The IRS may look for people spending beyond their income (thus hiding income). Maybe flag people who have credit card spend that is greater than 1/2 of their after-payroll-tax. Also check bank accounts, pensions, etc.
Also, with the credit card transactions, they know where you are (when you buy something) and where you are going (when you book travel).

After reading that, if you still feel like protecting your use of credit cards then, well, good for you, I guess.
This is an effort to slow credit use. It is trying to put a leash on the dog before it goes rabid (too little, too late). While I dislike the idea of the government tracking anything. If you have learned anything from this movement, I hope that it is "credit" via fractional reserve systems is bad and dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. Simple solution, don't use credit anymore. That will help to get us back on the right path to freedom faster than anything else.
I do hope the bill fails, though, as the IRS and government don't need any more control or power over our lives. And of course, the bailout is nothing more than free money for the elite, stolen from the pockets of the middle class.

I totally agree on credit card use, personally owning one that I only use when necessary and balance paid off immediately. However, having the gov. say this will be good for changing people's spending habits to me is highly insulting and just wrong! I wrote to my senators this morning telling them the same thing in addition to "how about CONGRESS set the example and stop running up debt!" We know that many people abuse credit cards but that's not the entire subject of this outrageous unconstitutional bill. The cc topic may just get more attention of people who care less about the fact that WE are paying off bad debts of private banking corps.

Hear you! One of my main issues after purchasing a house after college graduation was taking control of my student loans. Did you have that problem? I’m getting TONS of my credit card offers and trying to keep my score high and don’t’ want to get burned. I heard Wells have real offers from small banks and credit unions and its temping to take these offers. I am already battling keeping credit score high so i can play the "systems" game. saying something today about us having to register to buy gas at some point and then we'll only be allowed to pay by credit card. That the gas companies will not be accepting cash. Talk about scary stuff. What about the people who don't have credit cards. If it is true for the near future, I'll find some other mode of transportation. This is getting really outrageous.
