does visit ThisNovember5th.com and we will list contingency plans there. They will include things like.. a link to the google cache page that shows the phone number to call in for donations, date/deadline extensions, etc. Also please donate and then do not return to the main website. We’ll have live coverage of the event on RonPaulRadio.com, RonPaulGraphs.com and screen shots of totals every hour on ThisNovember5th.com. Visiting RonPaul2008.com over and over will put unnecessary strain on the webserver. Please don’t do it!"

Thanks, Shak01,

That's where I read it, in an e-mail. Also, thanks for the info about alternative sites. I hope you will post this again and maybe as it's own forum topic so people won't overload the site. Great alternatives. Get the word out so the servers don't crash on Monday.

Donations on the 5th, this coming monday

There are many people among us with lots of great ideas

The one of starting early so we get media coverage later is a good one, but just continue to donate all day long

Ron Paul himself is aware of monday, he said on a speech just this past week

What we need to focus right now, is on informing and inviting as much people as possible to donate on monday, please dont be afraid to send emails, make some calls and bring everyone you can to this monday event, visit ronpaul2008.com to make your donations

i am working on as many

i am working on as many people as possible, i hope the myspace messages are reaching all 76,000 people i think that is our besy and easiest way to get the 100000 people. hell i dont want to sound to optimistic but there could be more people.

Break up the emails?

Can they break up th reminder email across the day?

target early morning?

maybe we should aim to donate at a low-donation time, like early morning.... just a thought...

are people doing that anyway?

I thought I read a string earlier that said we should all donate between midnight and 9am. not sure why except to get attention flowing earlier in the day?

Time Zones?

Have we accounted for time zones? Which zone are the servers in? Which zone is used for fundraising purposes?

It would suck to have a bunch of people donate at midnight EST when the daily count doesn't begin until midnight CST.

Yes, they have.

Wish I could cite where I heard that. I think it might have been Ron Paul talking to Adam Curry but in any case the answer is yes. It was done a week or so ago. I hope it was upgraded enough. Michael Nystrom has had to update the servers here like 4x now.

Great question

Not sure, but the campaign should be made aware

servers

According to a post a while back, the campaign has been notified and I think they are ready.
