This thread is really

This thread is really disappointing. Barr is not a Troll. He is not the perfect candidate either. Bob has a lot of baggage in this election, and he is the first to admit that he made bad decisions while in Congress, but after being defeated he had a realization. A realization that puts us and our liberty first.

If you were expecting another Ron Paul in this election, you will not have a Candidate. Ron was probably a once and a life time candidate, but you people on your high horses, will never see that Liberty has a huge chance to make noise in ’08, and it will be Bob Barr that will carry that torch.

For me, and my family Barr is the only option. He is the only liberty minded candidate that has a chance to get into the debates. And he is the only one raising enough money to mount any sort of Campaign.

And now I will get the whole “Baldwin is so much of a better candidate” thing, well let me say I do not agree in the least. Baldwin is running at the nominee of the Constitution Party, and he most surly supports their platform….

So tell me does Ron Paul say things like this?
Pornography, at best, is a distortion of the true nature of sex created by God for the procreative union between one man and one woman in the holy bonds of matrimony, and at worst, is a destructive element of society resulting in significant and real emotional, physical, spiritual and financial costs to individuals, families and communities. We call on our local, state and federal governments to uphold our cherished First Amendment right to free speech by vigorously enforcing our laws against obscenity to maintain a degree of separation between that which is truly speech and that which only seeks to distort and destroy.

Gambling promotes an increase in crime, destruction of family values, and a decline in the moral fiber of our country.
The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States.
This great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been and are afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.
The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations and to limit the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries.

I’m sorry, I’m not all into that kind of crap.I mean I am Christian and all, but come on.

And then some will say, Baldwin had such kind things to say about Paul where was Barr? I’m sure this will clear some things up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKt2s0LjUHY

"He's saying the things that he should be saying," Paul said. "He talks our language. So I do really believe that he can have a very positive effect in this campaign, and let the people know that limited government is a very, very important message and the people will have a chance, and that gives them--you know--everybody a choice in the matter."

A source of what? That Barr said "Global warming is reality"?

How about Lew Rockwell.com:

Note to Barr-Bots--see Barr's quote at the bottom:

""There obviously is a role for government," Barr said. "There's a role for private industry. There's a role for nonprofits and certainly a role for the American people, individually and collectively". . . . [Barr] said it is time to recognize that global warming "is a very serious problem" and that it will get "dramatically worse" unless significant action is taken."

Bob Barr Has Raised over $500,000 with over 4,600 Meetup Members

Hi Everyone,

I am happy to see that the Bob Barr campaign has raised over $500,000 and there are now over 4,600 Meetup Group members. Also the Libertarian Party successfully sued the state of Ohio so that Barr and other candidates will be on the ballot there this November. Bob Barr will be campaigning in New Hampshire today and then back to Texas. I am glad that we have an alternative to McCain and Obama who believes in the US Constitution, the free market, peace and individual liberty. Go to www.bobbarr2008.com to learn more.

Total is now $504,782.87

Hi NotOverYet,
Just look at the home page at www.bobbarr2008.com. The latest total is $504,782.87 and the latest donor is Justin Grover, Woodburn, Oregon. We are working hard to get on the West Virginia ballot now. Unfortunately, Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin are not petitioning to be on the West Virginia ballot. We need to pitch in to help the Libertarians provide an alternative to McCain and Obama. Thanks for your interest and all you do for liberty. Best regards.

I'm not really interested in

I'm not really interested in Barr. Many Libertarians (Big L) have pretty much torched that bridge for me.

Many influential/vocal Libertarians were very ugly to Ron Paul.

Sorry folks. They did this to themselves.

I remeber Ron Paul saying

I remeber Ron Paul saying that he is not sold that global warming is even ocuring,

Bob Borring is not the same as Ron Paul

At least be honest and post all the info. Especially the part about goverments obvious role in this. WHICH IS NOT LIKE RON PAUL.

From LewRockwell site -

Now Barr says, "Former Vice President Al Gore and I have met privately to discuss the issue of global warming, and I was pleased and honored that he invited me to attend the 'We' Campaign event. Global warming is a reality as most every organization that has studied the matter has concluded, whether conservative-leaning, liberal oriented or independent."

He gives the caveat that he is "aware that scientists differ on its causes, impact and remedies" and is "firmly committed to free market solutions and innovations to address this issue; not tax-driven policies."

But although he calls his solutions "market-based" and "free enterprise":

"There obviously is a role for government," Barr said. "There's a role for private industry. There's a role for nonprofits and certainly a role for the American people, individually and collectively". . . . [Barr] said it is time to recognize that global warming "is a very serious problem" and that it will get "dramatically worse" unless significant action is taken.

in liberalizing markets, and cutting down it's own emissions.

I don't see him saying that government should institute regulations. He says the opposite: "free-market solutions."

Don't blame me if there's no voice for liberty opposing McCain and Obama in the Presidential debates. I donated to Ron Paul Libertarian, Bob Barr's campaign.

Barr appears to be the same as Ron Paul on global warming.

From Barr's latest statement after the Gore meeting: "Global warming is a reality as most every organization that has studied the matter has concluded, whether
conservative-leaning, liberal oriented or independent. I am, however, also aware that scientists differ on its causes, impact and remedies. I remain
firmly committed to free market solutions and innovations to address this issue; not tax-driven policies." http://www.bobbarr2008.com/press/press-releases/58/bob-barr-...

How is that different from Paul's position?

Morever, so what if it is? That sounds like a good position to me.

A source...

http://www.muckrakerreport.com/id447.html

Muckraker Report: "Especially after the release of Al Gore’s global warming documentary, the environment has been very much on people’s minds. Where do you stand on global warming? "

Paul: Global temperatures have been warming since the Little Ice Age. Studies within the respectable scientific community have shown that human beings are most likely a part of this process. As a Congressman, I've done a number of things to support environmentally friendly policies. I have been active in the Green Scissors campaign to cut environmentally harmful spending, I've opposed foreign wars for oil, and I've spoken out against government programs that encourage development in environmentally sensitive areas, such as flood insurance.

Muckraker Report: How about KYOTO?

Congressman Ron Paul: I strongly oppose the Kyoto treaty. Providing for a clean environment is an excellent goal, but the Kyoto treaty doesn't do that. Instead it's placed the burden on the United States to cut emissions while not requiring China - the world's biggest polluter - an other polluting third-world countries to do a thing. Also, the regulations are harmful for American workers, because it encourages corporations to move their business overseas to countries where the regulations don't apply. It's bad science, it's bad policy, and it's bad for America. I am more than willing to work cooperatively with other nations to come up with policies that will safeguard the environment, but I oppose all nonbinding resolutions that place an unnecessary burden on the United States.

"Global warming is a myth" was correct, however. Before the flip flop.

Ugh...Kevin

Kevin, the SOLUTION is the same as Ron's...free markets. Stop trying to spin what I'm saying now. I never said Paul endorsed global warming. I don't care about "global warming", I'm concerned with the endorsement of free market solutions. I'm through with your spins on this thread.

Thanks, a concession is

Thanks, a concession is always good.

The entire focus of the thread was that Bob Barr flip-flopped on his earlier correct statement that "global warming is a myth". This thread is not about free market solutions--which anyone on the right obviously thinks are a good thing.

Cut the crap, Kevin

You truly are an idiot, and you need to get over your ego. Kevin, it is OK to admit when your wrong(which you never do), but it is not OK to rationalize your wrong position by sputtering off further nonsense which makes your position and your intelligence appear even less credible from the already unintelligent state it formally held. I have never called anyone a "disinfo troll", but congrats you will be the first: Kevin, you are a "Disinfo troll".

I think psychologists call

I think psychologists call this "projection"*.

This thread was not about Bob Barr endorsing free markets. (Although I'm pleased to hear him say it--it almost sounds...gasp--choke-- LIBERTARIAN...! A first, I think!!!)

The thread is about Barr, and his new friend Al Gore's belief system in the modern mythology of Global Warming. He flip-flopped on it, and became a toady of the mythmakers.

I'll let another poster above give my sentiments justice below...but I'm hoping you can see that whether or not he agrees with climate change or not his solution is let the free markets decide the the outcome of the situation. No matter whether he agrees with global warming or not is irrelevant because his solution to the matter is identical to Ron Paul's. Here is Bob's statement after the event with Gore:
